The 2024 AT is a great upgrade, finally honda have fitted tubeless wheels (which will benefit atleast 90% of owners, who spend most of their riding on roads). Out of all the big ADV bikes I’ve owned or spent a decent time on, the Honda showa electronic suspension is the best. So with those new additions and cruise control, an adjustable screen and Apple CarPlay, the AT is the top of the pile for me now 👍🏻

As for ES, I've never had it before and I'm an old dirt biker used to dialing in my own suspension, so I'm fine without it and will gain from 4.4 lbs less weight. Set up your suspension for off road without extra payload and then you will only need quick preload change when you add payload.

Couldn't agree more. Lots of people complaining about the 19" front on the Adventure Sport, but in 2024 Honda have simply given you the best of both worlds. I have a 2023 Adventure Sport, but if I was going again, it would be the base model with ES and I would probably stay with the DCT as well. Maintains the offroad focus of the base model (without compromising it in any way), but with options for all the goodies that were only previously available on the Adventure Sport.

How have the Honda version of the perimeter tubeless spoked wheels held up on the AS model? I always wanted this on my 2016 and then experienced very early failure on the european bike that I replaced it with that had the perimeter spoke design. Are Honda's tubeless spoke wheels up to serious offroading?

@simonportlock586 after converting my Africa Twin to tubeless using an Outex Kit I did just that. Luckily I never had to use it. I still preferred a quick plug and go that tubeless gives me and kept the tube as an emergency measure only. With this new Africa Twin and its perimeter spoke design, my concern stands with the easily damaged wheel. They can be expensive, as I have learned the hard way.

Couldn’t agree more……but I felt that way in 2016 when it first came out….then again in 2018 with the ADV Sports model. Honda blew it in 2020 until this updated 2024 IMHO, seemed too unfocused until this model. I could go on but aside from a wee more power and less weight in the future, this new ones in basic form would be my pic. Nice review Bob. 🖖

It’s also the best sounding adv bike out there. Of course any parallel twin with a 270° crank is. I have a 2017 still absolutely love it. I have an Ohlins shock and Ohlins internals in the forks but it makes me wonder how easy electronic suspension is to service. I’m debating getting a new AT in the next year or two.

Thanks for another awesome review. I just can't get my head around the 19" front on the Adventure. Down here in Africa and probably Aus we need fuel range. So the Adventure model would be the default for proper overlanding. BMW or Honda, same option for both. Who love fuel bladders 😮 So why would you buy the larger fuel tank bike if you not planning to do proper overlanding? If you gonna do proper overlanding you need a 21" front. This is the same as Land Rover fitting out a old Defender with road tyres and suspension as factory and trying to sell you a Discovery as the most capable model.

I go with my friend who has a new AT on all the dirt roads, off road camping...I prefer my Ducati Multi V4S which does everything the AT does but i feel better. 🤭🤫 Dont tell him that. We both dropped our bikes cause he had the bright idea to stop on a steep incline, i was to close and he ended up rolling back into me taking us both down like bowling pins. With all my tech bits nothing broke and everything still worked. Got a few scrapes which i like having on the bike showing everyone what a bad ass i am. ;) Im bias.

When i selected my adventure bike i made sure i rode them all. And i did. I rode the AT, GS, Tiger's, Tenere, i opted not to do KTM because i loath the way they look. If it were the best id hate walking up to it. I took the Duc because it was the most comfortable ergo, AND ride quality. Super soft if you want, nice and hard if you need it, fantastic sport which none of the others offer, and capable off roading. Like i said i ride off road and on w/ this lots of moto camping, it has the chops to do it all. Heated grips AND seat, radar cruise, quick shifter, rev match i mean it does do it all. The others did some or most but not all of that. On top of that the next best GS was not as comfortable in the ride quality! Im splitting hairs here but if I'm dropping 30k on a bike I'm gonna SPLIT HAIRS. Brand aside i was biased and came away buying the duc and loving it for it.

Undoubtedly the best looking adventure bike, 100%. Finally tubeless wheels and Apple CarPlay is superb, just one thing Honda, where do I put my phone? Bluetooth dongle works brilliantly with the AT’s Apple CarPlay, why the hell do all the other manufacturers fit huge tft’s, and not utilise Apple CarPlay and Android alternative. 👍

A TFT without CarPlay rally is missing the mark in 2024. IMO Honda has stolen a march on everyone when it comes to actual liveability there with the dual display. Very, very well done.

The problem with the Africa Twin is its market positioning while not being a midle weight Adventure having a 1100cc and not a big one having 100bhp. But I reckon it's just perfect and it would be my pick in the whole Adventure market no doubt!
