    Super nice job! I was a little lost until I saw that the rockers were installed then it all made sense why you did it the way you did. It's going to be nice and solid. One thing I like about a none professional doing it is that ordinary folks really take their time and do it right. Where I see these guys on Netflix and Corporate TV shows slapping lipstick on a pig. Throw a nice paint job on it, throw the interior in it and call it good. Never mind what those rockers look like inside or under the carpet. Kinda makes me sick that folks are eating these cars up like candy just because they look good on what you can see. Anyways super job. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

    Keith. Thanks for the nice comment. I want to restore this car the right way. I am taking my time and trying to do it the best I can with what I have. I purchase some trunk filler panels from opgi. They were not really good stampings. I had to return them twice and then I decided to look somewhere else I found a guy on eBay that had almost original stampings. So that takes a lot of time on restoring the car trying to find good parts. Last night, I spend some time categorizing my videos. thank you for the tip. Really appreciate it. All the best, Harry

    Had a highly recommended body shop put a full pan in my 70 Chevelle and now my transmission hits it and I can't get the cross member under the trans. Need 4" to get it under it. It's aligned right on the frame

    I would take the car back to them with the transmission and the crossmember and have them tell you what the problem is. Maybe they installed the wrong floor pan. Or the floor pan could have been stamped wrong. Maybe you can compare the old one, if they still have it. With the one that they installed? Maybe the tunnel is not good enough. I hope this makes sense. Good luck . All the best

    No, I did not make a video on how to brace the car. If you watch the video. You could see the connecting points on where I welded the braces so it does not move.. There might be other videos that show those braces. You might have to just go through the whole collection. LOL

    Thank you. When I was taking it apart, I had it on stands that I made that were perfectly level all four corners front the back. When I started installing the floor pan I reinstalled the frame underneath to make sure everything lined up. It is a long process. I try to post a video of me finishing up the quarter panel last night, I had the radio playing in the background... I had copyright issues so I had to delete it. I'm going to have to cut the songs out and repost a video hopefully tonight. All the best my friend

    Hi Harry! Reviewing this video again since I am getting closer to doing this work on my Chevelle. I bought a floor pan with braces, but my rockers, I purchased separately. What makes more sense to you? Install the rockers on the floor pan before trying to install on the car or install the rockers separate from the floor pan on the car? Thank you sir in advance.

  • @classicrewind2715

    @classicrewind2715

    Hi Steven , You would have to install the Rockers first so the floor pan will line up properly. If I were you I will secure everything with some zip screws that way if you need to make an adjustment you could move it. Don't forget to dry fit your doors too, make sure the gap on the bottom is correct. All the best..

    Hey John I hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching. That floor pan I purchased it from OPG Ames sells it as well and so does Parts Direct, you can buy it with the trunk floor pan already installed but since I was replacing the inner wheel wells and the fenders I kind of figured. I might as well do that in two separate pieces. I hope this helps my friend. All the best

  • @classicrewind2715

    @classicrewind2715

    I really would suggest you remove the frame from the body.. I don't think is possible to get under the door pillars to do a proper job. You might consider getting a floor pan without the the Rockers. That way you could do everything from up top. All the best and good luck my friend.

    Hi. Are you replacing the whole floor or just the front floors? If you're just doing replacement panels you don't have to do any extra bracing. The firewall should keep it from moving.

    I can't remember for sure if that cowl panel went under the dash. But I know, I show you in my video. Sorry you would have to watch the video again .it's been a while since I did that job. There's one problem with my replacement cowl panel.. the fender bolt holes are in the wrong position. I will make a new video on that when I get to the front of the car again.. I hope this helps. Good luck with everything let me know how it turns out. thanks

    William I will not be painting I would be doing a lot of the prep making sure the panels are straight. I'm probably going to use as some kind of 2K primer for levelling. Then I'm going to have it professionally painted. I was thinking of some type of midnight blue.

    Hi. It depends on how much work is involved to remove it. In other words if your Rockers are in good , your inner cowl panels your wheel wells there's a lot of areas of the car that is a factor and then they charge anywhere between $50 to $120 an hour depending on the body shop. It took me approximately 60 hours to change that floor pan. but I was dealing with changing cowl panel, wheel well, trunk pan, inner quarter panels, that all takes a factor. it makes it a lot easier.All the best

    Just the floor pan would be done by the hour. Pretty much when you work on antique cars everything's done by the hour. time and material. it also depends on where you live. If you live in the Northeast you're looking at around $90 an hour. If you live down in Florida you're looking at around $65 an hour maybe less. I hope this helps. sorry, I can't give you a definite answer. it depends on what they find once they remove the old floor pan.
