Pistons had 19 total blocks this game compared to 23 made baskets. 5 from Sheed, 4 from Big Ben and Prince. The defense was on another level. And Rip Hamilton was a beast this monster

The best part of the block is the Pacer fan at the bottom of the screen who is cheering before Miller even goes up for the layup. He was literally courtside and thought Prince had not shot. Watching it in slow mo @4:48 is even better

I watched this whole series. It was basically a game of football. After 2004 the NBA started changing rules to crackdown on physical defense. Which greatly benefitted guards and led to Steve Nash winning back-to-back MVPs.

These two teams were great defensively, but for the most part offenses were just bad. Guys couldn't shoot, pace was way too slow.

​@Keenan Norris because look at how physical the defense in this game. Being physical on an offensive player literally drains the offensive player from doing anything. Jumping, running through screens, dribbling, and creating space. Look at KD in the Boston series in 2022. The refs in that series actually allowed defense to be a bit more physical (not to the extent of this game). You saw how much it affected KD's scoring and how he struggled to create space.

72-67 is roughly like int'l basketball game (with 10 minutes quarters). With the today's NBA you need only 8 minute-, even 6-minute, quarters.

Wow, can't we just talk about the video quality? HD broadcast in 2004? I wish we get more of these NBA endings in HD format, like D FIsh's game winning shot against the Spurs.

Pacers Pistons was a WAR in the mid 2000s! Last of a dying breed of defensive series

It's sort of a weird flash back seeing that not every possession starts off with a ball screen. And the paint is so packed. Nowadays if you keep you defense compressed, they'll bomb you with 3's. I've been watching since the late 80s. I'm still debating if the 3 point line, as is, is a good thing or not.

These videos are the best on KZread and I forgot about some of these games or didn't watch it Live. Keep them coming.

This is so much more enjoyable to watch than guys jacking up tons of threes, most of which are barely contested. If I wanted to watch guys score easy baskets I would watch practice. Stifiling defense is so much more fun to witness.

People forget how good the Pistons were from 2003-2008. They made the conf finals or better in all of those years, won a championship and lost a heartbreaking Game 7 finals in 2005. That close to back-to-back. They were a fantastic team.

Lebron started doing that block attempt after seeing Tayshaun do it here. That was the best block in nba history and basically won that series, can’t go down 0-2 to that Pacer team.

Looking back, this team was stacked. Every starter was tall with long arms and can shoot. Besides Bes Wallace. And play defense. They were ahead of the times.

Wow. Tayshaun's block is in the top 3 NBA history IMO I may be biased though as this was my favorite Pistons team. A heart and soul group made up of a bunch of 'castoffs' from other teams. They should've repeated, if only they drafted Melo.

melo would have been SF and just pushed Tayshaun out and Tayshaun was more important to the team than Melo ever would have been.

2004 college senior year, me and the guys had a private court we'd go to and play pickup once or twice a week after class. Probably a couple months before this really happened so probably January or February, I did the exact same Tayshaun block to someone who played on the varsity team and saved the ball from going out of bounds. He had caught the ball in the paint, takes 1 or 2 steps for a wide open layup and I'm coming full speed from half court behind him and block it, ran over to the sideline and save it from going out of bounds. After the play was over he came up to me and said great hustle or something to that effect. Without question it would lead my very short highlight reel of everything I ever did in 🏀

I'll never forget this one! Gritty defense from both teams!

Great defense forces bad misses and uncharacteristic errors. Last night we saw the Heat score 52 points after the 3rd quarter and a lot of it was due to great team defense by the Celtics.
