at 0:10 the cavelary appear to be running over the infantry i have never seen this before in an rts game this game looks awsome

TaZaZaZ chaba I play both this and age of empires, both are awesome games But rise of nations has more variety in terms of gameplay. Sick of fighting with spears and swords ?, just nuke the fuckers

TaZaZaZ chaba yeah rise is way better. You can also stay in medieval age on RoN and fight with spears and stuff if you wish. 

They should put rise of nations on steam just like they did with age of empires!

Absolutely loved the whole RoN series. Still play it to this day =D Only one problem with it though, and that's the fact that the troops never stay in formation. Now, this can be a pain in the arse when trying to take a city strategically, but it's TORTUROUS if, like me, you have OCD... That's all XD

i like how the game was released over 6 years ago and it's still amazing even by today's standards

The day the producers remaster this game, I won't stop playing it!

Then limit the game to reach only until early info age.

The only complaint I have about this game is that they didn't add an age or two above Information Age... and it felt like a few resources were missing like "Gold" or simple things like "Fossil Fuels". Rare resources that added oil bonuses. The only reason I mention gold is because why not? Gold is like, huge for games like that. Plus, how awesome would it have been to see hovering tanks and laser weapons on the last age? Lets say the next couple of ages were "Quantum Age" and "Space Age"? Then two wonders for each... lets say for the Quantum Age a wonder could be... "Genetics Lab" which gives a bonus to military hp and speed. Then another wonder for that age could be the "Bio Dome" which raises the commerce cap up to 1200 instead of 999. Then in the Space Age you have the "Orbital Elevator" which could increase the output of Rare Resources by say 50% and upgrade Air units to do a bit more damage and fly faster... or farther even. Then another wonder for the Space Age that could further increase the Pop Cap for military uses. I dunno. I guess I'm asking too much but either way RoN is a bloody amazing game and it has wasted a lot of my time lol. I wonder if they'd ever work on a RoN 2...

Wealth is Gold and Oil is Fossil Fuels. But I agree, they should have added at least another couple ages beyond Information. Also, "Medieval" age? Seriously?

Bal Mungram Lol I mean I knew the resources oil and gems but what I meant was they need to have more things like Lithium or even Tar Pits for stuff like the oil resource, or maybe y'know like actual Gold for a resource, or even Platinum for wealth. I dunno. It would have been sick to have a hovering tank that can go across water like in Civ: Beyond Earth, but maybe that would've been too OP.

I wanted walls too. However due to the nature of the game (variable borders) I find it a bit impractical.

Hold the right mouse button and scroll the wheel: that expands or tightens the formation's line. If you want to actually change formation like wedge and stuff, there's the button to do it in the bottom left panel.

Ur armies look so organized lol my units are all over the place

to make square formation u simply select the units and then use the scroll wheel on your mouse to adjust the formation, i didn't know that either for a long time

i have this, so much fun!!

In order to get your men to line up the way they do, your right click where you want the units to move and scroll up and down with the mouse wheel. It's quite simple actually.

To get them to march like that u have to scroll with the scrolling wheel in the mouse it changes the way they march.

It's 2022 and I'm still playing. On Slow speed and Tough difficulty. Having fun though, that's what counts. Most dynamic game I've ever seen.

@taun777 I beg to differ. Rise of Nations wasn't a cookie cutter RTS. It looked at what wasn't working in an Age type RTS and seeked to rectify it. And it did a marvelous job at it.

you must click in options menu for the stance of ur soldiers... if u let them stay aggresive, they'll scatter, but if u make em stand their ground, they won't move but simply fire at any enemy within their range...

On the campaigns where you conquer the world do you HAVE to have red as your color or can you use another? If so, how?

Say on the "conquer the world" campaigns can you select any color other than red? I would prefer green.

what i love to do in this game is have all the nations in the world go at it in teams of 4. but a situation like that actually gives you axperience in attack and defense.

its technically line formation. while your selecting formations, you can use mouse wheel to choose whether the line is like long or thick. same with the other formations.

Select the army u want, press the 2nd button and then use the scroll thing that ur mouse has.

It's been almost ten years... TEN. FUCKING. YEARS.

@SPRUCEstreetkilla No, if you pause at 1:22, the guys on the right aren't the British musketeers, because they look exactly like the guys on the cannons, with the tall hats. I'm talking about those triangular hat guys on the right side. Actually, pausing at 1:21 gives you a frontal view of them.

How do I make the units go into a perfect square like that?

I want to get this game again, for my birthday, because I miss the Indian and other units not in Age of Empires Conquerors or Rome Total War. Also, I miss ICBMs, nukes, the RoN diplomacy and borders, and the smooth look of warfare it has. War is so fun in games.

@SPRUCEstreetkilla possibly, I just played it recently and learned that the French have a second unique unit that is only featured in the Napoleon campaign, called the Old Guard, so that's probably who it is.
