Ricardo Lopez's Perfect Boxing Explained |Ricardo Martinez Inspiration| Technique Breakdown

Спорт

Ricardo Lopez has a 51-0 record with a 75 percent knockout rate, and while that would be very impressive for a heavyweight, Foreman has about an 85 percent knockout rate for example, Lopez pulled this off while weighing close to a hundred pounds.
But Lopez was no mere knockout artist. In fact, it was a major upset if he happened to lose a few rounds in an otherwise flawless fight. His style even inspired the character of Richardo Martinez in the phenomenal boxing anime Hajime No Ippo. And don’t worry, we willl be taking a look at a few elements that the show happened to get spot on.
Whether you’re talking about the real life Lopez or his anime counterpart, watching Lopez in the ring is to watch a true master of his craft. A master who happened to be amazing at every single aspect of boxing. Put simply, the man had no weaknesses.

When Martinez was sparing with Ippo before the Martinez vs Date fight, they explained a concept about how boxers and other martial artists develop an instinct to read an upcoming punch from the slight movement of the shoulders so that they can counter, parry or just dodge the attack. There was a scene where they explained that Martinez's shoulder and his hand(from shoulder to the elbow) doesn't makes even the slightest of movement before throwing a punch which makes his punches almost impossible to perceive and adds to his amazing punching speed. I've been practising martial arts for many years and i became interested in Boxing after i watched hajime no ippo, i must admit the anime showed a great deal of realistic explanations regarding the concepts of the fist. This concept is as real as it gets because I've noticed this in my fights and mastering this tactic is very very tough.

You should watch the documentary of finito lopez its in Spanish but it said that for a month all he did was throw the jab over and over until his coach said he wasn't telegraphin then he learned his 2 and 3s and so on. I got into boxing about 16 yrs ago because I spared a boxer and I was a tkd guy he seemed to know when I was gonna punch and he had better balance i learned boxing because of these two things and became a better kicker now I dont just move in an out now boxing game me a multi dimensional way of looking at boxing. I think all martial arts should take the boxing approach of teaching technique.

the secret of lopez was the move of his legs.. he moves the legs like "he will trow a heymaker" and the enemy boxer knows this..but he receive a liver blow..so they can't even know what move will do lopez. U can see in the anime with a single jab over ippo how he wanna evade the jab..and just receive it with the doble impact. That's the same what happen when they see his legs moves and prepare for it..just to get nukked in other part of the body.

@@TainoMantis My Dominican friend, I would truly love to know what is your earliest memory and/or history with my country of Mexico, or with Mexican culture or with Mexican people as far back as you can possibly remember as a child or teenager in your native Dominican Republic? In other words how did you first learn about Mexico or about Mexican culture growing up in the Dominican Republic? Perhaps your very first knowledge about Mexico or Mexican culture was in school, or on television, or from your parents or other relatives or friends or in some other way? The reason for asking you these strange questions is because we as Mexicans are by far the most patriotic and culturally proud people for our country and our culture and our history more so than any other nationality on Earth. Trust me on this, our love for Mexico is like a religion for us. It's that extreme. However, we do recognize all of Mexico's economic and social problems which is a result of our corrupt Mexican government which is mostly responsible for all of Mexico's problems. But the latter is for another time. As a result of our extreme patriotism we absolutely love when we see people from other countries and other races that have any personal interest in our country and our culture. In your case our Mexican boxers. It means more to us than you can possibly imagine. It is an extreme honor to see foreign people enjoying anything relating to our culture or with our people. This is why I'm asking you these strange questions? I would truly love and appreciate your honest responses. It would truly mean a lot to me. Thank you for your time. Respectfully, Benito González García Jr. Chicago, IL.

He would work his way to the inside, destroy the body with hooks. And then when the body gave way, he would go to the head with more hooks and uppercuts. Very strategically. Wilder is the KING of wild, blind punches.

Because, when you watch older fights (even as recent as Ali's "debut" in the 60's) you see boxers throwing dozens of clearly intentional rabbit punches just in front of the ref, who doesn't say anything. So if the thing was legal at some this might make sense. (Sorry about my english)

Wonderful breakdown! You know your analysis has me thinking. I know a lot of people don’t like the squared stance and some even drill to train it out of you but Lopez showed how the squared stance can prove to be a useful tool in the arsenal of a master. His lunging rights had him open for counters but he would cleverly initiate the initial lunge from an orthodox stance, fire off the right and quickly transition to a squared stance as he’s landing to suddenly become more mobile and avoid return fire. Brilliant athleticism and a crafty method to keep yourself safe. Great analysis from your part as well for pointing that out.

so glad Hajime no Ippo is getting the recognition it deserves in the west with your channel and vids giving it more exposure. for sports anime fans the anime is the gold standard imo. you can tell the creator is really a student of boxing. his history, background, and details he includes in his manga/anime are a testament. it's filled with lots of crazy funny moments too. the humor is crude but the characters are very likable. keep the vids up and spreading ippo!

when Joji Marikawa creator of the Manga was asked, the inspiration for "Ricardo Martínez" never said that it was Finito Lopez, he simply said that the character was Mexican because his bravery in Boxing was known and "Ricardo" was a very common Latin name . The Mexican fans invented that story that it is based on Finito Lopez 👎🏻

Beautiful!!! I'm a MuayThai fighter looking always to improve my footwork since I'm powerful but still very slow and can't properly use footwork to escape some situations! I appreciate a lot the effort that you have made to explain everything so clear and in a easy way!! Of course In MuayThai you have to consider knees in the face and kicks so you can't go wild with the head moviment but all those little details of his jab, or how he ended up having his opponenta back are just amazing ❤️🙏🏻

The devil is leading many to hell but Jesus Christ died for your sins in hopes you would go to heaven but you have to repent and ask for forgiveness. To not go to hell and to go to heaven you must be saved by the work of the cross and put your faith in Jesus. Jesus Christ defeated the devil and gives us a chance to repent because he loves us.

The split stance drop reminds me of a bit of what Gardbrant used VS Cruz. I wonder if Ricardo is where he got his inspiration. 🤔 (Also thanks so much m8, been waiting for this one. Definitely will share.)

Had Finito been given a push in the US like Dela Hoya he would have been more famous to the mainstream fans but we all know he is as close to perfection as can be. Thanks for this vid David. As an Ippo fan as well Ricardo is still undefeated in the manga.

Finitos weight is a hindrance. Before the Golden age of Featherweight divison (Pac,erik and barerra Jmm) , the guy who was carrying the PPV buys of the lower divison was Naseem Hamed.
