I have Jackson competitors with aspire XP blades. They were my first professional pair of skates and I loved them. I’m thinking of up grading to the Edda ice flys, and giving them a try for my next skate.

Hi, what skates (or price range) would you recommend for those who skate for fun. It’s a mere hobby for myself. I only skate every two weeks using rental skates and I don’t do any fancy jumps. I like to swirl and skate like a figure skater but staying at ground level all the time.

I was using a pairs of ~$50 American athletic skates from lvl0 to waltz jump, around lvl adult 5. Then the sides started to fold. So if you're just stroking and skating along the wall in circles, you can definitely use these cheap skates, they're also easier to break-in into, and you won't feel as bad if they get scratches when you trip or fall. But if you want to do jumps and spins, definitely go with stiffer boots. If you want brand skates, their websites have all the skates with their stiffness number and what level they're for.

there's a bunch of questions you need to ask yourself before you spend a lot of money on a new skate. what is your budget? what is your age, height, weight, and foot shape? what level are you at? what are your ice skating goals? how often do you skate? are you a recreational skater or looking to compete in freestyle or ice dance? these are all things you should take into consideration when looking at boots/blades

IN my opinion, Jacksons are great for any kind of level of skater/skating. And most people also recommend them.

They are a great boot until they arent. Not every brand of skate fits every type of foot unfortunately. Jackson are commonly worn by all skaters because its the cheapest and most easily accessible brand.

Hey! I’ve seen you comment on my videos but didn’t realize you have a channel! Subscribed! I just ordered my first pair of Jackson Fusions and am super excited to finally have moved to a place where I can spend time learning to figure skate! I’ve always used Riedell growing up in the roller skating scene, but Jackson seemed to come with better blades for the cost. So given that this video is over a year old now, how have your Jacksons held up, blade and all?

Hey! Thanks for stumbling on my video and subbing! Lol. I used the jacksons for 6 months and dumped them. I have a few other videos on them and I've moved onto another brand and love them. Jacksons werent for me, I had a lot of issues with them but I hope they work out for you as they're a great price point and many people use Jackson. Cant wait to see your figure skating vids!! :)

You can make an appointment at the pro shop for a fitting. They measure your foot and suggest the best boot for your level and foot shape.

I also agree with going to a shop to get measured. If you dont have a shop near you, you can always carefully measure your foot length and width and use the Jackson size chart to purchase a skate.

I was looking into buying Jackson ultimas and basically there’s like no skate shops in town here that carry more than Winnwell and some expensive riedells, I was looking at the Jackson ultimate mystiques or the excels.. it looks like the mystiques come with more but I was curious of your opinion!. And if u have a suggestion for a size, I’m a size (US) womens 8 I tried measuring my foot and was about 8 1/2 inches which was size 3 1/2 when I looked at the size chart for Jackson’s but I’m not sure if I should upsize or get the EXACT size, or if u have any recommendations on how to size maybe?

You may want to remeasure your foot more carefully from the heel to the big toe. The best thing to do is to stand on a piece of paper and have someone trace your foot, then measure the tracing. You also need to take in account the width of your foot as well. Skate size and shoe size are not the same and skates should fit your foot snugly, but not be too tight or too small. As for your current shoe size to skate size, it seems off to me to me quite honest. I am a size 6-6.5 womens and my foot is 9+". For you to be 2 shoe size larger than me and have a shorter foot length than me is very unusual. As for mystique or excel, I think that wholly depends on a few things. First, if you are growing or not. If you will grow out of your shoe size, I would say stay a little cheaper since you'll need to buy a new skate eventually. If you are an adult, you can get something a little more expensive as your foot wont grow anymore. Second, what you are looking for out of the sport. If you are looking to grow and learn figure skating elements, I would go up a few levels and get a stiffer boot such as the Elle or freestyle that will be able to support you as you learn to jump. If you only want to skate recreationally around a rink or on a lake, then you wont need anything too fancy.

Okay thanks for the info, yeah I measured heel to big toe but I just didn’t have the right measuring equipment it was a ruler basically so I’ll do the tracing probably, as for my foot size I think they’re done growing because I’ve been a size 8 for a few years now, I’ll definitely re measure and do the width, I was looking at the mystiques and excels because they’re not too too pricy but still a good skate compared to the one I have now, I did see the elles and I do really want them but can’t really find a site I think is legit or that ships to Canada! I’m in BC, But yeah if I can get the elles I would love those for sure.. Anyways thanks for the reply! 😊😊

@@olive4naito have you had them heat molded yet? If the fitter fitted you wide, you might need the wide. The newer style Jackson's only have 2 width options available, whereas the old style which I have had 4 width options. I am gonna make a video about my Jackson's experience soon.

  • @olive4naito

@@thefuumanchuu They were heat molded. I'm only slightly concerned because he had to help a bunch of people today and I wasn't sure if he noticed he had given me the wides. He did have a pair of the Elle skates you have, but my toes wouldn't fit into the same size 4.5s as the Freestyle Fusions. Maybe the Elles were the same width as the regular width Freestyle Fusions and he was checking to see which width fit better. I'll give him a call tomorrow. I feel like I will need insoles with more arch support too. I feel like my arches are more pronounced wearing them because skates are more snug lengthwise than shoes. Hopefully Jacksons Freestyle Fusions can switch out insoles.

  • @thefuumanchuu

@@olive4naito definitely check with the shop, and see if they gave you the right one. As for insoles, Jackson makes an insole called the matrix footbed which fits in the Jackson boot. I've tried it and I like it, maybe the shop has them in stock.

  • @lilianknight4380

The toe pick is so much larger it’s difficult to learn how to place your weight. The toe pick gets stuck a lot at first. The skates also hold your feet very different. Getting skates online is fine if you’re just skating to skate and not planning on learning to do anything more than that. But you should look up the right ones for your abilities, your weight and everything like that. Because you can get a skate online and you try it and it’s so shit it ends up just falling apart around your feet. (Which had happen to me.)

Lilian Knight are these Jackson’s any good for beginners then? I don’t know if to bother getting any. I really want some but I can’t try them on because I am getting used ones since I don’t want to pay a lot, also, I always bend my feet inwards when I skate and it really hurts so would this make a difference or anything?
