Refusing To Play Transgender Opponent: Women's Pool Player Speaks Out

The world of professional sports is no stranger to controversies, and the latest one brewing in the world of pool is causing quite a stir. The issue at hand involves the inclusion of transgender and non-binary players in female pool competitions, leading to a debate between gender inclusivity and fairness in sports. Jo Hobday, a seasoned pool player and England Ladies B1 captain, sheds light on the contentious topic and shares her perspective on the matter.
Jo Hobday has been playing pool since the age of nine and has risen through the ranks to become a prominent figure in the pool community. Having played at local, county, and national levels, Jo has a deep understanding of the intricacies of the sport and the importance of a level playing field for all competitors.
The recent legal action taken by Harriet Haynes against the English Blackball Pool Federation (EBPF) has sparked a conversation about the guidelines set forth by the UK sports guidance for gender inclusion in sports.

It's simply mysoginy 2.0

Its a women's competition. Let the person prove their gender by presenting DNA results. Anything else is window dressing. I muttered '' guess we still have a game''. So, I really concentrated, I won, his jaw dropped, boy! the look on his face! and his friend. It is always the biological women who are disadvantaged as trans-women use their male traits to win at all costs. Funny how trans-women don't want to compete against trans and non-binary competitors. You deserve much applause for your stand as difficult and insulting as the situation is, you have shown what a true sports woman you are. It is not being transphobic standing up for yourself and for Women's Pool regardless of the weak argument they present. There isn't. It isn't like basket ball. Ask yourself do pool and snooker players seem super tall or super strong? The differences are mostly social ones. Men have a lot more opportunities to play. Because of this it means that more men actually do play. So the best is from a larger pool of players, which in turn means that they are really very good. Conversely because no where near as many women play, they really do not have to be very good. Female leagues and competitions exist as a way to fix the balance, and encourage more women to play, therefore growing the pool of players.

  • @Drew-Dastardly

I would say there is a physical advantage but also very much a brain and sight advantage. It is an absolute fact that on average males are more spatially aware than females. This is just because of evolution and the roles of men and women for 100,000's of years vs the last 5 years of insanity. Men tend to have a logical and strategy advantage too which is important in games like snooker and pool (because of hunting). It's like chess. There is no physical advantage at all in that game, but we have female chess tournaments because even the most middling female chess player would absolutely wipe me (as a man) off the board in 3 minutes, but they are no match at all for any for the male Grandmasters.

I mentioned basketball, as did the video. If you live in USA and are 7ft tall then your chances of becoming a professional basket ball player are 1 in 7, which is a phenomenal advantage. But I play pool, I have played against people of all shapes and sizes, it is not like basketball and I have beat tall people and been beaten by short fatties with stubby fingers. In fact when you watch pro pool, most of them are short fatties lol. And let's not even talk of the invasion of excellent players from that well known giant producing country of China where everyone is tall. I think some people should stop believing things because they saw someone say it on a video and actually start using their own eyes about what they actually see around them. The women standing up to this madness are heroics. But it is tragic that they need to do it in the first place.

You're a real woman madam, and a true warrior! I so wish I could shake your hand! Far more people need to be like you, both women and the cowardly men who also stay silent for fear of labels/backlash. This cult is far more dangerous to the plight of women than men have ever been.

there are other sports with an open division and a female division rather than male and female, solves all the issues but we know they won't go for that, it is all about fairness, we have the Paralympics with literally dozens of categories to ensure fairness, we have boxers weighing in naked to show they aren't a few ounces over, athletes tested for over the counter nasal sprays that might give an advantage

I don't understand the point of separation if it's not honored if you have leagues based on gender its pretty unfair to let dudes with an identity issue be there because they feel it'd be easier personally I've played lots of decent male and female players I've never felt there was too much of an advantage on my side as its skill based and really ok yea guys have stronger breaks but I don't automatically win games because it's a girl playing against me Both my parents played competitively and I still have trouble against either of them totally agree with her stance on the issue though and it sucks to be forced to forfeit

As a male I only ever played pool in bars and with many women at a casual level and enjoyed it. I would often win despite being inebriated as we all were. It's good fun. Same with darts. However I would never join a women's even amateur level darts or pool team simply because the entry requirements bar me and I do not understand how any man other than a pervert wants to invade women's sports.

Without going too deep into it, some of the men who want to be women are resentful of real women which is why they can't just leave the women alone. It's a form of mysogyny.

Sports should just be male (XY) and female (XX) division. A lot of transgender women say “we just want to play!” But if they are asked to compete in their biological gender, they complain…
