you took small bags for that trip . i put bigger bags on my kawasaki vulcan s 650 2018 i got all the ad ons road trips but no cruise control or the power you have with your rebel i been thinking about one like yours ? for the extra power . but mine rides good and is paid for .

No, I hadn't started the cameras yet. That was annoying! I had just leaned up from the side stand and released the parking brake, but I saw a strap on my left saddlebag that was loose. I leaned the bike down on the side stand and the bike rolled forward at the same time... my left hand wasn't on the bar to prevent the inevitable. The stand folded under and down she went! I noped right out of that situation and stepped away... didn't want my left leg trapped under the bike. 😉👍

@QuasiMotard Sorry to bother, but I'm only 5', and so one of the first things I want/need to do is bring the bars closer to me so I'm not leaning forward. But I like the original bars. Can u suggest risers that will bring them back enough? Also, I'm thinking of getting the SW-Motech bags through Honda and a Viking Trunk (with back support) fastened to a T-Rex rear fender rack and T-Rex windshield for my touring setup. What do u think? I'm going to have to get it piece by piece over some time but I'm open to suggestions. Thx again!

I haven't installed any risers on my Rebel yet. You should check out "On the Rebel 11" to see his riser installation videos. He started out wtih a 3" riser ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/iJx11NOAdrWqZ7g.html ), and then he later upgraded to a 4" riser ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/p6GLuJZuYZnXpdo.html ). Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

No, I ordered a set of ROX risers before that trip, but they sent the wrong ones to me by mistake. I tried these Kijima setback bars, but they just didn't work well for me. I reverted to the OEM handlebars just a few months ago, and I definitely prefer the bend of the OEM bars over the Kijima's. I am looking at some setback brackets/spacers from Webike Japan that might be a good fit: japan.webike.net/products/24904440.html . We'll see if those give me the 1-2" of reach to make the Rebel 1100 a bit more comfortable. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

Congrats on your new Rebel 1100! The windscreen that I have on my Rebel is the Daytona Blast Barrier: japan.webike.net/products/24739061.html . I don't have a detailed installation video for it, because I intsalled it in a hurry just before this cross-country trip. I will be upgrading to the MadStad Engineering adjustable windscreen very soon: madstad.com/collections/rebel/products/honda-rebel-1100-2021-up I'm still running with the the original Honda seat with an AirHawk Cruiser seat pad on top for added comfort (see details below). I also purchased the Honda accessory "Custom Forward Seat" that has a deeper bucket and a different cover texture. The custom seat is OK for only $100, but it places too much pressure on my sit bones due to the deeper bucket profile, so I only use that for commuting and shorter trips. The D38 has a semi-rigid plastic liner that helps the bag hold its shape when it's empty or not quite full. I have two of these bags, and they've been around the country with me several times. I installed the passenger seat and footpegs on my Rebel, but I rarely (never) ride with a pillion. The rear seat does a good job of holding a roll bag, but I prefer the look of the Honda solo rack. However, the passenger footpegs make a convenient place to secure the straps for the bags, I left those on the bike after removing the passenger seat and backrest. The saddlebags are the Honda accessories, but I'm running two of the left side (14L) bags. That's only possible because I upgraded the factory exhaust to the Coffman's Shorty. If you have the OEM exhaust, then you'll need the shorter right side bag (10L). Note that the Honda saddlebags and mounting frames are actually made by SW-MOTECH in Germany. So, you can use any of the SW-MOTECH SLC bags that use their 3-point mounting system. Sorry for the late reply, Dave... I just saw this comment! That's the RiderScan Blindspot Mirror: amzn.to/3nJjXLp . It really helps situational awareness in traffic. There is a learning curve to using it properly because the image is convex, but it becomes second nature after a few hours of riding. It's very rare for me to be caught off-guard with a cager hiding in my blind spot while I'm riding with one of these mirrors. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

Oh yes i miss your Rebel. Im thinking of getting either the Rebel 500 or NC750X DCT later. Currently using a CBF190 that i got for cheap,just need something for work/school commute till i have enough money to buy a new bike. Just curious,what is that yellow Honda the lady was riding on? A Honda that big i think its a Goldwing,but i've never seen a Goldwing looking like that before

Quasi, I also have Ryker rally and super cub. I’m in process of trading Super Cup for Rebel 1100. I’m 66and 5’7. Do you think I should get manual or DCT? Are you happy with your DCT?

Howdy, Raymond, and congrats on your moto choices! That's a tricky question regarding the Rebel 1100 manual vs DCT option. I'd recommend riding both (if you have the opportunity) to see which works better for you. I prefer the DCT because it suits the Rebel's cruiser theme very well. You can relax and let the bike do most of the work unless you want to take over the shifting to ride more aggressively. You might be interested in this video if you haven't seen it: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mZeqtqyjgNSpZbw.html . The 1100 has a very torquey engine, so the combination of the DCT and the HSTC (traction control) does a great job of keeping you out of trouble. When riding the DCT version, you never need to worry about slipping the clutch, stalling the engine at stops, feathering the clutch in stop-and-go traffic, or hunting for the right gear... the DCT takes care of everything. The "sport" or "manual" riding modes allow more control of the DCT's shifting, but it's not the same as a manual transmission because the DCT constantly manages the clutch engagement. However, I think that's probably not a bad thing. I'm almost certain that the DCT's clutches will outlast the manual version because ham-fisted riders will likely burn the clutch plates faster in the manual vs the DCT. The computer always manages the clutch slip to maximize efficiency and minimize clutch wear. Upshifts are lightning quick and nearly imperceptible; downshifts are equally as fast, and the automatic rev-matching ("throttle blips") is nearly seamless in most cases. The only times I wish I had a manual clutch are when I'm riding aggressively, downshifting, and/or trail braking into corners. The DCT doesn't modulate the clutch as well as an experienced rider, which can lead to changes in cornering lines due to unexpected DCT gear shifts. The bike can tip in suddenly due to reduced momentum from a downshift, which requires line correction in mid-corner. I adjusted my riding habits to compensate for this with more deliberate braking and manual gear selection before setting my lines into corners. So, I think the DCT is better in 9/10 riding scenarios, and it would be my choice overall. If you're an experienced rider and intend to ride very sporty or aggressively, the manual version is probably a better fit because you'll have more tactile and progressive control over the clutch engagement. For all other situations, the DCT wins in my book. Cheers, and good luck shopping for your new Rebel 1100! 😉👍 --QM

Yep! I typically carry a 10' roll of stainless-steel safety wire in my road kit for emergency repairs. Unfortunately for that lady on the VFR, nothig short of a portable welder or a spare drop link would have fixed that broken suspension strut. 😉👍 --QM
