Rocket : Robot On Wheels - Nintendo 64 Review - Ultra HDMI - HD
Ойындар
Rocket: Robot on Wheels is a platformer video game developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by Ubi Soft for the Nintendo 64. The game was released in North America on October 31, 1999, and in Europe on December 17, 1999. This was the first game developed by Sucker Punch. In the game the player takes control over Rocket, the titular robot. Rocket: Robot on Wheels is notable for being the first game on a home platform to use a realistic physics engine to drive the gameplay. The player is required to solve puzzles dealing with mass, inertia, friction, and other physical properties. The game had been developed under the title Sprocket until three months before its release, when it was changed due to a trademark conflict with Game Sprockets.

Rocket Robot On Wheels review on the nintendo 64. Recorded using an Ultra HDMI modded N64 console with an Elgato game capture HD capture card using a real game cartridge.
Does this retro nostalgic game fall into your top 5 or top 10 N64 games? What do you think if the music or soundtrack in the game? Do you prefer this or space station silicon valley? Do you have a favourite sucker punch game? A lot of people love the sly cooper games so which is your favourite? Id also love to know if you watched the movie or trailer and what you made of it.

As soon as I heard the music I almost cried..reminds me of being a child and my dad bringing this home to me. Remember creating the rollercoaster tracks over and over. Rip dad

As a guy who rented this from a store and kept it way past it's due date, *the physics on this game were not only realistic, but fucking incredible at the same time.*
This game is up there with some of the best platformers on the console.

Holy crap, the animations in this game are amazing. Especially during the cutscenes, they looked soooo smooth.
Truly amazing game. The correlation between the physics of the game and the controller is incredible. I discovered this game thanks to this channel, for which I will be eternally grateful.

This is one of those games where I can’t describe the feeling I got while playing it. But I definitely was in awe of it when I rented it long ago. It had a laid back quality to it. I played around with the rollercoaster way too much and never got around to beating it.
It feels like I haven’t played this game in like 10 years, I would be so happy if it got a remaster on the switch
I used to rent this game from blockbuster, back when that was a thing. Totally forgot about it, Thanks man

this game never gets a mention so I'm you have here. Not so much these days perhaps but the physics were rather impressive to experience and felt pretty much perfect
This game is so criminally underrated. It's up there with Zelda OTT and Mario 64 for me. I had so much fun playing this game. And i can still pick it up today and play again without any complain.

I truly don't understand how my child mind could get through over half of this game without help or tutorials. One of my all times on n64 easily. I was so sucked up into the world and puzzles this game had as a child. What's crazy is I almost forgot about this game until I saw the video pop up. I must have been really good at trial and error because I remember getting to at least the point where you get a motorcycle with wings in the lava looking area then eventually moved on. But what great memories.
Sly is amazing but rocket was what blew me away for sucker punch. Would love to see this game get a facelift on switch.

Downloaded this title for emulation today! Cannot WAIT to give it a proper go tomorrow. It looks incredible

Great to see this flash up on my phone and take me away from the mundane news at ten on BBC 1 so thanks for that Glenn.:)

How can you have the heart to negatively criticize the music?! It is exceptionally good! The greatest music on the platform outside of Nintendo’s own titles. Also it’s very technically advanced with interactive mixing of the tracks and small ditties inter pierced.

N64 Glenn Plant, which one of Rares games are you talking about? Most of the music is just Humpty Dumpty generic naive children’s tunes, or resoundingly empty bombast like in GG or PD. Technically well done, but not memorable and really tiring to listen to in the long run.
@kpoprules1103

@@Frisenette I laughed when you said "humpty dumpty generic children music" Because it's mostly true
I have to say, I never really thought about a world where Sucker Punch stayed on with Nintendo. A world where Sly and Rocket were in Smash is honestly so enticing I'm kind of anguishing over what we don't have, haha. I think Sucker Punch's take on a Metroid game could have been really interesting, honestly. A lot of the design elements from Rocket, Sly, and Infamous could translate well to that franchise.
Thank you Glenn. This game is awesome! I play using a Everdrive 64. Am a gamer before I'm a collector. So budget gaming is my thing. Am also getting a Ultra HDMI for my N64 to play in HD. Thanks to you I have been playing Rocket Robot for the past few weeks. Love it, and always watch your reviews. Keep it up.

This is the best N64 game to me. Nobody ever talks about it- so thanks for the video!(:
Reminds me on both Conker's Bad Fur Day and both Banjo-Kaoozies.
I always wondered how this played. I'll have to keep an eye out for it.
Absolutely love this game, one of the best n64 games in my opinion and still my favourite sucker punch game! Surprised you didn't mention the camera though, thought it was pretty bad myself...
@n64glennplant
6 жыл бұрын
see for me its not a great camera but given how much time you have in game to think about everything you have a lot of time to tweak and adjust it which wasn't a deal breaker for me. if it had been a faster paced game then yeah it would've been an issue for a lot of people
Another original and fun game that never got the attention it deserved and if demand and time persists, we could see a re-master on the Nintendo Switch. Here's hoping for the best and great video!!
Man I loved this game, I think I only rented it once or twice but I was hooked.

The first two levels in this game (Clowney Island and Paint Misbehavin') are THE finest examples of N64 platforming, and the remaining levels still feel like solid prototypes for Banjo-Tooie.

I haven't played a single Suckerpunch game I didn't enjoy, and I especially love this one. I reckon they could've made an incredible Mach-Rider reboot for Nintendo if inFamous is anything to go by.
I remember renting this one as a kid and really enjoying it. I picked it up as an adult when I found out it was made by Sucker Punch and I still feel it holds up. As for Sucker Punch themselves, they are probably my favorite second party developer behind Rareware. I love just about every game they've made.....except for Second Son. I love the Infamous series, I love Sly Cooper but if I had to pick my favorite in their line up, it would have to be Sly 2: Band of Thieves.

Honestly I'm curious as to what they have planned next. I think that they going to call it quits on Infamous given how great a train wreck Second Son was so I think an orginal IP is on the horizon.
Hey hello, are you playing from the actual original cartridge via ultra hdmi mod? What resolution is your streamer output. It looks amazing.
Will you be doing a live stream about this game? This is actually one of the Nintendo 64 games I've always wanted to play, aside frok Mario Tennis 64. I'm not a Sly Cooper fan but I do hang around with the Sly Cooper community sometimes due to them being fans of other platforming games besides the Sly Cooper series. Heck, I even befriended a Sly Cooper cosplayer and her mum (who cosplayed as Big Al from the Ratchet & Clank series) at MCM Comic Con Manchester 2016. I believe the Sly Cooper cosplayer will be cosplaying as Kiera from the Jak And Daxter series next year. Hopefully, I'll see her again in person at MCM Comic Con Manchester 2018. I've only played a demo of Sly Cooper 2, it comes with Ratchet & Clank 3 on the PlayStation 2. Whether Sucker Punch jumped ship to Sony or not, I wouldn't have it any other way.
I have never even heard of this one, but by god those physics look amazing. Is it weird that I have so much respect for the Sly Cooper series even though I've never had the hardware to play them?
The animations on the robot are insanely smooth and blend very well. What kind of wizardry did these dudes pull off?
This game clearly needs a sequel.
I enjoyed this more than Banjo Kazooie until level 3 or 4 where I began to feel cold towards the game. Like you said in the video, if they had designed the main character better, and given him any emotion at all, the game may have been easier to digest.
