Review | 1815: Scum of the Earth | Hall or Nothing | The Players' Aid
1815 was a game that I bought from Noble Knight on a whim, because I saw the art work and loved it. Turns out the game is an absolute scorcher.

Thanks for another great review. Wellington's comment 'Scum of the Earth' was actually a statement about the quality and character of the British soldiers he had serving with him in 1813, not his French enemy as you might expect.
Production value is top shelf. Game is great fun solo. A big thumbs up! Wellington made the "scum" comment about his own troops, not the French.
What I like about this game series is that it's essentially a mini skirmish game. But instead of miniatures you have cards with stunning artwork. This has made me recall when I was a child and one day I did not have minis to play with. So I used ordinary cards from a poker deck and used them as a substitute for soldiers 😅 I only own 1066, since I'm into medieval British history but I appreciate the fact that the games can be combined and played - as Alexander mentioned about the other game - anachronistically, mixing up the epochs. It's possible to have the Saxons fight the army of Napoleon. That's a cool touch, adding to variability. The other thing I like in those games is their solid solo varaint of play 👍
Quote is by Wellington about his own army.
Fantastic game. I have all three. Each excellent in particular ways.
Finished 3 Days in June, very good and unique book, I would describe it best as sobering. As I was finishing it up this week (I'm off work on vacation this week, "stay"-cation, just taking time off), I got a notice that Lock n Load was having a flash 50% off sale. It seemed obvious to get Heroes of the Falklands, the expansion A Feat of Arms, and the 4K-X maps. However, it will be a good long while before I play any of it, if I ever do. I watched the Falkland Islands war on TV in 1982, as it was happening. 8 1/2 short years later I would find myself in Desert Shield Desert Storm. As I said, the book 3 days in June is very sobering, told through the passages of the people who lived and survived it. Even though I bought the games, the subject is very close to home for me. In fact, I'm not sure I'll be able to play a game on this one at all. Might just be a game, for me, just to have and look at, maybe learn something. This feels like a "too soon" event for me, as far as the game goes. To be clear, that is just my personal feelings, as far as playing a game goes. I have no problem that there are games, and other people playing them. It's a good way to learn and remember. Just for me, personally, I just don't think I could game this, especially after audiobooking it. Very good book. Never Forget 💝

I’m glad that you were able to read 3 Days in June. It was very intense, and deeply sobering, as you say. I did enjoy Heroes of the Falklands, specifically because it’s at a tactical level, and so you’re performing the same kinds of actions described in the book. Really helps to put you in those shoes.
After watching the movie Waterloo, I might want to have this game someday.

@@jimvalentine8952 indeed. I like one of the lines there: "Its rude to interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake."
i want to buy this, but it's sold out everywhere, including Noble Knight.

@@mattvanweelden1827 I actually found a copy at my FLGS! Unfortunately, the expansion is still nowhere to be found, but at least I got the base game.
How does it compare to Napoleon Saga?
Bought the kebab t-shirt mid-video, and the game at the end of the video
