people in the crowd don't know they are witnessing one of the best metalcore bands of all time

These guys changed my path in music in 1998 and I am forever grateful

It's wonderful that they still play stuff from their older albums. Most of the crowd have no idea what this band means for music.

Im lucky to have been introduced to zao back in 04 when funeral was coming out. From what i have seen, Zao either was everything, or you never heard of em haha.

One thing I love about zao is that they don’t shove their beliefs down peoples throat. Plus they have amazing breakdowns

5 Year Winter will always be timeless. Absolutely flawless. It was a privilege to experience this set in person.

I got to see Zao for the first time, early March 2024, and yeah, they were super cool. I didn't meet the drummer after the show, and I reached out my hand to the bass player, which he shook and kept on walking (maybe he was busy, I tried not to read into it), but I got to chat a few minutes each with Scott, Dan, and Russ separately. Very nice guys, very friendly, very cool. And these guys are making some of the best art of their career this late into the game. I wish them all the best, they rock.

Over rated speculation perhaps accurate in this instance.

There are two eras of metal. Pre-Zao and After Zao. They are legends.

Is it weird that I can cry listening to this? Not in a sad way but an "I love this so much" way. Been a fan since Blood and Fire. I miss the old Christian Hardcore Circuits we used to go to. Embodyment, Living Sacrifice, Zao, I mean, man I could go on. So much good metal back then. I was 17 then and needed it.

No way man. I still get a little emotional when i listen to blood and fire. Lies was the first song i heard in which I thought it was written for me. Thats the beauty of music.. hits everyone different.

One of the few bands in the "Christian" scene that was actually pushing music and honoring music for what it was and not using it as a vehicle to preach... just some dudes, with some faith, in a band... later inspired some of the best, The Chariot, MewithoutYou, Showdread.... genuine music with a positive backbone.... a rare beast these days...

That was Earth Crisis *last show*, Hatebreed still wasn't on Universal at the time and Candiria all played on the final night. anyhard core kid would be happy to see that in 01

The vocalist is reppin' Church of Misery shirt. Nice to see some love from OG metalcore band to OG doom band.

These guys were my first exposure to anything heavier than the grunge stuff that was popular on the radio back when I was 12. My real musical journey began there and I will always love these guys. Unfortunately, the only time I had tickets to see them live back in the day, their van died (or something) and they had to cancel the show.

Same for me, I was 11 and heard “a fall farewell” and had never heard anything heavier than probably system of a down or POD (flip I feel old now) I was immediately hooked. 32 now, still love ‘em.

These fake ass fuckin fads and kids trying to belong to a crowd or fit in to a genre of music.If they only knew the depth of this music and severity of what it means.Fuck the dress code fuck the spotlight Zao brings the utmost presence of the core of humanity to the stage.Givin there struggle's they refuse to submit to gimmicks or change for the masses attention.Granted a lot of past members They're held there name and band threw the years to be one of the most respected underground Groups still hitting the stage. Many bands i love that have changed to this pop sing scream metal to sell music and remain in the good graces of teenager's have paid tribute to zao as there starting inspiration.Unafraid to play the Christian based songs of there early years and still touch on very dark secular topics of late. never thought i'd find this band on a christian channel at first. i was just switching channels that day haha

i got saved when i was 16 and played drums in a band. we were putting on a local show (im from youngstown) and this girl we knew was like hey i know this band from akron that would play(turned out the drummer was steven cushman, to later be in narsisuss and reliant k) and they are friends with this band from WV that just got signed to tooth and nail called zao. i actually spelled their name 'Xao" on the flyer! LOL!!!!! good times!
