So the thing about U-3 is that the lore is changed. U-3 is now the Verdugos, Salazar's guards. You even read about that in the journal entries leading up to where you fight the Verdugo.

To be fair, we still might see the U-3 we all remember if they put out seperate ways given the second verdugo just vanishes during Leon's campaign and you never find out what happened to it. In the original, Salazar and the second verdugo fuse into his boss form, but Salazar is completely alone by the time you fight him in his boss fight during remake, so.... SOMEONE had to deal with the second.

Fun fact, it’s not the door for the kidnapping that fails it, it’s distance from Leon, since there’s no load doors they can open and go through them without the game ending, as long as your next to the same door, the red bar actually indicates the distance from Leon and not the door

I never want to see another lp with Pat again. Woolie made the correct mental health decision to "politely refuse" doing them any more. It's really taxing on the mind to constantly be backseated and insulted every time you fail. That's what killed the original channel. When Matt would say something simple like "I can't do this" and he'd reply "Do it like this you stupid idiot".

@@bigbrowski410 I kinda like that they made the Red9 smaller because even though it was the most powerful handgun, it was still just a handgun chambered for relatively small 9mm rounds. Even at it's strongest it could take up to 3 or 4 shots to kill a Ganado. It wasn't a powerhouse magnum like the Broken Butterfly or Killer7 so it being so big originally didn't really make sense.

replacing adas VA for re4 remake has got to be one of the most bizarre decisions in gaming history.

The original doesn't have bad storytelling. It has a fun storyline, now is meh, the most fun was the Luis part but that part was short.

Loving the remake so far. Thought it was a strange decision to have a dedicated "do Fortnite dances" button available whenever they're trying to kidnap Ashley and she's calling for Leon to help but the game is still great. Maybe I need to learn more game design.

So I think the question "is there anything of the human being still in there" for Las Plagas is pretty interesting even if the game doesn't concern itself too much with it. A curious thing is that the Ganados have some new lines of dialog they didn't have in the original for when they get blinded, or when you shoot them in the legs and stun them. They basically scream *"Why can't I see?"* or *"My body!"* or *I can't walk anymore!"* in Spanish. The remake has a lot of detail put into lore and writing so I think the inclusion of these lines is deliberate. And it kinda feels that either a) The Ganados are so far gone that they don't understand the concept of physical injuries and their consequences anymore. b) It's the parasite "speaking" through them, not getting why their "meat puppet" isn't properly working.

The talk about the human being in there still conscious made me think of Dying Light, some of the newly turned are special because they can full sprint, dodge and jump/vault, sometimes when they fight you they reel back for a second and put their hand up saying like "no", "please" or "wait" before they lose it again.

Imagine a version of dark souls where you can snipe the bell from fire link shrine.

Fun fact: the Ashley clock puzzle is different depending on difficulty. One is for Assisted/Standard, the other is for Hardcore/Professional. The Ashley section was so funny for me cause on my first run through (I’ve already played the game fully through 3 times and am on a 4th), I solved it by complete accident. I have a hard time noticing shit sometimes so I didn’t know the room where you get the note exists and I thought the solution was the time on the small clocks in the room, including one RIGHT NEXT TO THE CLOCK. I input that time and thought Capcom fucked up reading the time cause the actual solution still kinda looks the same. I start my hardcore run and then it’s completely different. I start getting pissed at it and don’t know what to do, I look and find out the note exists and my brain dies a little. 10/10 game, gonna try to get Professional S+ soon.

The game is amazing, tho I will argue dead space worked out more as a remake simply because it more invalidates the need to play the original dead space. Whereas og re4 is still a timeless classic people will go back to.

Yes that's a good point, the recent REmakes feel like capcom getting a chance to both update the gameplay/graphics while also changing some story parts to make more sense in the direction its going. Essentially soft reboot but better than the dmc one.

I've got an inside source at Capcom, much like how RE4 increases Leon's depth with his PTSD they are gonna give Chris more things that incorporate the previous games he starred in. First up is they decided to incorporate more of his police background, as such at the start of every combat encounter he instinctively reaches for a bodycam only to discover he doesn't have one.

I do think he WANTS Ada to be a better person, and thinks that deep down she's capable of doing so, but is also understandably really bitter at her over what happened. He's kind of confirmed to be correct when she refuses to give Wesker the Plaga sample, but then again, even if she is just a craven mercenary she can't be a double agent if the entire world population is dead. So it could be her having a conscience, or it could just be her being smart enough to realize she can't do merc jobs on a dead planet.

Another thing I noticed was that Leon does not mention Umbrella being shut down to a government block on their stocks, which led to them crashing. Maybe hinting at we may finally get an RE game taking down Umbrella.

They also retooled the red 9 reload to make it more accurate. IE he removes the stripper clip by hand instead of stylishly flicking it away. Also another note you can parry grabs and it legit just cuts off their arm. It's wild.

I would say the reload animations are really impressive in this game too, the bolt action alone is amazing

17:00 the bridge that the el gigante destroys has a side path right next to it that you can cross after its destroyed so you can back track either way.

Another fun thing about the Merchant is lines that imply hes part of an entire group of merchants and some maybe minor implications he may have been part of the group or descended from the group that wanted to seal Las Plagas away.

I'm sure the shooting gallery feels fun and cool on PC. Trying to S rank those things (especially that last one) on console was a pain unlike anything the main game could throw at me.

I'm sure RE2 Ada's voice actor was just busy and it didnt have anything to do with her joining a union. I thought Ada was a huge downgrade but she got better as the game went along. It was weird though. It wasn't just ada's line delivery being off it sounded like she recorded her lines on a phone mic.

I think the audio quality was fine, it's just her voice. It's very generic older woman sounding. I've seen someone comment somewhere that she sounds exactly like their aunt and I think that's the problem. She sounds like a LOT of people's aunts/grandmothers.

@@contardation I don’t really by lack of direction as she could have referenced the originals tones and inflections. Saddler’s voice was also kind of a downgrade. His manner of speaking and mocking Leon with his absolute confidence to the very end made him much more memorable as a villain. “Did you really think I would trust an America?” “Writhe in my cage of torment my friend”. Those lines and the way he said them stick with u. This Saddler is barely on screen and everything he says is generic evil pope stuff. The old Saddler spoke in a way where u know he doesn’t believe in this religious crap, he just wants to take over the world.

Why the hell do people not like U3/"it"? It was probably one of the scariest/most tense parts of the original game. And I found it super memorable. No clue how Pat, who loves this game above all else seemingly, would go "ah, that thing was never good anyway"

Everybody is anticipating re5 remake next but I think Capcom is going to make devil may cry 1 remake instead. Like the assets for a Gothic style castle is there from re4 remake and they have assets from dmc5. Why not remake dmc1? They're already half way there really.

I kept looking at the one smaller clock on the ledge next to the big clock thinking that was the solution.

One thing I think is completely goofy about the Ashley changes is it's now timer based not completely distance or 'did they leave the room" based. Meaning sometimes NPC's who have her who can't find a way to leave will just stand in a corner holding her until the timer finishes.

13:46 they changed it around Pat. You find notes about how the Novistadors were created(the U-II's) by injecting the fluids from the Las Plagas into the wombs of women and then the U-III which are now the Verdugo(with one being the housemaid and the other being the butler transformed into insect-humanoid hybrids through some unknown but similar means as the Novistadors).

It's insane how I found this girl years ago and now she's in the podcast of my longest followed guys of my time on youtube!

17:10 i learned after backtracking through the whole part to get to that locked chest that there is a small ledge not shown visibly on the map next to the broken bridge that you can just cross over

So far, it has reminded me of playing the original RE4 for the first time (kinda tense, being unsure what's going to happen and taking a minute to figure out how the combat works exactly) mixed with a feeling of "OH I RECOGNISE THI- this is new :O". Like you can look at a random scene and recognise the location/moment but how it all connects together and flows is so detailed and feels different. Also, the bear trap placement has been pretty hilarious (they like to spawn around Leon's ankles whenever seems silliest). Anyway, is always nice to see the Hunter Of Sphere's in The Castle :D

I played the entire game on PS4 and it was perfectly fine. Some graphical hiccups and pop ins but like 99% a serviceable experience. Pat once again is wrong.

39:31 It's the best in VR because you do the whole motion yourself. VR actually breaks the game because you can do all that stuff as fast as your hands can manage without needing to upgrade your gun's reload speed. You can also fire the rifle "from the hip" without looking down the scope and move while shooting.

Just add Suzi as regular at this point, maybe a once a month thing?

I feel like the only person who was fine with Lily Gao's performance. The least entertaining for sure, but it feels like she was asked to play Ada fairly straight and somewhat distant from it all. I would have preferred her hamming it up but I would say Ronda Rousey was 10x worse as Sonya Blade, at the least.

RE5 remake will have Chris punching mountains with his big beefy arms and doing royal guard style.

Movement def takes some getting used to which is weird since you'd think the RE2 and 3 remakes would've conditioned us to the new movement by now lol. Leon feels more agile though in the remake which I love

I was playing Ashley's section and cursing that we will never get a Rule of Rose or Clocktower 3 remake or port.

I'll admit, I was one of the skeptical people going into this game, I thought the OG didn't need a remake at all, and after playing it I STILL believe it wasn't needed, but god damn am I happy that it exists holy shit, now I really want Capcom to remake 5 with co-op so I can re-experience it again with a friend!

If they do end up remaking 5 the one thing i want fixed is the lack of Fauna infections. Like they put the setting in Africa, home of some of the most unique wildlife on earth; Giraffes, Elephants, Rhinos, Hippos, etc. And what do we end up fighting? Dogs and Roaches, 2 of the most profilic animals on earth. Such a waste of a setting.

I know we're loving the Mass Effect playthrough, but maaaaan I'd love a 1 or 2 week break where we get a couple RE 4 streams of woolie and reggie handing the controller off to each other. They would have a BLAST. =)

I love how the snipers and AR can be used with its iron sights. Now granted the first person view with iron sights isn't the best but I love how it's at least an option

33:00 I had this exact interaction on release weekend. My friend dropped in several times over the weekend and on Sunday he just asked if there was anything else or if the shooting gallery WAS the game.

My bet for the RE5 remake is that it'll start with Lost in Nightmares and they'll expand on the parts in Africa and have more of a focus on sheva and her desire to stop exploitation from biotech companies in Africa because her reasons for being there in the original might as well have been because she didn't have a ride home after chapter 2. They'll also probably showcase more of what Africa actually looks and relegate the marshlands to one section finding the oil rig fighting swamp monsters and cut the mud hut village and cave ruins entirely and once you get to the facility and boat the African warlords will be replaced with an infected PMC group so then the story can refocus to Chris and his fight against wesker

Base the Majinis on Katanga, a breakaway state in the Congo which was heavily supported by Western mining companies and mercenaries from Belgium, Rhodesia, and South Africa. That way you can fight Africans without it being racist (because they're imperialist collaborators) and you can have white dudes mixed into their ranks representing foreign PMCs. And plus they're all plaga-infested at this point, so it doesn't really matter.

Why is shooting black people automatically more racist than shooting any other race. I am not american so I really don't get it.

God I would kill to have some kind of For Honor-ish game where you fight ancient Plagas and establish Castle Salazar.

Really my only complaint about the remake is that they cut the U-3 fight completely. In my opinion remakes should never cut major content like that. Rework it, yes. Cut it, no. (and yes I know the lore for U-3 changed, but I just miss that freak)

I think that it's going to be in the separate ways DLC. It's pretty heavily implied that U3 is still a thing. Not fighting the second Verdugo during the Salazar fight was definitely seems to be foreshadowing that.

@@hatad321 I'm happy with that cut, I hate that section. Everyone falls with one shot from a pistol anyway. Everytime I finish the Mendez fight I always dread going back up the gondola, only to feel relieved when I remember that it just skips the ride back up.

Yeah, you can sometimes sprint up to someone from the front and if they haven't been alerted you'll still get the prompt

I'm so mad because I stumbled on Ashley's skip and didn't even realized it. I got to the clock puzzle and assumed the answer would be in the room so I looked at the clocks in the room and entered that on the puzzle and the door opened and I never even saw the door that lead to the library and was so confused when I saw Pat playing through all this extra stuff

The Zaibatsu may be dead and gone, but from its ashes rises the Pat, Woolie, and Suzy Conglomerate!

I've been playing on PC with an xbox controller and didn't know about this dead zone issue Pat mentioned at the end. Is there a fix for that?

The Story v Gameplay dichotomy is that of a Yakuza game

I personally think that the reloads are just a cool, but in a different way. These are like the most lavish and realistic gun handling animations that I've ever seen. Like a lot of things in this game, I think it's a tradeoff.

Did anyone on PC have an issue with Luis' hair bugging out in cutscenes? His hair was always moving about like there's a strong gust of wind blowing by

Headcanon now thanks to me learning about Herb Lore: The reason that the zombies don't go down in 1 hit to the head in the first 3 games (Remakes included) is because while they were alive they used the green herb as medicine and maybe something to do with the water in the area.

I always used the free rocket launcher to skip the Salazar fight. I hated that boss as a kid, but Verdugo was one of my favorites

That part where the beast titan was throwing rocks got me on the first run so I having no ammo yet tons of cash, I got the rocket launcher and blew him to kingdom come. It might have been a waste but better spend cash to avoid Monke
