*FUN FACT:* Rengoku's "delicious" quirk comes from an old Japanese warrior saying. They were taught to savor every bite of food because it could be their last so he wasn't just being energetic, he was enjoying what he thought might be his final meal.

Speaking of Rengoku…’s voice actor Satoshi Hino, he’s also in this food anime “Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill”! He plays a gluttonous Fenrir (i.e. giant magical wolf) who becomes the MC’s familiar after savoring his cooking. There are loads of recipes for Alvin to give a try!

One of my favorite KZread channels. It's just so soothing to watch these videos.
It’s kind of sad knowing his reason to saying “umai” every bite he took. It was a traditional way Japanese warriors (maybe samurais) were taught to savour every bite or meal, like it was their last. Knowing Kyojuro’s style and way of life, he’s a very smart and charismatic hashira.
I can see why Rengoku loved this meal so much. Fuku and her grandma worked so hard to make those bentos!

@glitterboy2098

Miyazaki's films always seem to have amazing food depictions in them. And i agree the porridge would be an interesting choice. Especially if you take the challenge in figuring out what things other than rice the two of them might have had on hand (either in their packs or easilly foraged in the area) to use in it other than just the rice.

Everyone knows the bento would be delicious, but we all can’t get over Rengoku’s death. RIP to the legend!
The glaze/dip I made (with a couple addition of my own) & used to glaze a a 4 lb park roast that I then smoked over cherry wood & oak wood. Not wood chips. Whole wood that I cut into usable pieces. I live on 40 acres in a part of my home state is BBQ/Smoker happy. I built a Cajun Microwave. Wood & copper. Wheels are a must. Big enough to smoke a whole pig or hog.
Wow that looks incredible 😂 I doubt I'll ever get the chance to make it, but seriously wow
The anime looks like it was trying to depict a sukiyaki bento. So gyunabe flavor for the beef was spot on, albeit I would opt for using sukiyaki warishita, simply cuz it’s easier. Scallions need to be a bit more thinly sliced and cooked together with the beef. The tofu on the show was probably fried tofu, and again, this should be cooked together with the beef. Having said that, normal tofu is perfectly fine. Apologies for being fussy, but I just love sukiyaki.
@Mokiefraggle
Жыл бұрын
...That didn't look much like sukiyaki to me. No cabbage, no shiritaki noodles, nothing apparent except for beef and onion. Also, there's no signs of the tofu or the negi being cooked in as much sauce as the beef was, judging by what's on-screen, so I'd say it was cooked separately (a bento can, after all, have many separately prepared components). Grilled negi by themselves are pretty common, though I see them more often as part of skewers of yakitori and the like, so that's what I would imagine the pieces of them in the bento probably are. Honestly, given what's going on in that bento, I would've wanted tofu that was only lightly marinated and pan-fried, to cut down the sheer volume of overly rich sauces going on.
Waaait a second....aside from that marvelous bento box...that's Alvin Zhou from tasty's making it big
Not going to lie, I came back to this video just for that scallion sauce. Looks amazing
