I often shopped at ‘Pet’s at Home’ but no more. There are other pet shops so I will use those instead. If I went into any shop and a member of staff told me their pronouns, I would leave immediately, purchasing nothing. The shareholders of this company should castigate the management for this absurdity before they lose money.

I got my rats from Pets at Home. I made the mistake of giving them multicoloured cotton balls as bedding. I came home one day to find they had woven it into a large Pride flag that they had hung up in their cage. Even the animals are being brainwashed and indoctrinated by this company.

I worked there and got bullied out by one of the stuck up staff. It ruins it for itself not just because of this but they ignored dead fish, the ceiling had holes in it and everyday youd come in there would be puddles all over the isles so big people couldnt walk through them, it ruined the products and could have quite easily collapsed and killed the customers, animals and workers. They work with cleaning company's that refuse to actually allow the worker for holiday despite legally needing to allow that.

Pets at Home are in breach of UK workplace laws. Toilets must be designated as male OR female unless they are a private locked bathroom that exits into a public space, such as a toilet for the disabled.

I have a friend (maybe not now!) who won’t speak to me as I pushed back to one of his friend’s (a white American woman) telling me “you have white privilege because black people were enslaved”. We are the UK - critical race theory is a theory based on USA history not UK! I replied that I didn’t enslave anyone, that no one who we were out with socially had, and that no one here had been enslaved. And that people from all races have been enslaved, including white people. And that black people, if we are going to focus on their slavery only, that black people were enslaved by black people that it wasn’t just white people who were slave owners. And that if we are going to focus on slavery/reparations, let’s focus on modern day slavery. Well, afterwards I got told by him “you dismissed black slavery” - I’m now cancelled and supposedly some terrible person. The only person who was black, present at that social, didn’t appear to take offence as she went out with me a week later!

This actually happened to me a few weeks ago. In a Morrisons petrol station, stocky bearded man behind the counter, I paid for my petrol with a "thanks mate", he immediately snapped back "I actually identify as female, as you can clearly see!" - pointing to a name badge that read "Tracy". I was completely caught off guard, not quite sure what to say, until my 12 year old daughter stepped up for me with a "But 'Mate' isn't a gender." A few hushed sniggers from the queue of other customers, and we left, shaking our heads in disbelief. No doubt I'll be reported for some sort of hate crime now. But yeah, it's getting absolutely ridiculous.

Well said. The one thing I would disagree on is 3 bathrooms. Just need 2: male and female. I'm going to go our on a limb based on what we've seen already in prisons that allowed the mixing etc, a trans bathroom - however well intentioned - is going to facilitate and encourage shall we say, less than wholesome behaviour. Mixing biological females and a tiny amount of biological males identifying as female is going to have dire consequences. Lessons are never learned.

My mother spends a lot of money with Pets At Home and with it comes a membership card which gives you discount on certain items if you spend so much . Everytime i go there the staff are great ,friendly and helpful , i had no idea they have been subjected to this dillusional ideaology and are suffering in silence . The problem with boycotting this company is that it's the staff on the frontline that will lose their jobs as a result ,so it's very difficult to get companies to sweep this nonsense under the carpet i don't know what the solution is to get rid of this ,it's such a shame .

It's made even more ridiculous by the fact neither person will use the others pronouns in a direct conversation: "Hi im Mary, she/her, can I help you today?" "Yeah I'm looking for cat food", "its at the back on the left" "thank you". Why does the customer need to be told what the employees pronouns are when 1. you can tell by looking at someone, and 2. you will very rarely even use them. It's insane!

I've heard people on TV refer to someone as a "female actor" and I wanted to scream at them, "That's why we invented the word actress! You just said two words when you could have used one!"

I am a teacher of 25 years in Canada and my school board asks if you are trans, two spirited, gay, lesbian, queer, black, brown, Asian, white, prefer not to say, just to get a teaching job for the year. This question was NOT on there five years ago. I was a full-time teacher and left to teach casually. This is why I not longer apply for jobs, only teach the minimum number of days I need to (25 days) to keep a job, and will most likely leave the profession all together. I’m done.

My workplace also mandates certain courses, normally sensible ones such as health and safety refreshers. The most recent one though being DEI, which I am flat out refusing to do.

My identity is my business, I don't tell people my date of birth or my postcode or my passport number unless there is a very good reason for it.The only time I am asked for my gender is when I am applying for a job, I just tick "prefer not to say". Why are so many people going on about "struggling with identity" when most of us just struggle to keep our identity as private as possible so it is not stolen !

Think pets at home should be concentrating more on animal welfare for the pets they actually sell. Fish tanks , cages for sale etc are far too small for the animals & even worse they happily sell a pet rat to live on its own . This is well known to be cruel as they NEED to be with at least 1 more rat , ideally more. Don’t understand how / why they have not been investigated by the RSPCA

I've had to get help to get back into work after losing my job in the NHS, I believe due to a bad and spiteful manager. When I saw something on an application form for a job that asked what my pronouns are, I just gestured frustration at the question and I was told by one person helping me "I think you just need to suck it up". At work I welcome any suggestion or change that improves my productivity but not anything that makes my day unnecessarily complicated, and I don't see how that helps me in my day. I'm autistic and suffering from burnout and memory failure, I can barely remember names and faces so I'll never be able to remember different pronouns for each person I meet.

I don't have any problem with people doing that if they want to, but it is like when I would have my own ways of communicating with friends, our own greetings and such like, we kept it in our group. We didn't think we could force the whole world to greet us that way. I behave how I was taught. That will be the same until I die. Fair enough if the next generation wants to change things they can do so, or if only some do, they can thrash it out between them, but you can't force any new ideal on previous generations. It is nonsensical to think they should. I don't care how anyone refers to me as long as it is respectful and accurate, so I don't have a preference anyway. If they ask for a preferred pronoun, then there isn't one, so I can't answer that question.

I applied for the position of Team Leader somewhere recently and on their application form they asked two very telling questions; what is my sexuality and do I identify as trans. That’s got nothing to do with my job role.

The last thing our Government should do or needs to do. The Government should change the law so that anyone being fired for disagreement with woke nonsense is able to sue whoever is foisting that nonsense. Not necessarily the employer.

​@emmabrooker166 Interesting, however it says that the ruling doesn't cover mis-gendering with impunity. I would argue I wasn't misgendering, and really should we be criminalised for using words, seems crazy.

I work at a University and its rife with this. Pride week is ridiculous. And if you say anything against it you get a black mark against your name. I'm not transphobic but it's quite hard to deal with it at times as a straight man as its rammed down your throat constantly.

My daughter used to work for them, she would have been sacked in the first half hour of this nonsense 🤣🤣🤣

I was recently asked, in a call with a call centre, what my pronouns were. I told them to fuck off and hung up.

My husband is a contractor, and each and every company he starts work at, he has to go through rigorous diversity training. He HATES it. He agrees with it to be able to start the job but doesn’t believe or agree with any of it.

As a 'non-binary' person, you are correct. Gender exists on a spectrum. Male on one end, female on the other, with a grey area in-between. You either identify as male, female, a bit of both, or neither. Either way... there's two genders. Need any more education?

You're confused because some people deliberately conflate sex and gender. Gender is grammatical: in English grammar, we divide our nouns into three types, "male", "female" and "neuter" ( he, she, and it). Grammatical gender is NOT the same as sex, you can quite happily refer to a ship as 'she', for instance. SEX depends on the 'sex' chromosomes you are born with, "pair" 23. A "pair" of XX, you are female. A "pair" of XY, you are male. Sadly, there are individuals for whom that does not apply.

Why do we need to know the gender of the person serving us anyway, we're not out to "make new friends", we just want to buy stuff. If a shop assistant goes out of their way to tell me their pronouns, I will tell them to stuff the goods up their backside (As we all know, no matter what the gender...we all have one of those).

You do not have to worry about offending anyone or being accused as a bigot or homophobe if you buy online and use smaller owner operator shops instead of using the larger corporations' stores.

Simple, don’t patronise Pets At Home unless you are trans. The shops will be near empty as there are not enough trans pet owners to keep it in business. Bud Light is a fine example of how people believe in this. They don’t.

Well I for one Will No Longer be using this Store for my 2 Cats or their Vets. enjoy losing £1200 pa. I would suggest others should do as I DO and Boycott Pets at Home.

I could not work for a company like this and if I did I would be starting the job search process. At a time when the UK has a major productivity problem I am not sure if this is the best way for corporations to behave towards employees especially as the cost of hiring new employees is a significant cost.

I've got stickers and I'm gonna stick them around the shop - Transwomen are men, adult human female, etc.

Is it against a persons human rights to be coerced into an ideology they don’t believe when they have got a job in a pet shop? Perhaps staff need to join forces and go after these organisations legally?
