I was a heroin addict for 12 years, it’s eerily accurate behavior for hard drug addiction. I personally think they were implying just one “bite” is all it takes and even a close well meaning friend can be the one to hand it to you.❤ I’ll be 6 years sober in June and it’s the best decision I EVER made!

@@btchpants Thank you! Yup it’s a really rough thing to try to come back from. Luckily I didn’t have a choice as I got arrested. But if they didn’t arrest me then, I don’t think I’d still be alive. Lot of my friends didn’t make it. I’m grateful every day.

The line 'I have no soul' is something I still quote. The blowing up gag is one that never fails to make me laugh, even now.

When Squidward says if he was trapped in a well, he’d eat his own legs rather than the krabby patty, thats actually a smart move. Octopi (yes, squidwards an octopus) can regrow their limbs so Squidward has an unlimited food supply literally attached to himself rather than a lone burger.

An addiction is an addiction. And as a functional addict, this episode highlights what can happen when you cross the fine line. There are worse things than death and addiction to a substance (or anything really) can easily put you there.

Squidward probably went the wrong direction to get to the Krusty Krab to make sure he wasn't followed.

This is the very first episode that has made me want a krabby patty more than any of them. I remember being a kid and begging my mom for one, but of course they didn't actually exist. It just makes them look so appetizing and the scene where Squidward just eats a bunch in the patty vault is so satisfying to watch.

I wonder why he didn’t talk about the deleted scene of Squidward being blown up twice

Theres no continuity issue with Squidward taking the wrong way. If you were trying to sneak to the Krabby patty, why would you want to take the chance of SpongeBob seeing you go that direction? If there was a chance, you'd want him to think you were just out on a walk or something, so going the wrong direction would be the right choice.

They needed the visual gag of him tiptoeing past SpongeBob's house after bursting out of his house in panic. That's it.

a Krabby Patty might actually be healthier than your typical burger as it seems to be vegetarian, with the patty itself being made of red algae (something that's an actual real thing btw)

I think the reason squidward didn't want to eat a krabby patty is because he doesn't want to eat fast food considering there are lots of people who think fast food is unhealthy or maybe squidward doesn't think krabby Patty's are fancy enough for him considering the imported cheese from the Patrick getting a nose episode,the Swedish barnacle balls from camping episode,and obcurse there's all that stuff we saw him have in the pearl growing episode

Me and my brother literally quote “i have no soul” to this day😂 😂 you’re absolutely right friend, the early seasons always brings me a feeling of nostalgia and being at my grandmas house on the weekends. Im 34 now and i wouldnt trade that feeling for anything. I really hope you do more old school cartoons, like angry beavers, aaah real monsters and the like. Didn't this episode also have a deleted scene that got taken out of future airings? The scene involved Squidward getting in to the Krusty Krab through the front entrance & he finds out that the restaurant's security system is a bucket of water. However, a few moments later, Squidward realizes that it isn't water but gasoline & a robotic arm appears with a lit match; lighting the gasoline & causing a fiery explosion. Squidward manages to make it to the kitchen (having received a few burns from the explosion) when a second robotic arm with another lit match appears & causes another fiery explosion. The deleted scene then picks up with the rest of the episode with Squidward getting to the Patty Vault.

​​​@@tryhardheavy the episode aired about 3 weeks after 9/11, I read that the explosions hit a little close to home for some American viewers so it was removed. I watched it on TV before they removed the scene, and was very confused when it was suddenly missing

Squiddy's love for Krabby Patties reminds me of one of those kids whom don't eat sweets but then go ham after eating sweets.

This episode was always one of my favorites as a kid. Especially with Squidward blowing up.

Anyone whos ever seriously struggled with addiction can relate to "all the wasted years". Thats exactly how it feels your first time. Like you havent really actually lived until that moment.

Definitely my FAVORITE episode of S3, Squidwrard acting so crazy while always being the one who's so monotone and bored is an amazing idea and they do it in a really funny way

When we were kids my cousin and I laughed so hard at Squidward's maniacal running! 🤣

I find Squidward's addiction very relatable to when I get binging episodes. It's just such a compulsion. I've improved and barely get them now, but I surely used to get them a lot before, which led to me gaining a lot of weight.

There was a deleted scene where Squidward knocked over a bucket of gas.

You could argue that Squidward going the wrong way is another nod in the addiction metaphor. Addicts are so focused on getting their next fix that they don't really have a concept of the world around them as a whole. And Squidward going the wrong way could have been a nod to the fact that he's so hyperfocused on getting a Krabby Patty, that he doesn't even notice he's going in the complete opposite direction

I remember rewatching this & when i heard squid say "then in kff the stuff for good" thats when i realized how literal they are comparing this to a drug addiction. Also the title. But the way he says "off the stuff" was very ...interestign choice of words

I always loved the Squidward Krabby Patty addiction episode, it was such a wholesome and funny episode.

In another episode, the one where the old fry cook returns and SpongeBob gets jealous of him, SpongeBob tries the old cook’s patty and literally gets sent on a trip where he floats with krabby Patties and when he finally comes to, his expression is purely euphoric. I think Mr krabs secret recipe, a pinch of Poseidon’s powder is an analogy for cocaine

Thank you for pointing out the way they went to the Krusty Krab! I've noticed that for a while. They run the wrong way in another episode too, I think it was when they were racing to the Krusty Krab in the "Employee of the Month" episode, but I could be misremembering. It's such a small detail, but it really does stick with you when you watch the episodes a lot. This episode's great, and awesome video!

This is one of the gems of Spongebob with the classic meme faces. It's a great story too as Squidward doesn't get screwed over in this one. I would ALMOST say he may have won this episode (except exploding but that's just a metaphor for getting sick from overeating). It has the addiction side (& peer pressure) but then shows that sometimes going out of your comfort zone can be life changing (good or bad).

I don't know this guy, but he seems so sweet and he deserves more and more fans oml I wish this guy a well deserved career :D

I think the main reason Squidward didn't even want to try a krabby patty is that he works there so he is smelling it to a point it can feel unappealing, like people that work at Mc Donalds in my country at least are always ordering food because even that they get free burgers they can't stand it because they were around the smell for too long

This episode always made me hungry! Like heffer at chokie chkn or the eating contest ep of hey arnold or Doug dieting for the pool party! 😋🤣 we can blame 90s nick for our bellies😂
