When I changed to plant-baeed, 80-10-10, I recovered from a disease not listed by Dr. Campbell, that is, the disease of multi-joint (2 knees, 2 hips, confirmed by x-ray) osteoarhtritis. I was barely able to walk and needed all those joints replaced. Without any joint replacements, now I have no pain on ambulation and walk most of the day with no ill effects--this change started from reading Dr. Campbell's first book, The China Study! I idolize the man and feel a great deal of sadness about all the pain I endured all the years of omst of my life.

My grandma is vegan for a 40 years by now. She is 84 and she has never ever had any health problems. She doesn't even wear glasses. She's more active and vigorous than most of my friends (and I'm 21). It's an amazing thing how we can use our diet to maintain a healthy and happy lifestyle. Good luck to all of you! Im Yu. For the first 2 minutes he speaks about health costs. This same man spent 27 years carrying out a test (costing millions of $ )in which he fed animals milk for the first 12 years of the test. During those 27 years he told people that he could turn cancer off and on like a switch? He was apparently trying to find a cure for liver cancer. At present there is no known cure for liver cancer. 27 years and millions of $ wasted. At around 3.5 minutes without further ado, he tells us ( just as he does in every video he makes) We should be eating a plant based carbohydrate diet??? Then at about 6 minutes, he shows us a list of almost 20 diseases which he states can be cured by plants? Some of these diseases are known to be caused by carbohydrates (sugars) and we already know that cancer cells feed on sugars and cannot survive without sugar. Then he starts telling everyone about his trials…… NOTE that at about 9.30 minutes, he mentions the milk protein that he uses. He carefully skips over the part that this was actually 12 years into the programme, when he or someone decides lets try another type of protein….YIPEE EUREKA. We didn’t think about it at the time because it was simply a protein that was made available to us….YER of course it was. Like I said read between the lines don`t just listen and believe.

golfinguna Thanks. So he's not an angel, didn't know what he didn't know, & took part in studies that proved to be wrong, thus 'wasted' the money spent.. This doesn't conflict with thousands of cases where a whole-food-plant-based, low-fat diets have reversed heart disease & diabetes, & slowed the growth of many tumors.

Time and time again I see others stating exactly the same as you have and it seems likely that you and them are just repeating what McDougall and a few others have told people during these videos. I tend to dissect videos when I watch them. If there are thousands of cases as you stated, then why is there no record of these events. Surely such events as the cures these guys are claiming to have done. would be front page news. Sorry but it does not ring true for me.
T. Colin Campbell is an absolute treasure!
Dr. Campbell is amazing been plant based for a year and have never felt better.
I would like to first apologize to Dr. Campbell, for the simple fact that I nearly skipped over this video based entirely on the title. Thinking that this was just a lecture based on an opinion on improving the healthcare system, I was pleasantly surprised to see a healthy, elderly man sharing his facts about how the right diet can improve my own health significantly. A healthcare system that currently does not stress or display these facts enough, does not allow the communities to know the health benefits proper nutrition can provide. For instance, Dr. Campbell's statement about how eating whole plant-based foods can help prevent and cure diseases, was astounding to me. His intent of showing his audience the benefits of changing their diets to more nutritional ones, definitely shows beneficence. By encouraging a diet that shows significant results in treating illnesses, Dr. Campbell makes a strong case for me to make the switch.
One of the nicest fellows I've met, Colin is a prince and a sage. Wonderful to have access to his life-changing wisdom via this talk!
I absolutely adore Dr. Campbell! He's a revolutionary in the field of nutrition and science!
Went vegan on August 24, 2017 and haven't looked back. Down almost 80 pounds and haven't 'dieted' one day! I eat beans, veggies, fruit and complex carbohydrates when I'm hungry. The change in me was so drastic, that my 'meat and potatoes' husband decided to try it on January 1, 2018. He's still vegan and plans on being so, (as do I) for the rest of our lives. My husband's A1C dropped from 7.5 to 6 in less than 6 months! Just stop and think about that! Anyone that understands A1C will tell you that this is drastic! This gentleman and Dr. Esselstyn's work has added years to my husband's and my life! Dr. Campbell's story about his mother in law lets me know what a good heart he and his family have. LOVE him and Dr. Esselstyn!

I believe Mr Campbell is expressing his ideal diet as a whole food plant based diet. Not vegan nessasarly. There are a lot of vegans that eat unhealthy. I read The China Study on a long trip to Japan, could not put it down. Dr. Campbel has produced a wonderful work here, since the release many years ago much has been discovered both for and against his work. We now look at nutrition as a network for good health it is and focus on wellness we know much more about how to put this together... Epigenetics ?
Just read Dr. Campbell's newer book " Whole-Rethinking the science of nutrition". I read " The China Study" in 2010, was totally convinced, and have been following WFPB diet since , my health has been turned around for the best ( from took 8 Rx drugs to now taking none- not even Tylenol ) . I cannot praise Dr. Campbell enough for his brilliance , integrity and compassion for the goodness of mankind. If people don't take heed to follow his ideas and reasons to adapt to " plant based whole food, " after listening to this lecture, they are not serious about their health , and have to endure all the ill consequences of the SAD ( Standard American Diet) like millions of people around the world even with the best health insurance.

Many cultures around the world have used natural Herbs and foods not only to maintain health, but also cure illnesses. Chinese medicine is one example. Western medicine was born out of battle field needs, combined with scientific thought. Now we finally see Western medicine starting to look into food and nutrition to cure illnesses.
This is a clear explanation on the science on chronic illness and how to prevent and treat He has the credentials to pay attention to.

My dad died of colon cancer in '88...he was diagnosed in '86...his doc told all of us: quit eating processed meats and red meat...eat MORE vegetables. I took it to heart and have also quit dairy, chicken and eggs. Haven't had a sick day from work in over 8 years and I know for a FACT that it's due to eating clean. People just need to quit the processed crap in the Standard American Diet...grow some of your own too! Even herbs will help you each day!
He is 100% right and hard to listen to and easy to ignore
Here's my critic. I love him by the way his work and the research of others convinced me to go vegan. 80-10-10 doesn't let you eat other filling nuttiest dense foods. Nuts, seeds, beans, fatty fruits like avocados, etcetera can all be part of a healthy diet. Obviously you don't eat a cup of nuts like you would oats. But I put a TB in my oats every morning with 2 prices of fruit, cocoa, vanilla, and a TB of chia seeds. These fatty foods keep you filling full and have lots of nutrients you can't get from food that are mostly carbs. My macros tend to be 60% carbs, 30% fat, and 10% protein. I haven't found any long term 80-10-10 diet studies and my diet works best for me. From what I've learned through reading studies and long as you're eating whole plant food and not too many calories you're fine.

Stomach cancer seems most correlated with pickled/preserved foods. The Japanese traditional diet, with its large quantities of tsukemono, results in the highest gastric cancer rates in the industrialized world. Minger noted a correlation (not causation) between greens and stomach cancer in the China Study. If the highest greens intake by rural chinese was by those who depended on preserved foods for winter meals (eating local, no refrigeration), that might account for the gastric cancer.

I think Campbell is referencing them by VOLUME rather than by macro content. And since most whole food contains some water, it makes sense.

J Nutr. 1972 Jan;102(1):53-60 | Effect of protein deprivation of male weanling rats on the kinetics of hepatic microsomal enzyme activity "A deficiency of dietary protein was shown to increase the toxicity of aflatoxin for rats.” ~Campbell Typically a healthy rat will double it’s body weight to 100g in 2 years (and the 20% group did), but the 5% protein group only reached 75 grams. The low protein group also developed fatty livers.
(cont.) Base- 1. the bottom support of anything; that on which a thing stands or rests I eat meat and MY diet is plant based. And as I pointed out (and cited), in cultures where health-related reasons for eliminating meat are eliminated, it is vegetarians with higher 'atherogenic and cancer' rates. This pretty clearly demonstrates that it isn't the removal of meat from the diet but rather the OTHER changes in diet & lifestyle (ie fitness, whole food, no smoking/drinking) that improve health.
Again, i will emphasize that Grains were regionally locked, and generally eaten widely by hunters from the Levant. Hunters in New GIneua developed totally different starch staples, such as Sago palm or Taro roots. I would actually argue that Wheat and other grains offer a large nutritional and land use advantage over other cultures starch staples- IE. I agree with Jared Diamond's conjecture on the nutritional advantages of these cultures.

If it's "been shown," then I presume there is a study which shows this. I eagerly await your response.
No one is actually suggesting the data is false, what's false is the conclusions drawn from it. In fact, that's the best part about Minger's review- she's quoting the ACTUAL data that Campbells provides and showing the reader that Campbell's conclusions aren't supported by it. The data itself supports whole food diets that include meat, as ideal. The DATA.
So glad Dr. Campbell's work is getting the coverage it deserves. Veganism is the only way forward for us as humans.
