How Fasting and Diet can Prevent Heart Disease Especially for High Risk Patients like South Asians

This lecture is centered around Coronary Artery Disease in South Asians, but most of this information applies to everyone. Understanding the links between heart disease and our diet, genetics, hormones, and gut bacteria is so important. It was great to partner with the Indian American Business Association with our first Heart Health Event together. We hosted it here at Cardiovascular Interventions and provided members with tours of our facility then ended the night with this lecture.

This has saved my life! This is the way! I'm living proof. I started my journey in April of 2020 at 400 lbs and extreme metabolic syndrome. My metabolic age was over 70 in my 30's. I was dying. Very low quality of life. So much agony. My Dr was at a loss as to what to do for me. This morning, my weight is 179.4. My metabolic age has reversed to 51 at 46. All of my ailments have just gone away. I'm in day 3 of a full fast for the first time. I feel amazing. This is the human diet. Grass-fed grass-finished meats. True, free-range chickens and eggs. Full fat dairy and vegetables. One meal a day. But I eat very little because I'm in a pretty constant state of satiety. Start today! Good luck!

I no longer take any pharmaceuticals including stattins and have lost approximately 24% of my total body weight. I'm starting to really like looking in the mirror 🪞. I do have some new doctors that do agree drugs should be a last resort and not the 1st action. Congratulations on your success 🙌

Rebecca: I think it was mid August of this year I was at the gym 🏋️‍♂️ working out feeling pretty good but was thinking something is wrong and 3 days later felt like death warmed over and death sounded like a good option 🙄. I thought maybe I have covid again, but soon went and got a blood test revealing things like a vitamin D deficiency among other things. So I then went to the Sears clinic in South Florida and got started on some higher quality supplements. I also found Dr. Burg on line and started following his healthy Keto and intermittent fasting, and I'm strict with myself! Now I follow several Dr's, including this one and am glad to see how most of them concurr with each other on low carbs and low or no sugar being the way to go. Today a trainer at the gym said I look 10 years younger in just 4 months friends also say what a differents. A1c went from 5.6 to 5.0 in 3 months also. I say and most will agree if we are going to make it in to our senior years, we should do it in health not sickness! Again, I'm glad to see others out there improving their quality 👏 of life like yourself!🙂

I found this guy right before Christmas last year. Started following his advice for new years this year. 6 months tomorrow. Down 70 lbs and all my numbers improved beyond my doc's comprehension! Updated now to September. Now 80# down😋 December update, down 90! February update, Still holding at about 90lbs down, and I think this is where my body wants to be. Not surprising, because I'm now only about 20lbs heavier now than when I was in peak form as an athlete. I'm guessing if I wanted to get back to that peak, I'd need to finally hit the gym 🤣. Might also try a longer extended fast, like a 10 day. If after that my body returns to where I'm at now, I'll know for sure I'm in the sweet spot 👍.

I am a family medicine physician and your teachings have changed my approach to nutrition and advising my patients. My desire is to help treat patients and to go at the underlying and root cause. The carbohydrate intake and continuous feeding in modern mankind is unprecedented and contributing significantly to chronic diseases - the root cause being hyperinsulinemia. We were not taught this in medical school or residency training. At the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, we had one day of nutrition and even that was outdated information. We are taught mostly to prescribe, not to go at the root cause. Thank you so much for teaching all of us. I feel a newfound love for going to work everyday because my mission now is much clearer because of greater understanding. I am sharing your teachings with my colleagues and all of my patients. Thank you Dr. Jamnadas

Then I decided to diet..I was binge dieting I loose 5 lbs then go gain back the weight again and again. My back is hurting from my scoliosis, my feet hurts from standing for too long and I get tired easily when running to the restroom. Then my Reflux was really bad that I almost choked from my sleep 2x, this is where I decided to get serious. I was having a hard time in my 2 days but then I saw your videos and started listening even at work, going to bed and in the car. You helped me so much when I have cravings. I have been struggling with high cholesterol since I was diagnosed in 2019. Tried several different diets and workout plans that only reduced my numbers slightly. A few months ago I was referred to get genetic testing and found I have a genetic mutation LDLR related hypercholesterolemia, autosomal dominant. I was surprised, frightened and overwhelmed with depression until I watched several of your KZread seminars. The information you shared has given me hope that I can still live a full life by making certain lifestyle changes. Things to discuss during my initial visit with my cardiologist. My statin has been increased and I will have a calcium score done in the near future, but until then I have started intermittent fasting and being mindful of my food choices. As an African American woman I know have a better understanding of how genetic mutation happens when my ancestors were brought here and stricken from their own culture and foods. Would love to hear more on this topic. You are an angel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. ❤️

It might work for some but not for all. This Guy who made the comment probably has a completely different body in some ways. Maybe he was also obese when doing or before doing the water first which might help. My stomach also cramps after doing a 2-day water fast, maybe we are doing something wrong, I don't know. I think from now on I'm only doing 18 hours of fasting, this feels much healthier.

As I put on weight after reaching the age of 40, I was not fat before, I was about 59 kg but then reached 66 last summer 😮. I didn’t like myself, I looked at my pictures and to me, I looked disfigured. I have been struggling since to get the extra weight off. I have listened to many podcasts and read about fasting. My diet was not too bad but I will have craving days and go to sweets, mainly pastries. I started to fast since last Wednesday, 5 July 2023 so had my usual 3 meals on Wednesday, with dinner at 7 pm. I had no food Thursday all day, it has been hard to control myself as I am a mother and do pack lunches, cook the meals and the fruit ball is always there in the kitchen, the sweets are in the cupboard. I also skipped breakfast on Friday the 7 July and had lunch at 1 pm and dinner. So I managed a 42 hours fast . It was salad, avocado, nuts and salmon fillet. No alcohol, just water. I am not sure if I do it right, when I fast I have either water, sparkling water or green tea ( I searched if Green tea breaks the fast and it said it doesn’t, and not only that but it helps). From Friday evening, I then had 48 hours fast to Sunday 9 th July dinner, I was so full of energy and done high intensity gardening, digging, I was so red on my face, all Saturday, Sunday I cleaned my house, is not that I could not do more than 48 hours but I really wanted the food. Again salmon, steamed vegetables, nuts. I also eat Monday ( today) at 11 o’clock so this time just 16 hours fast , I had no lunch and dinner and here we are. I lost from 64 to 60.5 kg so half a stone. But loosing weight is one of my reasons, the other one is that I just got some spots on my legs, the pharmacist said that is Folliculitis ( because of shaving against the hair grow) and to phone 111 and get antibiotics. I do Not want to get antibiotics, I know how harmful they are, I just want to heal myself, I KNOW I CAN HEAL MYSELF. Now the spots are subsiding and they are no longer itchy, no new ones appearing either. I want to be able to reach more than 48 hours, I am curious to see how the skin will look like, maybe even less weight.. etc I sometimes smile and think of this abundance of information like finding the philosophical stone, some sort of secret. I tried to share it with my husband or friends but my husband doesn’t accept the information, friends are reluctant to give it credit. I realised that this information is not for everyone. And yet it will be the solution for billions of unhealthy people, but like the doctor said “ fasting is not sexy “ doctors do not make this information available. And people are not willing to compromise on their addictions of sugar, ready meals, alcohol. Thank you doctor for all you do

I learned about a lot of this a few years ago (from various other youtube videos) after experiencing a LOAD of symptoms including inflammation, joint pain, constipation, folliculitis, alopecia areata, brain fog, poor memory, depression, anxiety, etc. I eliminated all sugar and junk food and fasted frequently, usually only 1-2 days. Within a few weeks ALL of my symptoms disappeared and I felt the best I'd felt in decades, mentally and physically clear. Unfortunately I got stuck in another country during Covid and did not maintain as much control over my diet + severe stress pushed me back into poor habits and since then slowly all of my symptoms have come back. Time to clean up again.
