This game was class.

One of the best intros of all time, and by far my favorite scenes are the one in the ancient age and gunpowder/enlightenment, with that said every single scene captures the essence of their respective eras, it's just that for some reason I get goosebumps with ancient and gunpowder, maybe it's the music or something! Long story short - This is one of the best intros of all time, not just of RTS games but in general, the only other one I can think of that captures the feeling of an era is GTA: Vice City's intro but even that one is not as good as this. P.S: 1:10 "..(Η) Δική μας επιρροή φθείρεται(?) στα σύνορα εδώ. Πέραν αυτά σύνορα.." (Tranlit. : I diki mas epiroi fthirete sta sinora edo. Peran afta sinora) "...Our influence stops at these borders over here. Over these borders..." It's amazing that they went SO far with their intro that the voice actors actually used Ancient Greek! - There's also that part at 2:00 where they're talking German but sadly I can't understand it so if anyone can transcribe it and translate it that would be really cool :)

A history encyclopedia in a game. Epic.

This intro is probably quite responsible for my undying love of historical RTS games. Especially of the empire-building sort and less the war bit.

Last game was released in 2006 or 2012. I definitely pay it(pre-order)

I only now just realized there's an anachronism in my favorite scene from the intro: At 2:00 is the iconic scene showing a German infantryman communicating over a table-top radio while the enemy approaches with infantry and tanks. Apparently, voice-radio technology was not available at all throughout the First World War, with electronic communication only being limited to landline telegraphs. Even airplane pilots only had access to primitive one-way wireless telegraphs so they can send scouting information back to HQ, so they flew completely without voice communication with other pilots or home base!

@archidization They're Spartans, I think. I've read up quite a bit on the city-states in the past and if I recall correctly, the Athenians tended to use blue banners and the Spartans red. Then again, my memory isn't perfect.

@johnanth I think they're supposed to be Athenians mate. You can see the Acropolis with the Parthenon in the background and even if they're not Athenians they can't be Spartans because they don't carry the right banners or symbols on their shields and plus they don't wear red capes. Again it's just a game it can't be 100% historically accurate

Yo, I personally only like playing up to the "Gunpowder Age" in a customize solo game. I dislike playing in the modern era. Nukes, unlimited soldiers and tanks w/ annoying jetfighters is all too boring and time consuming. I luv the Ancient stuff =D
