Revving Labrie Automizer Helping Hand Garbage Truck ~ City of Indianapolis

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Made a trip to Indianapolis over the summer to film the city's trucks. This is some of what I got. Now, here is some information about how they do things. The city solid waste division only handles about a third of households in the city. They contract with Republic for much of the rest, and WM for a small portion as well. More specifically, the city is broken up into 11 or so districts. The city does 4 of them, Republic does 6 and WM does only 1. For the 4 the city does, those routes were automated in the mid to late 2000s. They actually used to have 300s in some areas before this, but that was phased out around the same time. Despite having carts, it appeared on my visit that only about half of the routes are collected with ASLs, the rest are still with RLs. Currently, the oldest ASLs are Condor Heil DP 7000s (which I did film) and the oldest RLs are Condor Heil 5000s. A really long time ago they had Formula 7000s for the 300s I mentioned. The new stuff is Autocar Labrie Automizer Right Hands and these. Also, Autocar Leach RLs (notice a pattern here?). Their fleet is all diesel as well. The last thing I will mention is that they do not have universal curbside recycling. They are one of the last if not the last major US city to not have this. Residents can pay republic separately for recycling but very few households do. They also don't have separate yard waste collection. So basically everything trash, recycling, and yard waste goes to not a landfill, but an incinerator! It is pretty crazy but this is why I wanted to film here. I want to go back after Christmas this year to see what that's like and hopefully film some of the Republic routes. Hope you enjoy the video!

Very interesting how the city of Indianapolis does their collections! I know you filmed the Condor DP7000's (looking forward to those), but did you get a chance to film any of their Condor 5000's? If not, when you go back, definitely film the Condor 5000's, would love to see more of those trucks!

I will try to next time I am there, which will hopefully be after Christmas. Do you know if Republic runs any side loaders?

They run Pythons mostly, Curotto cans, multitasks, Multipacks, and other rare gems. Not completely sure if they’ve started scraping some though. The fleet is 90% Cng/cnRg

Roughly 40-50ish Corottos, 45ish Pythons, a mix of 10 different rear loaders, a few Labries, & other Heil products. Majority on Autocars/Mack’s/Peterbuilts

What area of the city was this filmed in? I live just west of Indy and the areas around me are collected by Republic, but a lot of areas around Indy are collected by a private company called Ray’s Trash. I’m looking forward to seeing what else you were able to get on video!

This was on the southeast side near Thompson Rd and Five Points Rd. I’ll be honest this trip was kind of disappointing. I spent literally the entire day trying to find stuff to film and only got about a half hour of footage. But it is better than nothing I guess. I am going to try to make another trip after Christmas, weather permitting, and hopefully film more than just the city trucks.

Ray’s Trash was bought out by WM recently so there’s some WM trucks out near Indy as well
