    Pretty nice! And you're right about the "paint it your way" thing! I did the same with a 07 Concept Camaro I'm working on right now. I stripped away all the chrome, except on 1-2 bits and then painted most of them flat black, and the wheels in Tamiya Gunmetal.

    So you're saying I need a dehydrator to make my decals look good? I haven't used a dehydrator since I made beef jerky in the 80's. Yellow is a nice color. I had a 1:1 that color. Thanks for sharing...

    angelo i am stupid when it comes to the decals what is with the dehydrator before and how are you using it i think i understand the reason why but for how long and is it the same as the jerky dydrator in the kitchen

  • @AngelosWorkbench

    @AngelosWorkbench

    4 жыл бұрын

    L W the dehydrator is wonderful for curing paint but it also work nicely for setting decals quicker. If the the decal is already nice and flat on the surface the dehydrator cures it fast by evaporating the water between the decal and the model. If the decal still needs to conform to the surface you need more heat from a hair dryer.

    Angelo, when you use Tamiya paint like on your wheels, do you have to thin the paint or add retardant or do you use it straight out of the bottle?

  • @AngelosWorkbench

    Angelo, I just tried painting my engine with Tamiya flat aluminum and it looks a little grainy. Maybe I'm not thinning it right. When you're using Tamiya paint, how do you thin yours? It's not terribly bad, just a little rough. Thx, Mac

  • @AngelosWorkbench

    @AngelosWorkbench

    5 жыл бұрын

    Michael McNeive the Tamiya paints are a bit finicky to thin for me. It seems to vary based on the color of the paint how much thinner to add. I start with 80/20 paint to thinner and add more thinner from there. If it spits out of the airbrush it’s too thick and if it runs on the surface it’s too thin. It’s a bit of trial and error.

    Good Morning Angelo, I've been trying to remove the yellowing left behind after de-croming. I used the same oven cleaner that you use. I've tried using a toothbrush with Dawn for the most part. I have tried other things as well. Nothing seems to work. So, do you know how to get it off? Also, I was wondering if after priming and painting would it even show? I really like the way your truck turned out. It inspires me to get started on mine. Great Job!! Mac

    That's wonderful work! I have a couple of Foose models, and am considering getting different wheels and tires for them. Aoshima and other companies make some cool parts! How can I tell what size to order (from Japan) if I want to go a size or two larger- say from 14" to 16" wheels. How do I figure that out without trial and error? Thanks!

I checked Dr. Cranky's page and the Scalemodeler's page and both of them showed them not using the hinges. Did you use them? The hood seems to work better without the hinges. Thanks, Mac

  • @AngelosWorkbench

    @AngelosWorkbench

    5 жыл бұрын

    Alexander the Great that’s a very good question. I will wet sand the primer if anything gets in it or if it gets any texture - which is about 90% of the time. I think it’s a good idea as it helps to keep everything as smooth as possible before you get to color and clear.
