RHR: Understanding the Science of Metabolism and Ketones, with Dr. Latt Mansor

Ғылым және технология

Dr. Latt Mansor, global expert in ketosis and exogenous ketones and research lead at HVMN, joins Chris on this episode of Revolution Health Radio to discuss ketone diols, a relatively new form of exogenous ketones that are easier to take and more stable in the blood than other ketones. Dr. Mansor reveals why ketone diols are the more optimal form of ketone supplementation, what effects ketone diols have on the body for performance, recovery, and cognitive function, and emerging research on how these ketones may improve symptoms of traumatic brain injuries and illnesses like chronic fatigue.
In this episode, we discuss:
--The basics of ketone science and why the brain needs ketones to function, especially in the absence of excess glucose
--An overview of the body’s methods for generating endogenous ketones and inducing ketosis
--The problems with using supplemental ketone salts for performance
--How ketone diols operate in the body versus ketone salts and ketone esters
--What factors affect blood levels of ketones with exogenous ketones
--The biological effects of ketones on anaerobic metabolism
--How exercise affects the metabolism of exogenous ketones and the role of exogenous ketones in exercise recovery
--The optimal use, including dosages and frequency, of exogenous ketones for improving performance and recovery
--How to use exogenous ketone diols for maintaining focus and improving cognitive performance
--Who may benefit from supplementing with ketone diols, and whether there are any contraindications based on diet, lifestyle, or genetics
--The emerging research on ketones for treating traumatic brain injuries and conditions like chronic fatigue

Any thoughts on how a 2 mmol/L spike in Ketones (from esters) causes a release in insulin and therefore suppresses the endogenous ketone production from the body?
