“You have not seen what I have seen” is said with a slight smile, as though she gains pleasure from bettering others arrogantly. If she had indeed seen something horrible, she would say the line with fear and despair, not cocky glee. God she’s vile in this show 😅

The whole show is just littered with concepts the writers thought they understood, but only managed to represent in rudimentary ways. Galadriel being bold and proud is actually pretty fitting to the lore, and even if it isn't, it would still make a bit of sense in terms of giving her a story arc where she grows. But being bold and proud isn't her only personality, because she's also compassionate, perceptive, and wise. What it looks like to me is the writers didn't have the thoughtfulness or skill to create an actually strong and complex character, and so... we have this 2D version of Galadriel instead.

Its actually not the actor's fault, apparently with interviews, we found out that the Actors had to recreate their characteristic with minimal direction, because apparently the writers haven't even thought out that far yet. Apparently there was too many possible interpretations for each scene that even the Actors don't know what they were suppose to show because the Show runner doesn't know what they were trying to do and the Writers are confused.

@@ChallengeIdeas It's actually implied in one of their flashbacks that the elves left Aman with many many ships (and that the main reason they went after Melkor is because of the destruction of the Two Trees) which means the Kinslaying in Alqualonde never happened (in this cringe fanfiction) AND the show never showed any crossing in Helcaraxe ....so....that means, in this fanfic's lOrE, Fëanor is actually THE wholesome GOOD guy. Hahahaha. So naturally, because their writers are clowns, they made the one character in Tolkien's lore who hated Fëanor so much, into a discount version of him. 🤣 Minus Fëanor's crafting skills, charisma, speech skills, and family issues.

@@Parafilm1337 I was hoping someone would point this out so i could tell them how i thought this through. lol Firstly lets quickly acknowledge that in Batwoman she already has access to the suit, she just literally couldn't wear it. But in the context of LOTR, when she tells Sauron "It will be, when it fits a woman.", clearly that means "It will be, when i'm wearing it.". (when it changes its size to fit a woman) And why would she say this to him? Because clearly she doesn't have it yet, he does. So then you realize the real scenario going on here. When Sauron said "This ring is literal perfection" he was boasting about his precious, taunting at Galadriel who couldn't have it. lol And so to try hurt his feels and let the audience know she's a feminist she says "It will be, when it fits a woman.". And also if it didn't change size then they'd clearly have to try reforge it but then that'd just be making a whole new ring. But making a smaller suit would be a different suit too, so really to be more like Batwoman it'd have to make less sense. Of course she meant "When you make one that fits a woman." but that just wouldn't sound as cool. But anyway. lol Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Am I just stuck in confirmation bias? Am I only watching what I'm watching because of "the algorithm"? That place is supposed to be 10 times as grand as Gondor was in its freaking prime and it doesn't hold a candle to Minas Tirith (WHICH ISN'T EVEN THE ORIGINAL CAPITAL OF GONDOR! Osgiliath was). Also, Eldrond's brother is the progenitor of the Numenorian kings. It would have made WAY more sense for him to be there helping them out as they're related to him. Also, Galadriel is the oldest elf in Middle Earth. I'm pretty sure Gil-Galad's father is one of her brothers. I don't understand why she acts like a 20 year old karen when Galadriel is thousands of years old. For Reference, Arwen and Legolas are both like 2-3 thousand years old in LOTR and act like otherworldly stoic beings. Galadriel is less mature than human characters in the setting. I watched this and was so mildly entertained, horribly confused, pretty frustrated throughout. I would rather have just been so offended by the changes that I would have steered clear in the first place! Imagine loving this series (yikes) and looking into the source material to find it is completely different, and a million times better, lol.

It's also a true statement, which seems like an odd thing to congratulate, but given that we were treated to what I would carefully describe as an "esoteric interpretation of the archimedean principle" in one of the opening scenes, I guess this is where we're at now.

What I meant, however, was a secondary meaning of the world relating closer to what some call western esotericism. I know from certain who individuals who have connections to the show that it was a knightmare behind the scenes. people were fired left and right, writers couldn't agree what story they wanted to tell, the show was originally about a young Aragorn, some wanted to adapt the Silmarillion but didn't have the adaption rights to the book, the Tolkien estate giving them a long list of things they could and couldn't do on the show such as referencing the movies (even though the showrunners wanted to connect ROP to the movies) writers being fired because they wanted to insert more woke elemets into the show and was met with disapproval, a Tolkien scholar being fired, COVID19 impacting everything, the originally being 10 episodes but somewhere being changed to 8 instead, Jeff Bezos allegedly visiting the set and was furious on what he saw and demanded changes to be made in the middle of shooting. All in all, this show was produced with everyone's hands tied behind their backs, not really knowing what they wanted to do and the clock was ticking, and the best they could come up with was fan fiction.

I gave up after episode 1, and from what I've seen I'm glad of that, so thanks for doing these reviews. Did they address how all those 16 other rings later given to men (9) and dwarves (7) come about? I'm pretty sure they're rather important later. In the books, they are made first with the aid of Sauron, and the 3 are then made by the elves alone, but in the show that can't happen now. Sauron has been revealed, and if he can make them just on his own, why doesn't he make a load more? If they don't get made, then where do the Nazgul come from? If they get made after the three, why are they made at all, and why are they then less powerful than the 3?

I'm starting to believe the terrible acting of Galadriel is due to botox. Her forehead doesn't move, so it makes her acting even less believable than her ability allows. On the same note, whenever they do a close up of Galadriel, she does this random twitch of her cheeks/lip that is distracting as hell. Is that her idea of dramatic acting? Because it's terrible

She's a rank amateur who is WAY out of her depth. Admirable for her to shoot so high, but she's aiming for the moon with a slingshot. You want great acting done on the back of subtle facial expressions and closeups? Check out Javier Bardiem doing the "coin toss" scene in No Country For Old Men. Watch Dean Norris as Hank Schrader stare in disbelief once he realises who Heisenberg is. Watch Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler grapple with the dilemma of whether or not to stick up for Jimmy. Morfydd Clarke is a highschool theatre dropout, bumbling her way through her first ever big dramatic role with zero guidance and zero accountability.

I take your points, but I do think if the dialogue is clunky and terrible (as it is this show) then there’s only so much the actors can do with the material. Even if an actress you preferred was chosen for the role, there is still so much wrong with the script, dialogue and characterisation that we’d still have a problem. I don’t get how when editing the show, they didn’t realise how Unlikeable the character is. We’re supposed to root for her, but more people seem to side with Sauron. 😂

I think they made a fairly basic error with Galadriel: They assumed sympathy from the audience and thus abstained from creating any counter-balance to her her otherwise partly narcissistic and partly PTSD-like behaviour (effectively creating a sort of one-dimensional cheap comic book villain type of character) And I think it’s likely that it happened because they thought that: - Having a “strong” female lead would automatically garner sympathy, mistaking the cultural climate for character building. - Having “strong” being mistaken with: being good at everything by default and having an attitude of being better than everyone else with any questionable trait explainable as a tragically endearing response to the blatant evil of others. - Combining this with being a pretty, blond person in theatrical attires so as to suggest a perpetual state of being the light of the world. If you buy that I would concede that there is a chance you might find her destructive and manipulative behaviour interesting or even justified. The thing is that it is just not on the page. I would further suggest that this may be a product of a confusion about the relationship between fiction and reality, where certain perceptions of what is real is injected or superficially referenced or signalled within the format of fiction - actually rendering fiction not really fictitious at all. This all stems from the flawed perception that preferred ideologies of the proposed real are themselves not narratives but simply referencing some natural state of reality as is.

Would’ve went a long way if they just off screened Sauron telling Celebrinbor how to improve the rings, we could’ve assumed whatever was said furthered his plot. Could’ve just had them discussing the rings, implying Cele is the best and he already did his best, and ending with Sauron saying something that peaks his interest in the possibility of creating better rings than he thought possible. And then end the scene before he gives a technical break down on how they’re gonna do it

You realize Sauron spent 300 years teaching them this craft, right? It would be like teaching someone how to build a modern day computer from scratch, making the parts yourself without factories or industry. It would take forever, and tons of secrets it would involve Just saying one thing that 'peaks his interest' is stupid. That isn't how things work; it isn't that simple to craft magic rings

@@sinchill5424 10 reasons why I choose Tauriel over Guyladriel: 1. She's played by Evangeline Lily and she actually managed to make me feel for her despite the mediocre script and cringe lines. 2. Even if she's like a teenage girl falling for a guy she meet in a day, she still acts like a responsible elf adult. 3. Compared to Guyladriel, she's just a wood elf/Silvan elf so it makes sense that she's immature and Silvan elves are known to be less wise and have less knowledge compared to the high elves. 4. Tauriel can be legit thousand of years younger than Guyladriel so, again, an explanation to her actions. 5. Tauriel have a more noble reason in defying her king (compared to Guyladriel's revenge blah blah), which is to look past their elven borders and offer help to those who needs it. We can see her helping Bard's family, the dwarves and she also tried to fight Bolg. Guyladriel's revenge bs is just a plot device, is never established, and the fact that they failed to make us care for her relationship with her brother really shows the lazy writing. 6. Tauriel, a captain guard, have more to her character aside from being an experienced elven warrior unlike Guyladriel who don't who she's supposed to be without her sword. Hell, we saw Tauriel heal Kili. She cares for the life and safety of others, even shows her maternal side when she's with Bard's daughters. 7. I have 0 problem with fighting style. She fights like an elf ninja and she's entertaining to watch. Yeah, she don't have the best fight scenes but hers are definitely 1000% better that Guyladriel's. 8. She can show different emotions lol. 9. She is not a Mary Sue or a Karen. 10. She's an original PJ character and not a butchered canon character.

The greatest mistake was that Galadriel would not have seen through Anatar being Sauron. Her greatest power was her rmpathic ability to see into the hearts of others and see their flaws. She did it with Feänor when he asked for a strand of her hair to place in a jewel (where was that beautiful hair in the show?). She looked into Saruman’s heart and saw his great flaws and consequently she would rather have had Gandalf as head of the White Council. And finally, she looked into the hearts of the Fellowship of the Ring and saw how Boromir was tempted by the power of the One Ring. How would she not have noticed something “off” about this Anatar character? How would she not have noticed he was an immensely powerful Maiar? How did this go over the heads of the ROP scriptwriters when they were building their “Badass” Galadriel?

She could not because Sauron was a master manipulator. He was simply more powerful than Galadriel. The problem with Galadriel is that she seems completely off character from the books. She is the most powerful character in Middle Earth. She is more powerful than Gandalf that kills the Balrog. Yet she seems to be completely unable to handle some puny humans.

Or it is like you see a great piece of jewelry in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and then order a cheap $5 ring from Walmart. Same feeling. Sad dissapointment.
