Retiring My Jackson Ultima Skates

Absolutely NO SHADE to Jackson Ultima- I really liked their skates but in the end, they weren't for me due to my foot shape (wide ball, wide toes, and very narrow heel) and that's ok. Everyone's feet are different so everyone has different needs when it comes to skates, and I learned that the hard way by trying Jackson as my first non-recreational skate. I will always treasure my Elles as my first "real" skates but it's time to move on! Someday I hope to use their nifty 3D foot scanner to see what's up!

I'm sorry you have had so many problems for the last little bit, but I definitely think it would be good to try a new brand out. I love how you babied and held and stroked your skates during the whole video, you're so stinking cute 😍

Thanks for this, now I understand the type of problems that can happen with skates.

You can try Edea. Edea boots are very comfortable. I was using Jacksons too but my feet were hurting so badly in them.

Size checks people, heat molding should only be done if you have stopped growing because you won’t grow and get cramped in your skates

I had Elles for 5 years. I hate them with passion now. They stopped me from enjoying skating. I hated the mirage blades more. I then moved onto the new Freestyles. They are... a little better. I am now trying to save up for either Jackson Elite or Edea Chorus.

Itll definitely chsnge once you get a higher level boot accompanied with blade! I have tried other people's freestyles and theyre not much better than the elles. However once you buy the boot and blade separately, its a game changer!

Totally get why it’s upsetting to give up your first real skates. But, speaking from experience, the last thing you want is the many months of misery that comes with Achilles tendinitis. So go shop around for different brands and find a retailer that will listen to your story and discuss it with you. You could always bronze these like baby shoes! Cute slippers as well!

I have to say, these skates out of all the skates I’ve had are definitely not my favorite! I have the same ones as these and they literally broke down completely after having them for a few months so I’m having to buy new ones again. Every pair of Jackson skates that I’ve had breaks down sooo fast. I just don’t understand why lol! I’m thinking of buying the Jackson elite skates so if anyone has had those or knows if they are any good, please let me know! Thanks! Also, I’m going into freestyle 4 so do you think overbooting will cause any issues as the Jackson elite skates are meant for freestyle 6-10?

I will say boots also depend on your weight as well as your skill. I would way by the end of freestyle, you have enough foundations down to know how to skate and overbooting at this point is really about how hard you want to work to break them in.

you were not fitted properly at all!! the skates were a bit too big for you. that is unfortunate. graf are such a bad skate , Harlicks and risports are way too hard and you will be in pain.i just realized that this was posted last year so hope you got something better.

Now I own graf AND risport. The stiffness really depends on what you are doing. If you are jumping, you need a stiffer boot. I love my risport skates!

If you have narrow feet you might want to try a brand other than jackson, as jackson runs wide.

@@ym8363 nice! Maybe you can buy your friend's old ones. If not, I would suggest going to a shop to get measured, or measure them carefully yourself and use a sizing chart to get the best fit you can.

thefuumanchuu don’t they get narrow after you heat mold them? I just bought Jackson freestyle.

  • @garysimkins2179

unfortunately your first mistake was attempting to heat mould your skates yourself. This would explain why the boots broke down. The ovens used by shops have a starting heat that is much lower than the household oven. Basically you melted your skates. I skate in Jackson's and they are a wonderful boot.

I had them heat molded and punched professionally before I did it myself due to them just not working for me. Thanks.
