TRYING TO SKATE IN MY OLD JACKSON MYSTIQUES? //

Ойын-сауық

Stay tuned for a cheeky hydro blade attempt tho... After six months of skating in my current boots, I thought it’d be interesting to don my old Jackson Mystiques again and see if I could still perform my elements on them.

this is extremely interesting for me because I only have Mystiques and I've been looking at new skates because I feel like they aren't strong enough for me to feel comfortable doing almost anything in them. so it's nice to know that even someone with actual skill is having similar issues as myself lol. I always always ALWAYS find that my heel will not stay seated in the boot, so I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Hey there! The heel issue is such an annoying thing haha it might be indicating that you are levelling up and need some more support. Tbh even though my old boots are so beaten up, I was surprised at how much I could attempt with them... Goes to show that they were great quality.

Yes I have the same issue! I’m also in mystiques and I have been for about 4 months (stating from complete beginner)….I can do waltz jumps and most simple things, but even when tied tightly, they don’t give me the extra support I desire

Great video, i love watching ice skating its such a beautiful elegant and fun sport. Are the blades just dull??? And are the jacksons worth it? I want to learn again but its been almost 30 years, the rental shoes KILL my arches, id rather fall on the ice over and over than the pain in my feet from the rentals. Id love to hear your oppinions on diferent shoes etc,

Thank you! Jackson's are great for beginners! Mine were suuuuuper worn out ( I wore them for like 1.5 years), and they held up way better than they should have. I also had a wider blade radius and longer length. As a beginner Jacksons helped me so much!

StrawberryBTS you can do anything if you work hard, practice hard, focus and push yourself past your limits. Even if it’s not the 2026 Olympics there’s so many more olympics after that. Reach for your dreams and don’t stop for anyone

StrawberryBTS The probability of *anyone* making it to the Olympics is very very very low... Answer would be the same even if you started at 3 years of age or practiced every day. Thousands and thousands of people skate at very high levels and never make it to the Olympics for all kinds of reasons. The olympics are like the tip of the iceberg. Hope you have an injury free and enjoyable journey no matter how far you go by competition standards.

  • @swinxfee

Tbh probably not. But national champion. Sure. Compete in international competitions. Very plausible. Olympics within 6 years with only a couple hours of training. No. Sorry. Olympians train 10 hours a day. You cant expect to be able to do what they do if you dont put in the work.

  • @swinxfee

Regardless. You shouldn’t skate to become an olympian. You should skate because it’s fun and because you’ll become better than you ever would have if you had never started! You could say “i cant start at 12 cuz it’s to old to get to the olympics” or you can say “i should start at 12 cuz i’ll be better than if i wait till 20 or 25” (by the time some people just start out, you’ll be doing double jumps!!)

Hi there! My old boots are extremely worn out, the loose shell of the boot and the ankle support are nowhere near the level of stiffness I require now. I couldn't manage a lot of my skills because of the lack of support (my feet could move a lot inside the boot which throws off your balance and technique). My old blades were also longer than my current so my turning/spinning spots were all different :)

I got Jackson ultima mystiques second hand online. Where I live, skating resources are very scarce and the only 'skate shop' in existence sells only edea which is waaay over budget for me. I'm an adult skater who had just started lessons till corona shut it down. I was making decent progress with my rentals but once I switched to these.. I'm having a lot of trouble. My feet keep on moving and left foot won't stop cramping like crazy mid lesson 😭. Idk what to do 😭. When I went to the edea place, they said I'd need an edea overture of size 260..I currently use Jackson Ultima 8C...any tips or advice ?

  • @ImoneOnIce

If you feel your foot is moving, check the lacing and the integrity of the boot (especially with second hand skates, the support will have decreased depending on how much they were used and for what elements). As for the foot cramps, it might be the boot shape and support level and maybe the shape of your arches/strength. I recommend maybe showing your skates to the shop people and seeing what they say. Might also be worth trying the Overtures on to see how they feel?
