as someone who greatly enjoyed his past FFXIV stuff, I would love to seem him come back and stream the game. HOWEVER, I know that most of his fans don't like it so he likely will not come back in full force. Maybe he'll play off-stream, but it is what it is

He really seemed to enjoy the game as well. Sadly, between his fanbase who seems to hate everything FF related, and the ff fanbase, being how it is, drove him away from the game. It's really ironic, how both fanbases, who hate each other, managed to accomplish driving him out of the game, each by their own means.

Don't think asmon care that much. He just don't want to play the same game all the time.

Haven't played since Endwalker came out but to this day, the few months I played through the entire game and the payoff in Endwalker is one of my peak gaming experiences

Well I don’t know if asmon reads these, but a realm reborn to endwalker is one huge arc broken into chapters(the expansions). Dawntrail is the start of a new arc that yoshi-p wants to extend for another 10 years if I recall right.

No no, he wants to extend his job of working on FFXIV for another 10 years. He at some point also stated that his arc most likely will not be as long as the previous one. So I'm going to guess like 3 expansions?

Yoshi said he wasn't going to do a high stakes expansion and that we're going back to our adventurer roots. There's nothing wrong with it and many of us are super excited to be able to just explore again.

@@JackgarPrime There is a sort of succession war happening in the region so the (ex) scions find themselves divided probably supporting different individuals succession to the throne. I don't think that will be the 'cause of the main conflict but nevertheless it will bring some tension within the team. I think moving forward they need to set up a big bad (similar to Ascians/Zodiark/Empire). I mean even if they don't threaten to destroy the world this expansion, at least we will be introduced to them and see the bad guys lay down some ground work towards it. But meh...all speculation. I'm excited to wait and see!

@@AkaroXIV While yeah some spents years in the first before you got there, however it was only like a few days at most in the Source, so their bodies didn't age much as their memories did.

I think the reason why it feels like "no stakes" is that we just finished a saga and now the WoL is deserved a vacation and everyone else in the party. It's only to lift everyone up and to make us feel like were at our strongest, only in the end it starts to crumble and us getting beat down. I'm thinking A New Hope - Empire Strikes Back.

Nah, this trailer makes the game feel like the vacation is about to begin, everybody walking around the big city, just enjoying the vibes.

NEED more of those female vocals. And the Krile part of the song is an awesome new injection of melody, and seems to be what this expansion's battle theme will be based on. Can't get enough of it

A new zone like Eureka to farm if im bored, some ishgard restoration type of thing, a new limited job when i need to collect beasts.... They did say that the Ascian storyline ended with Endwalker and most of the loose ends have been resolved in this expac. So Dawntrail is pretty much a second ARR where they start a new storyline altogether.

@@semiramisubw4864 he never said it was the best, he said the two expansions are SOME of the best. And he's right, they are expansion stories that are up there with Blood and Wine + Heart of Stone from Witcher, and Far Harbor from Fallout 4, and many others.

That's pretty sweet there's Mamool'Ja in the new expansion.

The showed off new areas, including "Solution Nine", a futuristic techno-city which at the very least suggests that there's more to the expac than just "laid-back adventuring through Tural".

Just finished the MSQ and I am very impressed at how little of the second half of the story was even hinted at in the pre release material.

You arent kidding anyone Asmon, you aint never coming back to 14.

Dawntrail is looking like a great expansion from what they've shown.

The three new jobs look quite nice. I didn't know Pictomancer was a thing back in Final Fantasy VI. I completely forgot that. At first, I thought it was a unique job for FFXIV, like the viper. I am curious how the new limited-job beast master will be. I hope it's some kind of Pokémon class. Catch monsters and do battles against NPCs and other players.

The in-game graphics are quite different from the pre-rendered cinematics and there's settings to scale it back quite a bit. Your computer would probably be fine, but the good news is they let you play the entire base game and the first 2 expansions for free so if you're ever interested in trying it out and seeing how your computer does it won't cost you a cent.

you gotta play shadowbringer man, that was one of the best story arks i ever played no mmo even comes close to it, the characters and big villain are just MMMMMmmm "chefs kiss" so good, Endwalkers was also very good the final main story fight still gives me goosebumps it was such a crescendo after such a long journey

Random fact: Since Heavensward, the theme music played in the trailers is pretty much the theme in the dungeon boss music.

Hope ya get back into playing again man. It'd be fun time for everybody.

Do not think he plans to go back to the game, but it's cool he racted to the trailer, gives the game some more exposure.

I know that the new meelee dps job is cool, but they added him purely for glam reason to have another class with 2 swords. I honestly think vpr will have as much identity as war with the blackest night

Not exactly 6 months. They haven't put out a concrete date yet, but Yoshi-P did say for sure that it is gonna release this summer. They have a date, but they dont want to announce it yet.

I actually like that it is a chill expansion. It's nice to get a break from the serious stuff after Endwalker.

Blizzard cinematics--the expansion trailers--are also of higher quality in terms of visual fidelity and cinematography, meaning each frame takes longer and more resources to render--thus some trade offs in terms of location variety are inevitable.

I am really looking forward to some laidback chill story after the insane final that was Endwalker. Just some island adventures, new tribes and maybe some political backstabbing. Give me back Teledji Adeledji - that dude was so twisted but god dam was he an enjoyable low stakes villain. Gimme some warchief that just doesnt like us and calls war upon us with his little tribe giving us a minor but important story about helping the new world freeing themself from the danger. They released it in 3 versions, one for each FanFest. Each one gets progressively longer and includes more details. (second one added the sequences with the viper class, meaning the dual swords; this one added the pictomancer and the reveal of the female hrothgar at the end)

Wish you, and we, had the chance to see you experience how the game progressed. I understand the community made it harder than it needed to be. FF fans can be rabid. There is just a lot of great fights and bosses that just get better every expansion and you're a very good judge of fights and mechanics it would have been great to see you experience them. But, glad you're happy streaming again, and that's great.

i mean it was everybody. no excuses for FF fans but both sides were being cringe, and from what i remember, since wow is home of course WoW was chosen. either way tribalism is cringe and i wish we could all enjoy what we enjoy. i love both games and the majority of people in both communities are chill.

Anyone else read "Downfall" initially? 😂
