I’m hard on a watch, so I have a hard time justifying wearing an upscale watch on most days. Typically I’ll strap on a Victorinox quartz or something similar for everyday wear, then for entertaining or special occasions, a Sub, Patek, or something more fine is brought out. This gives me a greater sense of appreciation for those special times. Love your vids, please keep them coming!

Loved the whole tour guys. Loved seeing my 3x Black GMT Master II over there and the pricing. Really interesting seeing the coffins. I'd heard about them but had no idea what that meant so thanks for that pretty sure I will never see a coffin here in Atlanta with a Steel sports in it. Great job. Be good get home safe.

Regarding the "rust" that you saw on one of the Explorer II's - that's just body fluids, grime, and dirt all mixed together from the previous owner. A little soap, water, and soft bristled tooth brush will clean that right up. I bought a GMT Master II from Japan that looked just like that. To me it was actually a selling point! In Japan you know how they like to do crappy polishes on their used Rolexes to make them look good. Well a dirty watch is good in the respect that you know it hasn't been polished, at least not by the current seller. My GMT cleaned up really nice.

Regarding the Bluesy two tone - I happened across one last year at a price that I could not pass up. The two tone is a little too much for me too, but the dial is just lovely. Mine is from 1989 and the dial actually turns from blue to purple, depending on the lighting. I already had a spare stainless bracelet and a little work on eBay got me a SS Sub crown and bezel ring. You already know how easy it is to swap the bezel, the crown is even easier, if you have the right tool to remove the caseback. So.... now I have an all stainless Sub with blue dial, gold markers/hands, and a matching blue bezel insert with gold numbers. It's a bit of a Frankenstein watch, but really lovely in my eyes. Just a thought....

@@watchsymposium Depth rating of 660ft is incorrect for a 16800: 660ft is depth rating for 1680. Austin, look at the crown guards: they are almost pointed. They do not look correct even if they were over-polished. Bezel also looks too faded for a thin font insert unless artificially bleached. Also - and most importantly - look at the centre pin holding the hand-stack in place and compare with the following 16800 and 1680. The centre pin on the linked ones below are flat/tiny. The one in your video is like a bulbous nipple! www.bobswatches.com/images/zRolex-16800---110901.jpg www.bobswatches.com/images/zRolex-1680-109228-p.jpg

@@antonchigurh4125 Great catches! So, looks to be a 1680 dial...but there are those crown guards. I know early 1675 crown guards looked like that. Wonder what's up with those? As for the pin...I can't see what you're talking about. The pin in the pictures and the video look the same to me. What's your take on the watch: Rare 1680 with pointed crown guards? Franken? Other?

@@watchsymposium Re the 'pin'. If you look at what is keeping the hands attached to the dial, you will see this is completely flat on the images I linked to. If you pause and look at the hand stack on your video, the 'pin' (for want of a better word!) is bulbous, almost nipple shaped. This is a huge red flag for me.. As to what the watch is, hard to say from a youtube video but I wouldn't go anywhere near it if it were my money!

A large balance wheel followed by it can’t be accurate? In fact watches with larger balance wheels that are calibrated properly tend to be much much more accurate. hence why observatory watches were slow beats with huge heavy balance wheels.

Austin Daniels Yes, there was a bluesy I remember! The “rusty” Explorer II was 200 000 THB (around 6500 USD). But I found a clean example in one of the other stores for the same price. What I found weird was that they all seemed to have papers but very few of them boxes. One of the salespersons explained to me that boxes get ruined in this climate. Don’t know if it’s true. I’m actually lusting for the GMT 116710 LN black with green hands. I was in TWC in Tokyo one month before it was discontinued, they were going for like 8,3 million yen back then. Really a pity I didn’t pick one up at the time. So I found two GMT’s in two different stores up there. One for 340 000 THB (2013) and one for 300 000 THB (2010). The one from 2010 was in good condition. Converts to about 9800 USD. Not bad considering the prices on Chrono24. Sadly I don’t have the funds right now.
