The 22tcm is too large to function properly in a 9mm magazine hence why they developed the 22tcm9r. If you had the single stack 22tcm/9mm 1911(which uses .38 super magazines) you could fire both the 22tcm and 9r. However since you have the HC/double stack(which uses 9mm magazines) you're stuck with 9r.

Take apart the magazine, clean well and lubricate it lightly but comprehensively to prevent any possible drag as it feeds. It looks like the angle of feed with the full size tcm cartridge may be dragging and altering the feed (may also want to slap the magazine to the back like an AR mag after loading to line all rounds to the rear). As far as all the 9r talk, your gun should have come with the 38 super sized magazine even though it may not say it. As long as you have the length for putting the rounds in without contacting the tips, you should be good to go. Once the round is spent, the length should not matter in anything else but the magazine as the spent case is still the same size as the 9r. Let me know if you had it fixed or if this helps, I know 4 years is a bit much.

I have that gun but only in 9mm. Mine runs pretty well I don't think I've had maybe one or two issues in like 500rds. I don't use the factory magazine very much. I bought a couple of the Remington R1 enhanced 1911 magazines. Super nice and they run awesome, 19 rounds as well. Happy shooting 👍

If I remember right, I think it was about a 2 or 3 week turn around. I was expecting 6 months, so was pleasantly surprised.

I’d recommend having a gunsmith check the ejector…. (and or it’s linkage) Isn’t there some warranty coverage?

Core D, I bought the RIA TAC ULTRA FS HC 9MM pistol. The first range day was frustrating because it was FTF, FTE, and all others, one after another. I got home and decided to disassemble the entire pistol. I decided to lube it good, bought new magazines. I went back to the range and to my surprise it ran like a champ. Was it the " break-in period", was it the mags or a combination of both. I don't know. After that, it continued performing excellent. My point is ...some pistols need more breaking than others. Treat her good, clean her, oil her....you will be find.

My thoughts as well, It's not a chambering issue as you can eject the spent case by hand. It's a magazine issue. Feed lips at the front of the magazine allow the next cartridge to ride up too high? I'm not an expert but I know 2011 (double stack) style pistol magazines ALL require tuning. Easy enough to try. Measure the internal spread first then adjust (tighten) and see if it helps. Brian Enos website has the distance they should be set to. Also the gloves don't help if you've got medium size hands. I know it's cold. duh. Edit: The people who KNOW this pistol recommend that the extractor be changed to a Wilson bullet proof. It may or may not be a drop in replacement.

Sold my TCM ammo dried up new ammo changed nickel cases less FPS. Internet rumor was R was developed because first design TCM was breaking Glock conversions can't find a RELIABLE SOURCE to confirm that. Sold RIA 10mm muliple issues......I fell for the marketing BULLSHIT thought RIA was a decent buget firearm my experience was not good with basic Rocks but I did keep a MAC ( high end RIA ) bobcut that I carry often.

LOL! That rumor is wrong. There's still 22TCM ammo available. 9R was developed so that the OAL is shorter, so that it can fit into 9mm mags.

Isn't the 22tcm9r designed for the Glock? I think that the regular 22 tcm is for the 1911,

9r can be fired from the RIA 1911s without issue, if you've 9mm mags. Those same 1911s can also shoot 22TCM (non-9R), as long as they've mags that'll accomodate the length of the round (38 super 1911 mags are the mags of choice for use with 1911 22TCM/9mm barrels - that is what RIA supplies with 1911s that are chambered to shoot 22TCM). I've been shooting both 22TCM9R and 22TCM from my RIA 1911 without issue.

Too long for the 9/22 magazine. This is why 9R was created. Almost same grain bullet, but bullet is shoved further down the case to make it fire smoothly between 9 & 22. 22 TCM is a tad more powerful though, but if i'm not mistaken, it can be bought as a TCM only gun also, that fires the 22 TCM like a champ. The issue they decided to resolve was the lengths of the TCM being a bit too long for malfunction free operation. So TCM 9R was born... perfect length, bullet shoved a bit further down the neck. I think it's 38 grains, or 39 grain bullets, & the regular TCM are 40, & a smidge longer.

9R is shorter so it can fit into 9mm mags. If you're going to fire both the 22TCM and 22TCM9R from one 1911, you need to ensure you've the proper mags for each ammo type. As well, 22TCM isn't a tad more powerful than 9R. They're rated nearly the same. The bullet weight between the two types are 1 grain (9R is 39-grain, 22TCM is 40-grain). That in itself doesn't make a round more powerful...it's usually the power to weight. I shoot both 22TCM and 22TCM9R from my RIA 1911 without issue, but I've 9mm mags for the 9R (and 9mm) ammo and the OEM 38 Super mag for the 22TCM.
