Replacing stock on Kar98K

Received a Kar98K for $500, but unfortunately it had a "sporterized" stock on it. Replaced the stock with a non-sporterized one, but unfortunately it is not from he correct time period. Oh well.

Shame that the original stock got sporterized, had beautiful wood grain too. Great video!

As usual, dealing with the front sight hood is the biggest pain of the whole project. Nice stock, sir.

That doesn't look very hard, thanks for the video. I bought a 1941 Sauer and Sohn K98k, but unfortunately the stock had a pretty good crack from the foregrip to the magazine. As far as I know, it was the original stock, but I wasn't sure about filling it and refinishing the stock, so I opted to replace it for now. Thanks again

I got my first k98. The previous owner cut the lower stock down about 3 or 4in. from the front. They moved the front barrel band down to hold it together. It is just enough to be annoying. I will be getting another original stock at some point and this might be able to help with that.

Does the sight hood absolutely have to come off? Looks like room to clear everything from the video but it’s hard to tell and I don’t have the rifle on hand

I have a question, could you theoretically cut down the stock of a Kar98k to just around the grip near the trigger? I know you can do this in Warzone and I'm wondering if you did it if the gun would even function

You should be jailed for even thinking about doing that to that beautiful rifle, however yes it would work because there aren't any components that make the rifle fire in the stock however the recoil would probably hurt and you'd look like an idiot in the range, i hope that clears things up.
