    JB, my man! I was always twitchy about the rock to fakie with the risk of shooting out on the way back down. I applied your bank ramp technique to build confidence. It gave me the ‘feel’ of getting that pump right when heading backwards so I felt solid without shooting out. Then I applied the technique to the coping in what I considered a mellow transition in the skate park and got it done yesterday! My 8 year old daughter is working on her bank ramp rock to fakie technique, can’t wait to watch her nail one on the coping! Once again, thanks so much for all you do. You have a great manner and you really inspire the 3 skaters in our family :-D

    I’m with you there. I got R2F on a small transition ramp with a drop off, and also on a kicker but the quarter pipes I go to scare me. I may have to hone in on the technique using banks like these before I get the transition ramps done.

    This gives me the inspiration I've been needing for getting back into skating ! I have been skating for so many years but have never been able to land any tricks , the best trick I've done was kick flip and ollie's off 5 stairs but I was always at a beginner level. I'm not sure what it is but my improvement takes so long.

    Getting good at pumping is crucial. Its what gets the right part of the board on the coping, so figure out if you have to pump like hell if you dont have enough speed, or slow it down if you have too much. It's all about the pump and how it effects your timing. Great vid as always JB!

    Love this! What should you do if you catch your front trucks on the coping, like he did at 3:06? This happened to me recently when I tried to learn RtF and I got a minor concussion as a result, even though I wore a helmet. What's the best way to "prepare" for that and bail in a non-fatal way, or is there a way to avoid it completely?

  • @SkateparkLessons

    @SkateparkLessons

    2 жыл бұрын

    As you practice skating mini ramp you will get better reflexes at saving yourself from slams. Recognize when you are pushing for a new truck and Try to be ready for a potential slam. Wear pads and get to a knee slide if possible. I could go on about this stuff for hours so giving advice in a comment definitely isn’t ideal. Wish you could be here to take a lesson 💙🛹💙

    What's the right way to "keep your head over your front foot", as you mention at 5:32? Your shoulders should still be aligned with the board, right? And your chest should be facing toeside, right? How then do you get your head over the front foot? Should you do it by dipping your front shoulder down towards the front foot? And what about the opposite motion, when you want to get your head over the back foot, as you go down. Should you dip your back shoulder down towards the back foot then?

  • @SkateparkLessons

    @SkateparkLessons

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes keep shoulders with your board and pump up into your rock so you lean forward when you hit the coping so your momentum will allow you to rock forward and your back wheels will come off the ramp. Then lean back to build momentum and just as your back wheels touch the ramp again, you bend down and press on the tail to clear your front wheels over the coping. Most people don’t bend down when they pump fakie, this keeps a high center of gravity and it feels like your board is falling away from your body uncontrollably. 💙🛹💙

    I noticed when I ride front trucks onto a curb, I can ride fakie back out as long as I keep my head over my front foot and not my back foot (I lose the board and hop away). Is it similar on transition? I feel like I have to use my momentum to stab down the back foot on the return together past the coping but then transfer my weight to my front foot for the pump down.
