While rice is indeed Zoro's favourite; he prefers it in Onigiri form. the rice is part of the curry which is Brook's favourite. Instead Zoro's favourite in this scene is actually the bottle of alcohol he packed alongside the other food.

So close to the real dish! It looks amazing! Just smol facts: according to the author's notes, the curry is takoyaki curry because it's Brook's favourite and the pasta is supposed to be spicy seafood pasta because it's Sanji's favourite. Still, it looks so tasty aaa

He adds a lot of trivia and bits in those, as well as some random sketches, such as Zoro's swords and earrings if they were humans, possible future looks of the Straw Hats, and so on.

I'm not a big fan of Sanji, but I'll admit it melted my heart when he realized through tears that he made all of their favorites. He even packed a bottle of alcohol for Zoro, tangerines for Nami, and a chocolate bar for Chopper (the curry was for Brook). He knew that even if he did care for Pudding, that the Straw Hats are his family, despite how much they can annoy him. It's heartwarming.

For me it was his introductory episode - feeding starving strangers, for free, at the risk of your job (and later your life) says a lot about your character.

As someone who's watched the show from childhood to today, this is one of the few meals that I have enjoyed the most. It is important not just story wise but because I would always try to replicate it anyway I could when I felt down. You have done great as always Alvin!

Its a perfect story beat. It works as wonderful metaphor for how Sanji is feeling, and aaso reminder of what makes the other strawhats special. Nobody can build up those moments llke Oda can.

I won't lie, when I got to this scene, I started bawling my eyes out. One of Sanji's best scenes.

Please attempt Sanji's fish balls, potato skins, and vegetable dish from the G8 filler arc. I know it was unrealistic, but it looked so appetizing

I feel personally called out

Just remembering the episode when Sanji brings it to Luffy instead, and Luffy realizes it’s everyone’s favorite foods still brings me to tears. And despite it being all messed up in the anime, he still eats it and enjoys it! And furtherly brings to mind when Judge calls out to Luffy why he would go so far for Sanji, someone who fed rats, and the lowly and Luffy offers him not even a response. 🥲 One Piece is Beautiful!

You could probably fill a whole series in and of itself with One Piece food lol

I'd love to see him take on the meal he created at the one Navy base... I think it was just after Skypeia? The one where he chastises the kitchen crew about wasting food, and proceeds to make additional (and tasty) dishes from the stuff they were about to toss out.

My favorite thing about one piece is that if you want to make one of the dishes from there not only is there an officially licensed book of recipes for from the show but usually they show the food so clearly that you can recognize every dish by looking up on Google 😊🤓😍🤩

this dish means so much to me because even away from the crew, even when he claimed he was leaving and that he didnt want luffys help, his heart knew the truth.

Some amazing timing on this one, I literally JUST got to this episode last night, And I am dehydrated from the tears

They showed the bento box and it was somewhat of a happy moment, but an hour or so later, Sanji was in tears.

The next Anime with Alvin should be the huge meal Tatsu makes for his wife in The Way of the Househusband. They even tell you what all the dishes are!

The fact I’ve just gotten to the episode he makes this bento box the other day and you’ve just made this kinda threw me through a loop

Bento boxes are so fascinating to me! I plan to try my hand at it soon, but I'm making mine a lot simpler and healthier. Trying to incorporate the Mediterranean diet into my life to help with fatty liver disease (not from alcohol).

I bet the spaghetti dish in Sanji’s original bento is peperoncino, which is really common in japan. It’s olive oil, chili peppers, garlic and parsley :)

A amazing way of cooking the mackeral is letting it sun dry for a day after splitting it in half length wise and then baking it.

Whole Cake Island was Sanji's arc and this bento box had a lot of plot relevance

add a dipping sauce for the ham, and this is like the perfect (big) meal for me

I like adding a hearty sprinkle of smoked paprika to egg salad; it taints the color, yes, but it does add a lovely subtle something to it~
