I shoot a B14R with a steel barrel in Northern Wisconsin. Cold weather is tough on 22 LR. Mine likes SK Biathlon when it's cold. Also Norma TAC-22 when the ammo is kept warm. I use a 350 watt electric heater in my ammo box with the top open, that helps a great deal. Don't let it get too warm, that's why I leave the top open. Bought the heater at Menards for $15. The lubricant on the bullets doesn't like the cold. Wolf Match is very bad in the cold but great in the summer. Hope this helps. Joe

Wolf Target would vertically string 6"at 100 yds cold and shoots 1-1/2" when heated, Remington Golden bullet seems effected the least next to SK Biathlon.

Hey bro just found your channel. I love my Bergara B-14 HMR Wilderness in 6.5 Creedmoor. I have been waiting for the Bergara BMR to come out late May to June. I am in the market for a 22lr that I can shoot on bench but mostly use for hunting small game in the mountains of Colorado. Have you been looking into the BMR and will you do a review? I really the the B-14r Carbon and your reviews, but the 8lbs weight is what keeps me from picking this up and has me waiting for the BMR carbon which is going to weigh 5lbs.

first thanks for watching. I have no intention at this time to do the BMR but if someone reading this is willing to ship me one id be more than willing to thought but if i had to guess it would stay true to bergara form and be a tac driver. Honestly when i was carrying the b14r carbon around in the factory stock weight never jumped out to me i thought it was light but i can see how hucking it around in the woods would get heavy. I'm sure the bmr is awesome.

I got the same results with the Eley outlaw, absolutely horrible. Only 2 loads that my rifles seems to like from Eley are, SA benchrest precision, and Action SV shoots about the same as CCISV, which is to say solid for 6cpr. Definitely favors CX and SK loads. I also put mine in a MPA hybrid with the TT Diamond, been very pleased as well. Though I have found that my older mags dont seem to feed from it very well, but newer mags have no problems. Seems like maybe they made a minor adjustment.

Great video. Made me think. If I figured this out correctly the speed of sound might be 100 ft/sec less in frigid vs warm air. So 1100 f/sec ammo may be subsonic on a warm day and supersonic on a cold day. I think that makes sense, if not tell me, I won't be offended. Not sure how it would affect tolerances between different materials in rifle. I have no clue why your absolute velocities were higher though. Hope your dog is ok.

you know man honestly i'm not sure. most good stuff i've tested seems to stay pretty darn close in velocity year round, maybe varies but a few fps which can make a difference at distance for 22 no doubt. but good stuff will keep pretty close to the same SD year round. i think when you get in to the mid range/cheaper stuff is when you start to notice atmospheric conditions effect it. 22 is such a strange animal i think thats what attracts most people to getting addicted to it LOL

Could it be a harmonics change with the barrel (from the cold) resulting in the group size? I was considering picking up the carbon model until I found out that the barrel is actually a pencil with a carbon fiber tube sitting over it, tensioned by the barrel nut. Seems like the airgap between the barrel and CF tube would cause heat dissipation issues and I am concerned about the harmonics... Did you try the steel version in the cold? Any poi shift/group size change with it?
