So refreshing seeing other total wars in this channel!!! I wonder if we are going to see some shogun 2, that would be great too!! It would be nice to see live battles!!!

Good points about elephant units in MP. Just finishing a SP campaign as Carthage though and elephant units are very fun to use against the AI. Never gets old seeing them just mash enemy infantry into paste.

I played as the selucids last week. I was besieging Pella when the Spartans attacked me. I had a pike anvil and elephant hammer which got 950 kills spread over 2 war elephant units.

Bobi and The Duke....sounds like a morning radio show. lol

Thanks for casting these games, Heir. I like this game the best, because my teammate failed hard with Suebi so I had to send half of my cav just to protect the skirmishers of Suebi which was a problem for me mid-game when the epirote elite cav rear charged my libyan infantry (this is why some got so few kills), but still pikes carrying in a tournament, this doesn't really happens often lmao. About Kush: It's actually one of the best infantry spam factions. Their cheap spears beat levy freemen and all of their mid-high tier inf has insane AP damage and this is why Kush is a hard counter to Rome and pretty much all high armour factions (Kush still has pretty bad cav, except for the kushite royal guard). Their elite inf is especially insane the disciples are basically berserkers with double the unit count, but minus the berserk ability and their other elite infantry unit has 20 AP damage.

Your libyan infantry got so few kills because they were either bait and switch charged or got hit while standing around

lets be honest tho the pikes only did anything cuz they got ran into by light inf :))) -- Sof didn't realize they were pikes, he thought they were hoplites. Feelsbadman was a good series overally, pretty fun to play. ggs to bobi/lendon, they deserved to win for sure. As bobi was saying about Kush, their inf is just insane, the slave spearmen have thureos spear range (but only 2 javs), and the slingers cost 210. I'd say rome is still better because they have better cav and skirmishers (and have javcav), but it's close. Thanks for casting.

@@miles_garcia It was rly late for us europeans so we all made big mistakes. Just look at how Lendon failed with Suebi. He used fast charge on only his general and on my carth cav protecting his skirmishers lol. For me it was something like 2-3 AM. Still kinda weird that Sofa didn't expect pikes tho I am spamming them more than Iraklis lmao.

I always thought of Rome 2 as the ideal TW game for multiplayer competitive. Takes a lot more minor tweaking to make your armies succeed and everything isn't a base of paper/rock/scissors. And positioning matters a helluva lot more than it does in Warhammer.

Thank you for the Rome II content, Heir. I have missed it.

Hey Heir, a Shotel is the weapon the Shotel Infantry were using. The weapon is designed to swing around a shield to strike the target.

Hey Heir great to see you back in Rome 2! About those Shotel warriors from Kush, they are supposed to have good armor piercing damage. So they are a good counter to the Romans if I remember right.

Heir fell in love with Kushite Royal Cav in this game

Just to let you know kush is a super hard counter to Rome and it’s next to Rome being the best faction cause of shotel and armored shotel which have like 36 ap so damage and 46 melee attack

Give us some close looks on the fights! I miss those nice 1vs1 animations from Rome 2 and Shogun 2. Battles were such a joy to watch in those games

It’s south of egypt, you need DLC to get them though. It also includes Saba and Masasily (from the last tournament video) Kush is very interesting because most of their infantry is really bad light slave infantry but their shotal and armored shotal warriors are really good and have tons of armor penetration

It's in the name Heir. Carthage, in my humble opinion, is the best faction in the game. Even more than Rome. I'm amused in the recent tourney's that they don't get banned. Their multitude and diversity of units, and terrific elite but also low tier inexpensive units just makes for a Chef's delight. They can attack defend and are great in all forms of battle. But I will offer that Rome is their best adversary. Just a classic match up there. Elephants did take a hit, which was weak. But Carthage is still great without them.

Kush’s unit choice very, very weak. Spear men for Kush not the best strategy. They will fold and break quick. Great video Heir!

Pikes are definitely more usable now with the limit on how thin your ranks can be. And I would say that formation attack is important for keeping them from getting scattered. I would be curious to see if someone brought a traditional Macedonian army to an online battle with cheap pikes in the center and powerful flanks. That would be interesting to see.

That's my favourite build :D. It's not that hard to win in casual online battles, because most ppl don't even spread out nor try to outflank you. But in tournaments it's almost impossible to win with pike build vs rome/barbs. Example: steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2139419321 (the guy dropped this is why it's a draw but i basically engaged his remaining infantry with my pikes and was about to rear charge them with my cav)

FYI for "Apedemak" put the emphasis on the second syllable instead of the third

Heir if your gonna do Shogun 2 again I would love to play online with you!!!! That’s my favorite Total War but I got it 2 years ago and I’ve never been able to play with anybody but I think I’m decent at the game. I wouldn’t mind trying to test my metal against you and some other players.

People want historical accuracy with Rome II... so later armies employing more javelin units to defeat war elephants... is exactly what happened in reality. For competitiveness it'd be better to boost elephant's potential damage, making the required investment in screening forces worthwhile... but maybe PvPers dont care as much about accuracy.

Anybody else laugh as soon as he said Kush? 😂

Kush is busted as hell

It would be nice if you could compare to units In Warhammer if possible because idk this game to well but I'm interested and this could make it more konvenient for Warhammer viewers of witch you have plenty I think.

I'm not going to lie, and I'm sorry because I know it's irrational, but I honestly find games without the Rome faction much less interesting to watch. I frankly don't have anyone to root for without them.
