I'm retired from driving now but i drove for over 25 years with many of those in pete and kw cabovers and i loved them. My favorite of course were the long nosed conventional petes but i loved my cab overs too. I even loved my old International Transtar II. This is how a truck is supposed to sound too. The ones we have running the roads now just sound like vacuum cleaners going by. The old trucks of this era each had a different personality and were a joy to drive. Don't get me wrong the trucks now have some creature comforts that would have been nice on the older trucks but they're just too overly complicated and constantly in need of work from failed sensors and emissions junk that they don't need. The old trucks were also driven by actual professional drivers who most of the time were drivers because they loved it and not just because it got them a paycheck. It wasn't just a job it was a way of life. These days you have plastic over engineered trucks with mostly hastily so called trained drivers in them that are just there because it's a paycheck. I'm not saying that all the drivers now are clueless but if you just sit at a truck stop or watch a few videos of how poorly trained a lot of these drivers these days are trained by so called truck driving schools it makes an old retired driver like me both embarrassed for them and makes me laugh at the same time. I'd love to be driving down the road in my old 78 352 Pete cabover right now. Was my favorite of all the cabovers i drove.

Agreed with everything you say. I came to North America specifically to drive old trucks because it's still possible to do so, with the exception of california. I try not to park in truckstops for fear of having my cab damaged by the steering wheel holders.

It does go well edd. Hopefully this new gearbox should make a difference aswel. Still waiting on parts BTW. Propshaft is being completely overhauled and the big price tag has kicked me hard in the wallet.
