Took me a while once again to review you recommendations. To repeat, I find your presentations invaluable to expose me to more music I was unaware of, but probably should have been. Music is my business (more about that possibly later). Meanwhile, I will pick up Bernie Senensky's "Homeland" and Henri Texier's "Chance". The Senensky recording is the freest and most collaborative of the works I was able to find and it really sings. Texier blends a hint of West Indies or African spice into the setup for a new bop session and has a dark and appealing color to it, to my ear. Wonderful stuff, thank you.

Sure enough I am watching and enjoying all of it! The PM label is the next Strata East I tell ya... get em when you can (I think Perla still sells dead stock online). Henri Texier my gosh so much ❤ for that guy. I wish his stuff on Label Bleu would get reissued on vinyl. So much good stuff on that label actually -- every time I'm in France I pick up some used on CD. Romano, Texier, Sclavis etc. Glad you revisited Musique du Bois -- definitive cheap heat. These two post-rock albums from Tamo sound right up my alley. I am a sucker for Tortoise etc. Oh and I still need to listen to the letterbox player 🤭

Fred as always what a wonderful video. Thank you for sharing your knowledge my Record collection continues to need what I see on your videos.😊. Alain peters. Wow!!! Thank you for that that Music really hit the spot and I am on the hunt for that Record. Don’t know if you heard about. Jako maron? He is from the Indian ocean region as well. I believe Madagascar. He’s an electronic artist, but mixed with Maloyan roots. I learned of him from stunty. I’m 99% sure you would love him. He fits all the boxes for you if you get a chance check him out. Thank you once again, Fred for sharing and for taking the time out to educate us on good music.😊🙌

Keith Jarrett is an amazing musician to me, a high-level artist. The amount of records he's made is staggering really and you've shown another one I will keep an eye out for. I just picked up a three record set of the German shows that I avoided buying because I thought I didn't need more Keith and I love it! Interesting comment about one should take a break in buying records, I've thought this many times as I'm compiling another list from watching your video, ha! Thanks for sharing your great collection and commentary. Cheers!

I dig that gondwanaland..cool lp tribal ambiance indeed.. Definitely a bit of a fourth world element as well. Yes keith Jarrett spirits i myself was turned out to that lp many years ago by a good friend in telling him i am not really into Jarrett's stuff and he recommended that as something in my zone and he was absolutely correct..😂. Very happy i was able to send you a copy to enjoy ❤. 😂 maybe you should just make videos for me so i don't have to do the work anymore..lol. Indeed i have the senesky lp and dig it played it a few months ago..alot of good stuff on the pm label most of which i still have. Funny the foos lp is actually on my wl and a perfect jc68 lp..lol Those german jazz fusion lp's are fucking endless..lol..i should know!. Love toti soler have a few of his lp's but not that one though. My fave is probably el gat blanc..which has a few fuzzed out tracks on it among the flamenco..great and cheap lp. He also did a lovely duet lp with Spanish pianst jordi sabates who i love as well. Sadly i have no texier in my collection..though i am quite aware how great those lp's are. I don't see them much here though they have been in my wl for a long time..but we all have records like that anyway. Can't have everything with the possible exception of stunty..😂. I know what you mean by time. I work and caregive so now a days i have very limited time to spin records so on the times i do i find it even more special in terms of connection that it has ever been...much love brother chris

I hope the caregiving isn't killing you man. I know (sort of) how it can be. I was a caregiver for Sarah and that takes a lot out of you. The great thing with music is that it can accompany you in those moments. Thanks again for the depth of your comments and how thoughtful you always are. You are a true gem of what I like to call the OGVC. The new VC doesn't do much for me sadly.

Fred! Always great to see you back with a new video. I think we amass so many records because we all love to feel our collection is some kind of magic music encyclopedia. one we can dip into and listen to whatever fancies us at a given moment. Like it or not every record in our collection is an inanimate friend. We spend time with records. We pour over the art. We deep listen to the music. We have our best friend records. They are our loyal bffs. Some we lose touch with and trade in for new friends. Record collecting is the constant process of searching out something new. Something new to inspire. I know it’s perhaps not this for everyone - but is for me. I love digging in my own encyclopedia. Cheers Fred, luv ya bud.

Yeah, yeah, but can Andre 3000 play the Fruit? Gene Perla is a bass player. He started out as a piano player but after hearing Charlie Haden, he switched to bass. Love that ''Spirits'' album by Keith, in some ways it relates to Stockhausen's ''Intuitive Music'' manifestations. Thanks a million for showing Phil Woods, he's a brilliant hybrid of Charlie Parker and Charlie Mariano. Alan Dawson was Tony Williams early drum teacher in Boston. Augustus Pablo transports me into a different Universe, I rate ''East Of The River Nile'' as high as Coltrane's '' A Love Supreme''. Salvador Dali's favorite music was the sound of sardines being sauteed in olive oil. Buy less records and more sardines!

I think I meant to say bass but ended up with drums for some reason. Facts can get mixed when one reels off so many in half an hour. I will get crucified for the errors haha. Another enjoyable watch, Fred. Always intrigued to see where your listening habits and interests have currently taken you. Your opening sentiments about collecting resonate with me, especially of late, as I’ve had to evaluate how much I “know” my collection (listening, digesting the music) instead of just filling shelves with stuff I like but might not know enough about. As for the music, much I don’t know by sound but have at least a vague familiarity with. That didgeridoo/synth Aussie record intrigues me. Love the Chris Cole “segment”. Probably something we all could devote time to. Hope all is well. Can’t remember if I commented on your European vacation recap but those vids were frickin’ great.

Catching up on some videos added to watchlist, which if I recall correctly, was a topic discussed on Dom’s livestream we were on together hah. I can relate to your opening sentiments all too well. I really want to implement a purchase break as well, not even to refamiliarize myself with my own collection, but just to catch up with stuff that’s come in in recent months. Watching videos like yours makes it hard to put a full stop to buying when you show interesting/cool stuff heh. The name Gondwanaland sounds so familiar, but I can’t quite place it. Synths and digeridoo sound like an interesting matchup for sure. Keith Jarrett isn’t usually my bag, but I sampled Spirits and it does seem quite good. Only have Amir and Varech of Texier, will need to check this one out.

Jean Baudrillard wrote that the "miracle of collecting" in Le système des objets (1968), is that "what you really collect is always yourself." It's certainly a form of expression that on occasions gets out of hand. I think the idea of taking a break is a very good one. From personal experience there have been periods when hunting and buying albums has become obsessive (a mania if you will) that shuts out other things in your life which is never a good place to be. Perhaps I need a break from watching channels like yours that always intrigue, fascinate, talk and show music I've never come across😂

Well that is the thing with the VC, you always end up seeing records you knew nothing about and then hunt again. Having said this, I don't often buy records from watching the VC as I don't watch that many people (not many interest me, and the good videos are so few and far between).

I looked at their flag and it is similar to Iceland one? Anyway that over good to hear you waffle for half an hour and take us where certainly I've never ventured before. If I learn a bit and stumble across something in the wild I'll attribute it to you. I'm always looking for samples and things anyhow. That's probably why my record dealings when I'm done with them aren't that successful particularly in monetary terms. Cleaners from Venus yup I've read it and don't think I've heard it. Hey Fred. Nice to see you back. This “work” getting in the way of listening to records is really beginning to be a problem. In all honesty, I think we all work way too much. Industrialization hasn’t freed man - it has enslaved us for the benefit of the few. Lol. Sorry, my Marxist tendencies are libel to turn into rants at any given moment. But back to the music; the Jeremiah Chiu sounds really cool. I’m (unfairly) a little shy about the International Anthem label. Although, I do own a few of their records. But I’m going to give this Aland Islands a try. Are you retitling this video; Records Chris Cole Would Enjoy? Lol. Well…Chris has amazing taste in music, so be better listen close. The Phil Woods has me intrigued. As does the Rakotozafy record. Hopefully I can find a sample or two on-line somewhere. Don’t work too hard! Cheers! Shawn.
