Repairing Shark Vacuum Extension Wand switch button release - NV352 upright fix broken 121FFJ

www.nodadnoprob.com
So my vacuum cleaner broke. Doh. It happens. In this video I show what the problem is, troubleshoot it, and demonstrate the steps to repairing the issue of a broken release button on a Shark Navigator Lift-Away bagless vacuum, model NV352, part number 121FFJ. This piece is compatible with shark vacuums NV350, NV351, NV352, NV360K, NV361BK and NV361PR, so this fix should work for all of those vacuums.
Hope this helps, message me with questions and have the BEST. DAY. EVER.

I am so glad that I found this video on here! Now, I get to attempt to fix my oh probably six and half year old Shark. It's been a great vacuum. Thank you for posting those video! I seriously needed the help. Fixed the dishwasher and now have to fix the Shark. Great video. Thanks bunches.

Excellent! I had the exact same failure on my "Shark NV352 extension wand." The part failed after 5 years of use. Determined the problem, but didn't occur to me to pop off the housing to access the locking lever and spring. Thanks so much! I was going to simply glue the extension to the joint and be done with it since we rarely use this, normally using the upper, shorter extension. Your solution is certainly the repair needed. The OEM extension wands are pretty pricey running around $30-$50 new and even around $30 used on eBay.

Thank you!!! I just moved and when my vacuum got to my new home, I had the exact same problem as your video the first time I tried to use it after moving! THANK YOU! Very helpful! I’m heading to find some Rapid Fuse. Super glue isn’t quite working for me either.

On my Shark, the gray cap you popped off was cracked. One side was broken away but the Red button was ok. I placed the spring into the red button and put a fake fingernail atop the spring before wrapping packing tape once around to hold everything in place. Bob's yer Uncle !

Note that "super glue" is not the solution to repair the broken lever (see 2:25). NONP used "DAP RapidFuse" to create the proper bond. RapidFuse is available at Lowes/Home Depot for around $6. Also, go ahead and remove the smaller end of the broken lever and the spring making to make it easier to apply and set the adhesive. Reassembly is straight forward. Thanks for your help!

@@NoDadNoProblem sadly no. I wave a string holding the piece together at the cord holders. I'm going to make a rubber mold of it to make one out of acrylic. If that doesn't work, then I'll call the company for that one part. I don't want to buy the whole piece.

Sadly it seems to be a fairly common problem, which is something that shouldn’t be occurring in a higher end vacuum. I’m glad you were able to get it fixed.

Thanks for the video. I was unsure how to remove this part but watching you do it gave me the confidence I needed. I'm amazed that Shark doesn't sell this part. The best I could find is an e-Bay part that matches up. $22 Crazy... I'm going to try super glue.

I hope it works out for you. It is frustrating that they don't sell the part that is prone to failure and instead make you buy an aftermarket part that costs a lot more than a $2 switch and spring should cost.

same, i will try crc spray to loosen it, my breakage is the plastic clips that hold the dust bin on, have both broken, taping it on at the moment, effects rhe suction, not so efficient, cant see glue doing the job tho, off to spare parts for that one, i think the type of plastic they use tends to get brittle, so you have to be mindful of that, picking the whole vacuum up by the handle one too many times, very tempting to do tho, with the handy handle right there

The wand on mine won't latch either, however the button appears to be working. I can see the red latch inside move. It simply seems it isn't large or strong enough to stay in place once i push the wand down past the little ridge on the vacuum where the latch should catch. I am going crazy trying to think of a way to fix it. I don't want to use glue or tape; i need to be able to take it apart to clean out clogs

I have the same problem. The latch moves inside but it's not catching. It worked fine when used twice this afternoon, and on the third time, it just wouldn't latch. I've taken the latch off entirely. The spring is there, the piece isn't broken. I'm at a loss for what to do now. Were you able to fix yours?

Hey...If your wand gets stuck ...please know that you HAVE TO have the cord COMPLETELY unwrapped from it's handles - otherwise it will NOT let go. I guess there are tiny sensors in them. So don't go with a hammer & screwdriver at the small white latches unless you absolutely have to.
