A Bucket List Ride to the Loneliest Road In Maryland
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
They call this ride to Hooper's Island "Maryland's Loneliest Road", and for good reason. Hoopers Island Road spans nearly 9 scenic miles, with many stretches of the road having nothing but water and nature as far as the eyes can see. This "lonely road" once brought you to all three sections of Hooper's Island, however the lowest island is no longer accessible anymore as it's been slowly lost to the tides. In fact, every year the islands lose over 24 acres to erosion, storms, and flood damage! And as you can see in the video...the damage and land loss is pretty evident.
This ride has been a "bucket list ride" of mine for years now, ever since I saw this article (www.onlyinyourstate.com/maryl...) calling it Maryland's Loneliest Road. And I have to say, it DID NOT disappoint! Such a beautiful ride full of history and nature. It's definitely one of my absolute favorite motorcycle rides I've done here in Maryland!
So...where should we ride the Rebel 1100 next?!

If this isn't a promo vid for why people should ride then idk what would be. This is amazing.

The best compliment dude, thank you!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
That turtle you found was a Diamondback Terrapin, which are endangered! They live in brackish water so I'm sure the reclaimed land will serve the turtles well

The university of Maryland should use them as their mascot. That would make sense.
I lived in southern Maryland for 36 years and this is the first time I've heard of this.
Dang your state is beautiful Burch.. Every time you go on the longer rides it really showcases Maryland.

Thanks dude!! I love being able to show how beautiful this area is! And honestly most of this stuff I would never even see if it weren’t for the bikes 🙌🏻

Maryland is nice when you get out of the shitholes like the DC suburbs and Baltimore
Going over the Bay Bridge is horrible enough in a car, I did it once on a bike and it was nerve-wracking. That road looks awesome, and I didn't even know it was a thing.
Roooooad trips! THIS is what we needed from you, yes!

I love living on the eastern shore of Maryland anytime I go out and ride i can always find some of the most amazing places
You are exactly the type of rider I'd love to have as a riding buddy. I'm into nature, good views, and old buildings. No one i know would stop for me to check things out like that. Need more people who appreciate the journey to its full potential.
The summer vibes are hereeee!😌 what a gorgeous adventure!☀️

@KomotoVlogs tell Mike to stop keeping all the good spots to himself, lmao😂😂😂.
Yes, Mr Burch, in the big scheme of things it is only our own thoughts that echo in our minds..... lol, Maryland has some unique spots & I've seen many from within the Chesapeake Bay from a boat. Down in the southern corner of the State both Virginia & Maryland share the peninsula & it's a rare place to travel. Thanks for showing us your journey..... peace & do be safe
7:40 Excellent perspective and one of the things I think about when taking back country rides and see something similar
I just wanted to say thanks for the video. I don’t have a bike, but my girl and I drove through the area because of this
Thank you! I have been a bit homesick, and the Maryland Eastern Shore was my families favorite place to visit in the summer.
Thanks for the recommendation. I don't ride but stumbled across your channel. Took my sports car out to Hooper's island. Was a nice drive!
What a breath-taking video! I love the little Water Snails 🐌! Awww!! ❤️
Well hey man, no way! I’m in Columbia. When you posted this vid I was on the opposite side of the state, riding along 70 out to Point Lookout Overlook with an InstaX Mini doing the same thing but in the forested terrains. Highly recommend, the view is incredible, and you can see on the opposite side of the bank of a river, that’s where WV begins. Hope to catch ya out there!
Rides like that are good for the soul.
Gotta love Sundays. Be safe this weekend and tomorrow everyone, lotsa a drunkies on Memorial Day and Memorial Day Weekend.

I live on the Eastern Shore, grew up here. Good to see someone showing the sights we have here. You should ride out to Elliot Island sometime. Quite beautiful out there.
My favorite vids are you exploring! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks for taking us along to your adventure, such a lovely and yet a lonely place

Thanks for watching! Hands down one of my favorite trips yet 🙌🏻🙏🏻
Hey Burch if you want to see some amazing country side, check out the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia. Loads of mountains and rolling hills with some beautiful farm land.
Outstaning video and THANK YOU! I've only been a little past Old Salty's restaurant. Now I have to ride that road and bridge. Incredible. Ride safe and have fun.
What an extraordinary place! My mind is a bit blown by that, I just can't imagine what it must be like living there... & some really fancy houses, too! Damn.
That baby turtle you found is a Diamondback Terrapin, the official state reptile of Maryland! It is also believed to be the only turtle in the world that lives exclusively in brackish water, and a species in decline of conversation concern.
I'm about to make this into a weekend trip this fall! Kind of forget how much cool stuff there is in my own home state to see.
Heck yeah! Glad you finally made it down there. It's so worth it. PS the H on the ground you double glanced at is for helicopters to know where to land. I looked it up when Bob & I went there.
Great scenery man! That's the kind of ride I like- to see the scenery, especially without major traffic on a big highway.
This is so cool I deliver water out here to remote customers in a class b truck I love you showing of the beautiful eastern shore!
Oh man! I’m in VA - now this is on my list bro!!! Thank you! -Jonathan

Definitely going to try to make this drive this summer.
Love these sorts of trips to places off the beaten path--definitely wanderlust-inspiring!
Thanks for this great vid. I found this route scouring at a map looking for a fun trip with my Gladiator. Haven’t done it yet so this was a great preview. Hoping I can just pull off and pop up my RTT for the night. 🤙
lol I just did this last weekend. I love riding around blackwater river.
Didn even know about this route. I'm gonna need to do this drive very soon.

It really was such a nice trip! And I’m a nature lover through and through, so I was pleasantly surprised I got to see so much wildlife! Just a few miles from this place is Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, so I’ll definitely have to make time to get out there one day 🙌🏻
From one Burch to another --- nice video!
Love these kinds of videos from you! My fiance and I both just got our first 300cc motorcycles (Rebel / CB300R). I've been watching your vids since we started on Groms earlier this year and its given us an appreciation for just riding, exploring, and meeting other riders.

This is cool to know, im moving to Maryland beginning of next year, no friends, no community, starting over from zero but im gonna get a bike and def want to try this.
Love this I’m stuck at work 12 hours at urgent care but I can watch this awesome. I love Maryland. East coast baby. NYer here
Fantastic vid! Loved it!
Bro I literally just did that ride a couple weeks ago didn’t even know it was a thing I just started riding and found hoopers island… the camera doesn’t do it justice its such a peaceful ride
Squirrel, 🐿️. That’s a great idea since you showed the road and talked about it did you find something that was seemingly totally mind blowing? Cool video and great work.
Thanks for the fun informative vid 😊
Bro, the ending with the music and your back to cam just chilling on rocks, that could be a Polaroid of it's own, whole ass vibe right there.

thanks for this video..I live on kent island and now I know where I'm going tomorrow
Great video Burch !! 🤙🏽
Awesome place to ride 🏍😍 For safe riding in the heat (below 37C/100F) I have a mesh jacket. It's awesome when the wind blows through the jacket while riding 😁
Another amazing video as usual brother! Would you be willing to publish your music playlist? The stuff you played in this one is perfect!
I drive down this road pretty regularly for work. It's such a relaxing road. I just got my first bike and plan on heading there soon. Also those houses do flood. All of hoopers is sinking. Lol.
What was the Yard Skeletons theme? Super cool you made it out there, man. We'll have to do a group ride and hit wildlife drive. 🤘
the trip was great. Your motorbike and style are so cool. I love all

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I just love your positivity man! I'm not sure if you're familiar with Freddie Dobbs' youtube channel from the UK, but he's always got positive vibes going too. Between the two of you it's a toss up who's my favorite moto vlogger lol. Every time I watch y'alls videos I just want to hop back on my bike, even if I've just ridden. Keep it up, and ride safe sir!
Water on both sides and long bridge, yup! Chesapeake Bay Bridge is I think 17 miles of that, VA beach area.
Love Hoopers! Great food too!
This is cool, Eastern Maryland looks awesome, I’ve only seen Maryland around DC and Baltimore and would never go there willingly and just assumed the rest of the state was like that lmao. Might have to go explore a bit, looks safe and quaint
From Annapolis too! If you ever need to ride we have about 6 of us that get together and cruise all over. We meet at Broadleaf Tobacco in Severna Park. Stay wheels down amigo!
Good video dude ✌🏻

Yo Burch! Great video buddy. Beautiful stuff. And if it helps answer your question of 'do those people ever get jaded at their cool houses', prior to my last relocation, I was in the San Francisco Bay area and lived in a beautiful area near the Bay and had a retarded view of the water and green hills, plus the glorious Mt. Tamalpais behind my house. And literally, every day for the 14 years I was there, I felt truly grateful & blessed to be there. The novelty of it Never wore off. Cheers homie. 🤘🥸🤘 🍻
did hoopers island today and black water and taylors then stoped at sailwinds had some lunch on rt 50 and headed home to ok i live around here went home to Hurlock injoy the ride just watch out for the deer!
I rode this the other week it’s beautiful
Cool ride dude loved it...

Great video, thxs for taking us on the ride. What is the bird call app? Too cool!
This is kind of wild to see. I live in Easton and I'm also a huge birder and I've been wanting to get into motorcycles. If you ever want a good birding spot on the Eastern Shore, I/we know a lot of great spots!
thanks for making great videos. I am a fellow motorcycle rider, I watch you drinking coffee sitting in my recliner in Connecticut. I like how genuine you are. A great variety of videos. I really like when you hop on the bike and go get a taco. I wish I could afford the bikes you have. I ride a 2003 BMW F650CS,, because it checked all the boxes(fuel injection, ABS, and no chain to maintain) and I could by it without a loan . What do you like most about your rebel? Peace.
Love the vids. You should come out to Michigan and ride. I think you'd love it. Don't have my 1100 or endorsement yet 😂 but I'll have it soon enough and I'm looking forward to taking rides like this around here.
Man I love living in maryland
Just had an Idea... Why not do a another Roadtrip back to Old Saltys (13:00) in a few months when its open, but do a "double vlog" with @KomotoVlogs ? Also, love the roadtip videos and greetings from Germany!

Great idea man! I was telling Nina I had to take her on this ride soon, so it would be rad to stop by Old Salty’s that time and maybe have her make a video from her perspective of the ride 🤔 Thanks for watching from so far away!! 🙌🏻🙏🏻
I live in Delaware and ride that all the time. It's a nice ride. Blackwater Wildlife refuge leading into Hoopers is nice and quiet. Curves and scenery! Word of advise, check the tides before going out. The water crosses the road in several places during high tide. You do NOT want that water on your bike. Oh, the police DO patrol and sit on the roads so consider that before you decide to open her up and also be mindful of crossing wildlife. Keep your awareness up.
Touching on the erosion comments at 6:00. This is a constant thing that the earth has always done. I find it aggravating that we freak out because our expensive coastline real estate disappears every year. I live on Cape Cod in New England, and every couple of years, the people on the outer Cape demand that the state or the town build sea walls and other structures to stop erosion. This is just a natural thing that the earth does, and in my opinion, disrupting that natural flow adds to all the climate change the world is constantly on about.
AWESOME! the general store in my hometown sold gas the same way! and if you are loving the views here, you might check out the great lakes, i know they're a helluva trip but they are BREATHTAKING
Damn, I miss you Maryland
I'm wanting to try Smith Island for a piece of cake!
Ah damn I was just in leonardtown maryland last week would've been sick to see ya!

@LifeOfBurch the CBBT is a bucket list ride in and of itself. 17 straight miles of water and bridge. Add to it Colonial Parkway from the Yorktown battlefield through Williamsburg, then to the Jamestown settlement.
Rude burger is amazing. Me and the wife goes there alot.
1:55 my mom is obsessed with this app right now hahaha I cant blame either of you it's so interesting
23:37 missed opportunity to add the Mr. Krabs walking sound
I have been to a few islands where the road was only above water at low tide. One of which I drove to when it wasn't. That was interesting.

Do more exploration type vlogs, it's what riding's all about. Not the specs, the places.
Kinda cool coming across local peoples channels. Im over in linthicum. Scooter rider
awesome video, was that a racoon at the end?
Use to live on the eastern shore. Its got some nice spots and lots of scenic water roads but it kinda sucks to live there
If you head back to the General store, try the fries. They are really good but only if you have the time. Edit: Be very careful when it comes to the sharp turns.
