Rocket Robot on Wheels Analysis

Ойындар

An honest look at one of the lost platformers on the Nintendo 64 created by the one and only Sucker Punch marking their ONLY Nintendo release. Rocket Robot on Wheels was an experience I'll never forget so let's take a little restrospective Jiggylookback.

The camera in this game made me feel like I was Sucker Punched every time I had to do some really delicate platforming.

I’ve honestly never seen this game. But the physics engine does look pretty impressive for the time. The camera would drive me crazy too for sure. Great review man!

Thanks so much for watching! Yeah I think that clip of the camera where I’m going around a corner was perfectly representative of the frustration you can get at points. But yeah that physics engine is unreal!

One of the best games I have ever played. I discovered it in October 2021 and bought a copy instead of emulating it. One of the few good things about a very low (self-inflicted) point in my life.

I still have the cartridge I got for my birthday back in 1999, ranks very highly as one of my favorite games of all time.

Thanks for the review of this game, It's nice to see people review this game that nobody talks about. It's a forgotten little gem. I don't think it's the best platformer on the system but I think it's unique and that's what makes it stand out. Definitely something I think I would've liked as a weekend rental back in the day.

Great review! I disagree when it comes to music specifically. This is one of the only games on n64 that uses a big band jazzy sound and it's fantastic.

Fair! I guess it didn't feel memorable to me. The tracks seemed too similar, but not bad by any means.

LOL when I died at the very end on the ball of the last level and had to COMPLETELY restart that last boss I put on low gravity and super jump cause I was done 😂 then I played with it. I miss cheats like those in games. Just needed a big head mode!

So this game only gets one more point than DKR... Something is off with your rating system.

There are a few factors to that: 1: The Diddy Kong Racing Video was one of my first videos and my tastes and opinions have changed I’d say I’m a bit more generous now with my scoring because I am finding more redeeming qualities in things even if they’re bad. This comes from playing through lots of the N64 library. If I went back (which I might at some point) I’d rank Diddy Kong Racing higher then an 8. It’s probably a 9. 2: even tho this particular game wasn’t something I was super enthusiastic about it’s still a solid game and I had fun with it and I see why people would really like it. 3: I used to rank and review every single level and then kind of rough average out the score at the end which now I just like to generally talk about things and give an end score. If I did every level and averaged it out it would probably be lower…but I feel there is something to be said with the after taste of a game as a whole. Right after you played it too. So basically yeah I’m more generous with my scoring now. Retroactively I would change my other reviews, but I put so much work into those older ones and I’d prefer to just do new games. If that makes sense.
