City of Indianapolis garbage trucks

Here we have 6 trucks from Indy DPW, 4 ASLs and 2 RLs. 2 American LaFrance Condor Heil DuraPack 7000s, 2 Autocar ACX Labrie Automizer Right Hands, and 2 Heil 5000 rear loaders, one Autocar and one Condor. The RL footage was filmed from my car, sorry I didn't get anything better of the RLs. Indianapolis is interesting because the city only services about 1/4 of the city, and most of the rest is contracted out to Republic, and only a small portion is contracted out to WM. Also, despite everything being carted, the city only uses ASLs on like half of the routes and there doesn't seem to be any difference to routes with RLs and routes with ASLs. In addition, Indy is the last major city in the US to have never implemented a curbside recycling program. You have to subscribe and pay a fee for it, and almost no one does. So, many houses have 2 carts and some even have 3. There is no separate yard waste collection either. It all goes to an incinerator operated by Covanta. Overall, they have a pretty cool fleet. Once these 7Ks are gone though it won't be as interesting as it is now. The 7Ks are the main reason I chose to make the almost 3 hour drive. I do wish I could've gotten more footage of them though because I don't know how much longer they'll be around. I am 99% certain that the first 2 digits of the number on the truck is the year, so that gives you an idea of how old they are. Weirdly, the 2009 seemed to be in much better shape than the 2011. Glad you appreciate it. I've actually been there twice now. This was from the first time and I have another video of a Labrie Automizer Helping Hand from the same trip. The second time was July of this year and I filmed a Republic truck, another Helping Hand, some more RLs and got a few other clips of the same stuff. Don't know when that will be posted though

Very weird that there is no city recycling program especially with it being a large city. But in the last few years there is no point has the market is crap and most on Indy is ghetto and would not recycle right anyway.

Awesome video! Those Heil 7000's are super entertaining to watch on the LaFrance Condor Chassis. Loved watching the 1st truck as well. Great work!
