RICE SAUSAGE (MOV NYUV)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Nyob Zoo All and Happy AAPI month!
I wanted to share with you one of my childhood snacks: Rice sausage. Yes! It's basically a type of sausage that’s basically filled with sticky rice. I had the best memories of my grandparents making these for us every year so I asked her to show us how to make it so I can share it with you all. Rice sausage is definitely an acquired taste because some people may not like the taste and smell of pork casing. However, if you are familiar with the flavor, you may enjoy it. So this is my grandma's very old school recipe that I wanted to share. If you do get the chance to get these ingredients, I hope you can give this recipe a try.

Yep, love rice sausage, but I rarely make it since it's very labor intensive. Also, any inexperienced person will overfill even though they don't think they are overfilling (been there, done that 😂). Love, love, love rice sausage since it's very much a nostalgic food for me.

My grandma is also Moob Leeg and she also used to make these rice sausages for me when I was little. Your video really brought me back to those simpler times. Thank you for this lovely video; it made me feel so much nostalgia. Thank you for working so hard to preserve our culture. ❤

This reminds me so much of my late maternal Grandmother. I remember waking up in the morning at Grandma's house to the smell of delicious rice sausages cooking away. Thank you so much for sharing!! Grandma's are the best. ❤️❤❤

Hrm...I have store bought casing and I never dried them. I just stuffed it but man it doesn't cook well. The casing remains gummy after steamed. So I may have to blow and dry it like the fresh ones.

My grandma passed away over 20 years ago. She loved eating rice sausage and I can still remember the slight salt and ginger taste in her recipe. I’ll have to see if I could make her recipe this summer. Thank you for sharing. ❤

Just subscribed to your Annual Pay Patreon as appreciation for your generous contributions over the years. You really are a sweet family and I feel fortunate to learn of your personal experience with the Hmong culture and cuisine. Whatever the cost of Patreon, it costs much less than an overseas trip and certainly much safer these days from boarding the plane to in-air encounters.

Wow haven't seen or heard anyone make these in ages! I remember my mom making it back then. I didn't like it at the time, but since I'm a lot older now with a difference sense of taste I would want to try it again. Use to hate boiled bamboo shoots with pork, and stir fried bitter melon with ground pork but now I like them. lol
