Reversing Diabetes - The Roles Medication and Diet Play

In this video I discuss how to reverse diabetes and the effects of diet versus medications. The role diet is not emphasized enough. Real, whole foods will not cause a tremendous surge in your insulin. Now, I'm not saying that you shouldn't do drugs. I'm saying the drugs have a place. But so does diet. If you are overweight, if you have diabetes, or complications of diabetes, particularly, you have to look at medicines. Yes. Talk to your doctor. Talk to him about the medicines. Find out which ones maybe suitable for you. But you must change your diet also.
Remember that my videos are not a substitute for individualized medical care by a qualified physician. Always consult your physicians before making any diet, nutrition, medication, or lifestyle changes.
We talked about this in my previous videos about how the root cause of this problem is mostly the diet, lifestyle, what we eat, how we eat, and how frequently we're eating that's. Here are links to some of those:

I now weigh 180 lbs and A1C went from 8.7 to 6.4. I quit metformin and glipizide about 5 months ago. I will get another A1C test in a few weeks and I am hoping to be in the 5.9 range. I water fasted from 12/30/22-1/25/23 I lost 31lbs. My a1c was 8.4 now I am 5.6 I am not on medication anymore. I wish all doctor's were like you who fixes and heals illnesses not look at each person as $$$. My body doesn't accept sweets anymore. Tastes nasty. My glucose prior to eating varies from 80 to 100 depending what time. My glucose after eating is about highest at 138. Then drops to about 110 within 2 hrs then drops below 100. I am so happy. I was never a snacker but liked bubble tea. Now I eat healthier with no rice. I am Asian which was hard to quit on rice. I also eat 1 meal a day and do not over eat. I want to lower my a1c a bit more. Please don't give up everyone. I don't recommend but I did without a doctor bc I dont trust my endocrinologist. I stopped metformin also bc I trust my body. It really does know what it is doing. My lowest was 55 but very shortly went right back up to 90. I did not have any symptoms of hypoglycemia. I have the sensor that continuously reads my glucose which was very helpful.

@Darrell Williams nope I quit all my meds the day I started fasting. I did it extreme bc I know our body will take care of it. I started eating and I only eat once a day. I am eating good fats and barely any carbs. I eat avocado and eggs daily. Not too much meat. seafood yes but I haven't started red or white meat yet. I also was on allergy med every 24hr. I had something called dermatographism... something I don't wish on anyone. I am not taking any allergy pill daily. Haven't do far. I used to itch and burn like a rabid dog... no longer. Fasting is a cure for almost everything. I hope you and everyone give it a chance. Many doctors oppose to it and that is why I did it alone. Not recommended if you are on insulin etc without supervision.🤞

@@katlynkang15 Well done I feel the same your body is designed to fix itself if it gets a chance. I just watched a programme called operation transformation. Its 6 orv7 people put on diet and excercise. The poor folks are expected to follow the same old eating plans. Low fat low taste pasta and flour and all things white. The amount of bread scones one person had on the work top was scary. Even the partners screw up their faces at the tasteless grub. Then they are expected to exhaust themselves running and exercising while they are hauling massive amounts of body weight. The contestants cry and awful to watch these shows. It's like the biggest loser. No one is ever brought back to show the weight stayed off. I am a fan of Dr J and if he says fasting helps health and Jason Fung and countless others well that's much easier for me than counting calories. Good luck with omad

I like Dr. J. The only thing is, if I eat plant material I gain weight. I tried what I called "The 1800" diet where I only ate things I could have gotten in the year 1800, which is produce and from the butcher. I could not get below 325 lbs and that was with walking miles a day everyday. Until I went straight carnivore and got to 1 meal a day and doing 3, 5, and 9 day water fasting I was at a plateau that I couldn't get over. Now I'm at 235, down from 387 and my body seems to be comfortable there even though I'm not. But I'm in a size 36 jeans, 34 depending on the manufacturer, down from a size 50. I'm in a size xl shirt down from a 5X shirt. In a size 13 shoe down from a size 15EEEE. I just can't eat plants, that's my physiology. If you can, I'm so jealous of you! From you, I learned to incorporate fats in my diet and as I lost weight, I did not lose the suppleness of my skin. I cannot thank you enough Dr. J. I am an Asian and being one, rice is a staple food that I'd been eating since I was born. I'd been able to stop eating rice since the last weekof December. It was not difficult since my motivation is to reverse my being pre-diabetic. Keto diet is expensive so I cannot do it. I eat plainly boiled vegetables with egg or fish or meat or chicken. I've alsolearned to make chia seed pudding and included this in my diet.

I have been exercising (weightlifting and cardio) for about 28 years, and also eat a pretty healthy diet with the occasional pizza, etc. I try to avoid processed oil, sugars, etc. My A1C yearly check is usually around 4.5.

Any new or struggling type 2 diabetics need to watch this again, again, again and again!!!!! In May of ' 21 I was 250 lbs with an A1C of over 12...put on Metformin and Atorvastatin. Right now I'm in the low 170's with A1C sitting at 5.1 and off all meds. 2 whole food meals a day (very low carb, ZERO added sugar), no snacking, 16:8 fasting. It will change your life, folks. Let me add...triglycerides when diagnosed was over 180 and blood pressure 145 ish over 100 ish most of time. Last week blood work showed triglycerides at 52 and my BP was 113/72. All this due to the aforementioned and just walking 20 mins a day and not laying around.

Didn't really count...never have. I eat twice a day until I'm full with no snacking in between. I eat nothing between 7 pm and 11 am. I'll drink water, black coffee and unsweetened tea. Anything in the green vegetable family I will eat. Green beans, asparagus, bell peppers, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. I add cheese sometimes for flavor and satiety. If I had to guess...I'd say 20 to 30 grams of carbs a day and sometimes less. I just stay away from junk and live fine now.

I think that depends on the severity of your T2D and will also come down to your will power/dedication. My T2D was a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10 so it took me roughly 13 months and I think I could have been taken off 2 or 3 months earlier. The timing was based on when my blood work was done. Keep doing what you are doing with NO CHEATING. When you are trying to heal your body you don't deserve a treat contrary to what some people may tell you. T2D 98% of the time is the person's own fault because all we do is have too many "treats" that causes the disease in the 1st place. Remember...when you achieve your goal and get off meds and control your T2D with only food and being active, maintain what got you there. Your diabetes at that point is in remission and will come back in a New York minute if you let it.

MSM will never talk about what really causes heart disease; your metabolic health is what will dictate whether or not you will get heart disease. It's important to pay attention to Triglycerides, A1C and HDL. These are the markers for inflammation in your arteries. I will be transparent, I do eat bread and rice but definitely not in huge portions. I have been able to maintain a healthy weight for my height and my Triglycerides, HDL and A1C are healthy.

I had the Whipple procedure 2 yrs ago (part of this procedure involved removing 30% of my pancreas) and now my A1c just started to go into the pre-diabetic range at 5.8 and was told by a new primary care physician to fast for 16 hours a day for 5 out of 7 days per week. Of course I wasn't familiar with why this would work but did it anyway. Well, after 1 and 1/2 months, had blood work done for my rheumatologist because I have RA and my sed rate (indicates how much inflammation you have in your body) was at 17 (normal range from 0-30). I get checked for sed rate at least 4 times a year and in the last 8 plus yrs, I was in the normal range only twice at a reading in the high 20's (I usually run from 34 up to 65). Boy was I amazed! Then while browsing the KZread app came across one of Dr Jamnadas lectures on diet and fasting, and now it all makes sense! I am so incentivized now, to gradually change my eating habits to better my health.

No to Sugar, No to Processed Foods & Yes to Whole Foods along with 15-16 hrs of intermittent fasting daily helped me achieve this. I believe you can eradicate DIABETES or so called HYPERINSULINAEMIA or INSULIN RESISTANCE out of this globe with the knowledge that you're sharing at no cost to your followers.

My doc says take meds, of course I say no! Another provider recommended I watch this doc. In 5 weeks I cut carbs to 30g per day, fasted every day 18 hours if taking 2 meals, and 24 hour fasts weekly, one 48 hr fast. My average daily BS are now under 120. I eat as much as I need, great protein, healthy fats, no processed, tons of vegetables, but not starchy veggies. Lost 12 pounds already. Post prandials are always below 140. FBS still one teens. But I will take that! Saved my life.
