Came here for a transalp review ended up watching an Africa twin review
This was an excellent presentation ! Thanks!
Pretty good video. Enjoyed listening and the video footage was just right somehow
Useful comparisons to the AT 👍
Great review of the Africa Twin. I saw some exerts of thee Transalp in there too 😆
Not sure I'm really on board with the comparison to the Africa Twin. In terms of off road vs on road intentions the Trans Alp is definitely more a big CB500X than it is a mini Africa Twin to my mind. Even the new V-strom, which had always been a heavily road biased ADV, has more travel and clearance than the Transalp if I recall. This is by no means a bad thing, makes it an excellent road bike, but I feel like it's not aiming for the same sort of folks as the Africa Twin with it's more off road orientated setup. If it had cruise control it'd be on the short list to replace my old V-strom 1000 one day. I still really can't understand how none of the big four's middleweight ADVs offer it while the likes of KTM, Aprillia and even Moto Guzzi do. Truly baffling.
Can't wait for your review on Honda XL750 vs Suzuki VStrom 800~ the whole world is waiting lol

I think if you listen to video at the start, he mentions there have been a lot of questions regarding the comparisons between the Trans Alp and the Africa twin, hence covering the request. I found it helpful as I'm trying to choose between a used Africa Twin or a new Trans Alp, so it was helpful to hear his thoughts on the bikes back to back.

@@BikeRiderReviews Fair comment, and thanks for the reply. However, for those of us in the potential market for the Transalp (rather than a C B500X) at this time then a nuts and bolts review of that bike would have been helpful, rather than riding it along and saying virtually nothing about it at all. Nevertheless, I understand your needs and respect them. In retrospect, perhaps, it might have been better to do the comparison after a full review of the Transalp itself. Then everyone would be happy. It’s just life.

It would be worth doing a word count of Transalp against Africa twin. I'll give you 10/11 on that Africa twin is mentioned more often. Which is a bit odd on a Transalp review 🤔
I'd be tempted but... Tubed tyres? No way. If I get a puncture, I plug it, reinflate and ride off in 10 minutes. No way am I sitting at the side of a busy road in the rain and try to get the tyre off the rim without damaging the rims or hoping roadside recovery turn up. If it has to be tubed tyres, I'll pick a different bike. 🙄
Cruise. At. Least. Optional! If this rig (and the Suzuki) is designed to put on the miles, then it should be at least an option. You don't want it, don't get it. But for those who rack up miles, specially on highways on their way to wherever, it's a hugely welcome feature.

This is a great video if you want to learn about the Tenere or the Africa Twin.
Had 2 ATs a 2017 and 2020 loved them both. But started doing BDRs and at 5'8 they were a handful with 60lbs of luggage. Bought a T7 good bike as well but not enough power for me. Went through the gears fast and still kinda of top heavy. I'm first on the list at my dealer for a Transalp when they come to the USA. I will put some good dirt tires and should be just fine.

Yes, it´s much fuss these days about some minor details that can be fixed. Put in springs at the right rate for your weight, the right fork oil, appropriate tires and then try to exploit the potential of the bike - might take years to develop the skills where you could say, that it is not enough what the bike delivers.
Amazing value for the money. Well done Honda
love my modified 700 transalp (last of the real honda vtwins), if i was looking to change it would be a norden 901 or tuareg
It’s a nice bike. But I think £9.5k is expensive. £7k for a Hornet is better value if you ride more on the road. This vs the Africa Twin is a tough decision though. The AT is a good looking bike but heavy and tall. The XL750 will sell itself to those who want one bike to do it.
When is this thing dropping in the US?
They would sell so many more of them with just one missing feature. Cruise control. If it's a touring biased ADV bike cruise is a must in the US market where destinations are so far away.
As someone who is 6ft4 and has only had experience on dirtbikes, this and the new V-strom are looking pretty promising. I live in Houston soo travelling at highway speeds is a must, and having a bit of offroad capability helps get me to my parents house in a logging town or go camping.

I’m only an inch shorter and grew up riding dirt bikes as a kid 40+ years ago. Have done a few years of just racing (home track was Phillip Island) and these days I’m lucky to have bikes for each intended purpose. If I want to spend decent time on dirt then I trailer a bike, same scenario for the occasional track day and a couple of bikes just for the streets. However, if you are looking for a bike that is capable of the highways and some light off roading then I don’t think you will go wrong with either of the bikes you have mentioned. If it was me at 6’3”, I’d be going with the Suzuki. That suspension it has is worth the price difference alone. Plus you get the accessories the Honda has as standard. Plus when you add the sump guard, crash bars to the Honda the curb weights will be much closer. Good luck.

if Honda put 750 cc on crf300 rally, maybe their customers are a lot happier.
The AT Adventure Sports holds more fuel higher up on the taller chassis. The higher center of gravity is enough to ruin that bikes handling off road. The Transalp will feel much better in that regard and be easier by far to pick up by yourself.

I'm a girl. No problems with ATAS offroad. It's not a dirtbike, but it's still agile, easy to balance and predictable.
Is it available in singapore?
I think Honda blew it with the 750 Transalp. They built an adventure bike for how most adventure bike owners will ride and not the bike they want. Judging by all the videos and comments under those videos, the first thing most adventure bike owners do is modify them to be more dirt capable. I read that the typical adventure bike owner spends $2,000 upgrading their bike with most of it for improved dirt worthiness. Honda put the Transalp further away (and therefore more upgrading) to where most adventure bike owners want thier bikes to be, regardless of how they actually ride.

like most people do is spent about $2k on upgrading a new bike to suit them selfs but if you buy a transalp and spend 2k on suspension its still going to cheaper than a T7 and the just be a capable as a T7 in the dirt if not better with more power

Honda designated it a XL750 not a CRF750. The Africa was deemed worthy of the title CRF1100.
Not really clear on the likes of the bike. Garbled with the Africa twin endorsement. Would have liked to have heard about how it felt over bumps, bottoming out?, Power going up hills? Balance?

Still not as good as a Tenere or Africa Twin (it's lower and more road-biased than both), but still easily good enough for gravel roads like the ones we were on
They should have just bring back XLV750R put in fuell injected hydroulic valve engine 800-900cc . Fully adjustible suspensions. Keep the fuel tank like where 650GS or KTM 890S keeps. With a smart desing multi or infinite position windscreen. Maintaining the seat hight no more higher than BMW F750GS idealy while still keeping 21inch front wheel setup all around spoked tubeless tires. That would be perfect . I don't realy nead all those riding modes as long as i have ABS with on off button that function while while moving.
Just last week i bought a Tuareg 660 which is almost the same price as the Transalp and the Suzuki 800DE. The Tuareg has lots of tech in it though and I don’t get why XL50 and 800DE wont have cruise control (I just need cruise control in my life for traveling and touring :D). Time will tell whether Aprilia is as durable as the Japanese manufacturers, but I‘m not up for paying the same amount of money for less bike. Great video as always! Love this format!

Not to be a spec warrior: If Honda would’ve upped the suspension components I’d be a buyer. I’m skeptical if they pulled a CRF300L regarding suspension. And then the “Honda tax”….
Not sure why al lthe reviewers diss its offroad ability when, it seems, they had about 10 miles of graded road to test on.
Is it a "fun motor"? I think the average buyer does more touring and street than dirt so I think the higher revving motor is probably fine. But the price of these is right at what used AT's are going for. Tough sell to buy a new one of these vs a used AT possibly set up with luggage and stuff.

That transalp 750 is much unlike any Honda. Very rarely does Honda tune engines to 120hp/litre. Usually below 100hp/litre.
