PG’s Perry Bean hung with Zao’s Scott Mellinger and Martin Lunn before their Nashville gig at The End. Zao has been melting faces and inciting hardcore dances since 1993 with 10 full-length albums, four EPs, a two-disc DVD documentary, and a tour that seemingly never ends.
On fly dates Scott Mellinger tours with one guitar, his ESP E-II Eclipse DB loaded with Fishman Fluence Willie Adler pickups. Since Mellinger tunes down to drop C, and sometimes down to B, he uses LaBella .011-.052 strings.
When bringing more guitars along isn’t a logistical nightmare, Scott Mellinger also packs an ESP Eclipse II and an ESP LTD Ron Wood signature model.
Martin Lunn plays a stock Ernie Ball Music Man StingRay bass strung with LaBella .50-.110 strings. He also plays with 1.13 mm InTune guitar picks.

Great to see a RR with Zao. Patrick who made their pedals is a good friend. He truly makes great stuff, amazing pedals.

Awesome to see more hardcore related bands on Premier Guitar!! Cult Leader and the band Daughters are both releasing new albums soon and have some sick sounds going on with their music. Hopefully we'll see more from Perry from this genre!

@@Deadletter6started as a christian band but moved further and further away from christian theology since Dan took over vox. They've never been a band made of 100% christian members and haven't claimed to be a christian band in many years.
What happened to the Rig Rundown with the Edge (U2)? Is it still being filmed or edited? Hoping it's still happening lol, Edge is one of the greats. Never heard of Zao but this was cool

n brodsky Russ has a really simple rig. Spoke to him at the last Houston date they played and he basically uses whatever type of 5150 amp (all versions are ok with him, he just uses the red channel) with a PolyTune. Cabs he uses are just whatever they supply for him. Really nice ESP Horizon for guitar

I use a Marshall JCM 800 Fifty Watt Amp. And use a Korg Pedal Tuner. Amongst other pedals that were manufactured by Abominable and Walrus Audio. So no, my current rig is not that simple of a setup.@@BurntTapeProductions2016
