    Much like Dark Souls, I think FFXIV redefined his content, his stream, and maybe even the way he views MMOs. Suddenly having to clear trash for half an hour before the boss seemed weird. Having to run back, eat, rebuff for half your raid time seemed excessive. Good storytelling and compelling character design weren't so unattainable. I also think it broke a wall, I don't think he'd have played Honkai, and maybe even Lost Ark without playing FFXIV first. It's a shame it comes with so much baggage for him and the community now. I really wish he'd made it to Shadowbringers, and Emet-Selch in particular.

    @@KingQuatto Incredibly popular. Endwalker has had a very high player retention rate. Game costs $40 bucks or so and you pay per expansion. Sub price is equalish to wow's (I don't remember the actual cost, I have a discount so idk). The game is still continuously growing. Expect a slow burn of a story that gets better and better over time. I recommend taking time to doing the many side content that opens up at 50,60,70,80,90 (after you get to the credits in the main quest that is at those levels, NOT your character's current level), and ultimately going at your own pace. You'll catch up eventually. There's a lot of reading. It's very worth spending the time to do that. Mentors are meme, but they're here to help. If you run dungeons with a mentor, you get a bonus in xp which is nice. Feel free to reply if you have any more questions, I can answer stuff ingame or however

    @@KingQuatto the free trial is free-to-play with no restrictions on playtime, and lets you play the base game and first two expansions. I can't say how much time it'd take you to 'get into it', as that highly relies on what you're looking for and luck. I will say that, for a lot of people, the game's story is considered very good. It is still very active. Queues are short, towns are full of players. We ARE in a content drought though, awaiting the next expansion release at the start of July. To try the free trial, I recommend looking up a video on how to best do it. Account creation can be worse than any boss fight!

  • @alexgenki

    @alexgenki

    @@KingQuatto TBH it depends on your definition of "get into it". Doing the MSQ is recommended because FF is well known for its story telling. The story itself will take a long time, several months to complete. If you like story games, its an unforgettable experience. The game is still popular, but in a lull phase because its right before a new xpac release. As for money, you can do a free trial all the way up until end of stormblood (2nd expansion), so you can start trying the story for free. If you're doing it purely for endgame, there are a lot of hurdles in your way.

  • @QuintemTA

    @QuintemTA

    3 ай бұрын

    @@KingQuatto If you pay attention to and play through the story (MSQ) it will take around 300-400 hours currently. Depending on reading speed and other factors. If you skip everything you could be done in like 50-75 if I had to guess. Then you'd be at endgame which is a lull at the moment. Rushing would not help much. If you have any friends that play that can really help the journey through the game. Guide you to content of interest and jump in for major bosses and dungeons along the way. The game is free to play all the way through it's second expansion, so if you're not sold on the game after playing through 200 hours worth of content to put money down, then not much else will convince you.
