How do I know what model my PS2 is?
To start, look at the sticker on the back of your unit and use the information below to determine your PS2's version number. Only released in Europe. The model # is SCPH-50004 with a GH-027 or GH-029 board. Same board as V10 but console comes with a new laser unit.
This video shows you everything you need to know about taking apart your Playstation2 Fat. If you need to replace the fan or the disk drive this video will show you how to get inside and disassemble your system. Since this system isn't the newest on the market anymore, it's cheaper to replace the parts yourself than it is to send them in for repairs.

As a sixth-generation console, it competed with Sega's Dreamcast, Nintendo's GameCube, and Microsoft's Xbox.

I've got an original too. I want to say I bought it in 2000. Put it on lay-a-way at K-MART LOL. Anyway I dont mess with it anymore, but I've had it turned on in the last couple of years and it's still going strong. I also just like knowing it is there and in good condition. The thing looks brand new! I always took great care with my game systems. It amazes me what some of this stuff gets subjected to.

Pro tip: use the largest driver possible with screws. You did a bunch of P2 screws with a P1 driver. The driver will wear out faster and you run a high risk of stripping/damaging the screws.

Man! That just reminded me of when I had a PSOne and it stopped working. I opened it up and saw that the gears responsible for spinning the disk had come out of place, so I just put them back and the system worked. That's so nostalgic! Now I have a PS2 with a mod chip and softmod, a PSP with custom firmware, a PS3 with PSHen and a modded 3ds, which except for the modchip on the PS2, I modded myself.

I actually did this to my ps2 but since my is the original model 39001 I rip the cable for power supply and the cable for the controller port by accident I had to replace them it wasn't easy trying to replace them because I had to be very careful about the other cables that were still working or still attached to the motherboard and to make it worse I lost some of the screws

Due to deterioration over time, thermal runaway occurs more frequently on PS2. I wanted to see that repair. Also, since I'm Japanese, the region is NTSC, so PAL shouldn't be helpful.

Good restoration, although one thing I should note is that the clock battery is dead on that system (You can tell by the homepage since its just a dot and nothing is moving, its supposed to move in the circle pattern like you see here ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/dayfk8mCYtbNY9o.html ) just thought I would mention that going forward, but good restoration nonetheless.
