Red Wing SHOES Get a New Look
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This pair of Red Wing shoes was mailed to us for repair. The crepe soles on these shoes were worn out and in need of a change. After a complete resole and some thorough conditioning, this pair of Red Wing shoes is good to go. Time for another restoration!

I’d like to see a shop review and description of all your shop machines, how old they are, where you got them from and how you keep them in working condition. Also maybe some machines you want/need or want to upgrade. Maybe a collaboration with Jimmy Diresta?

I don't know about the collaboration since the interest is in Potter & Sons. I'd love the workshop and machines tour. Some of the machines are amazing. I remember Heath trained with an old guy who sold him his old workshop stuff. I may have misremembered so an update would be great.

Wow! What a transformation. Brilliant.
I don’t know why, but when you spread the cork and then heat it is one of my favorite things you do. Maybe I’m just a weird Californian or something.

U guys are incredible!! Keeping alive such a fine craft!!!!!❤
Guys, I sure wish I knew about you years ago. In 1974, I went on a family trip to Pennsylvania dutch where I bought a pair of black harness boots
I have owned a pair of these shoes for several years now and wear them almost daily. Absolutely love them! I really like the look of the new soles you put on them.
Great job gentlemen. I am really liking the way you are making these new videos. Have a great and safe weekend.

I noticed the piece of leather on the edge of the cutting blade on the 5in1 - that’s brilliant. I’m gonna do that to mine as well to keep the upper from contacting the blade.
I think that watching hot cork being applied to shoes is hypnotic and therapeutic! Thanks!

Wow, those are some really nice shoes!
I’ve never seen a pair of shoes or boots that y’all couldn’t make look brand new! Your craftsmanship is absolutely amazing! If you find a pair of shoes or boots that are comfortable it’s like loosing a good friend when you have to throw them away. I love the idea of taking some really used up shoes and boots and working on them to bring them back to life. Thank y’all for sharing your artistry with all of us!
Nice job on the RedWings! One of my favorite brands...
They look great. I was a bit surprised you didn't add a shank as they now have a heel and the arch is not supported by the wedge shape of the original sole?

There are hard arch supports one can buy to take care of that issue.
I had the suede version of this shoe. Was one of the most comfortable shoes I ever had even compared to sneakers.
Those turned out great. I really like the rugged leather in derby form. Currently searching for a used pair to get resolved lol.

I'm guessing that there have been more than one pair of shoes/boots that did not turn out like you expected because they were further gone than even you could save them. Any chances we will ever see a video on some of these? A lot of learning goes on by watching the mistakes others make or when things just don't go as planned. Thanks as always for taking us all along on this journey.

Personally i doubt it. It looks like most of their clients are loaded or have money to burn. And im sure tons of people cancel the work when they realize they are being called for more money to fix the shoe than initially discussed. Because i doubt they lock in the price that was first discussed and eat the risk.
@alierem4266

. With due respect, prices of sole, heel and any other material used is already known to ths repairer. If some unknown / unforseen extra is needed to be done --which was not apparent at time of presenting for repair-- hence could not ve quoted in initial quote stage, then itvis reasonable that say, 10-15% extra would be additional cost.
I am not sure why...... But I love this channel. I just love watching y'all work, you are so talented. I even purchased some flip flops from southern polished. You hear people say this, but you have to see them to believe them. May God bless both of you, your families, and your businesses.

I love the work you did on my Chippewa boots, but I like seeing shoes as well. I like the idea of you doing shoes that are in especially bad condition. I have a pair of leather clogs that are in terrible shape that I’d love to see you do, but even if you don’t pick my shoes, I like the video idea. But, then again, I like pretty much everything you do.
I was looking up redwing derbies and considering buying them. Suddenly wonderful resole video pops out. Now I am want them more, beat them up, and get them resoled by you guys!

After watching you and Stridewise I have too many boots and shoes for them to wearing down! I have a pair of Helm boots from their earlier days right when they started making them in Maine by Rancourt. They have a white rubber midsole as their signature look and the heels and toes are starting to wear into it.
I wore these pots until there were holes in both soles. The shoemaker I brought to our on half soles that eventually leaked. Even with the questionably sole repair, I STILL wore them until the uppers developed holes where they flexed. Nothing better than a good pair of boots
Not sure why, but boot videos are more interesting to watch. Either way though, they are all nice to see. I like when the videos are either sounds of the shop and the work, or like brian the bootmaker does and have acoustic guitar playing. I have an anxiety disorder, and these videos are calming for some reason
Boots a n d shoes, keep up the excellent work! I've got a pair of Danners in need of new Christy wedges and a pair of derby dress casuals I'd love a double stacked leather sole on.
Excellent

Excellent job, very nice result. I think those shoes looked odd with the original sole, they definitely look better with the style you put on.
-Awesome awesome video as always guys!!!! - I knew when I saw that Dainite come out quality and durability was in play👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 -One of the most if not the most durable soles to protect any investment of footwear, especially with your expertise 👍🏼✨

Love your videos guys. I have an older (late 80s I think) pair of Hanover wingtip bluchers that I am fairly sure are cordovan. They are not in terrible condition and at first glance don’t look destroyed but need some attention so I wasn’t sure I wanted to make the commitment. There is some sentimental value in these but on the downside they need a full resole (they have been half soled) and I didn’t know how to take care of the cordovan as opposed to calfskin leather so hopefully the uppers aren’t beyond repair. One other issue is that they aren’t that comfortable compared to my other dress shoes probably because my feet have aged lol-I wear Allen Edmonds to work most days and do fine with those. I would be interested in investing a little money into these but not sure that the amount that could replace them with new Allen Edmonds would be worth it to me unless they could become way more comfortable and there was something really neat about them as far as American dress shoe heritage goes. (Sorry for the really long run-on sentence). What do you guys think? Keep up the good work!!
Thrifted a pair of Florshein Imperials for my husband. The shoes still have their well loved original soles. I have been saving up to have them restored with all the nails. Hammer time?
These look great. Wish Redwing still sold those with these soles you guys put on them they look great.

I have a few pairs of shoes I should definitely send.
Just last week I was telling the guys I work with about your channel. I opened up my trunk...and pulled out my cordovan number 8, 1000 milers....they are totally trashed and I thought...."man I might send these to them so they can show everybody what they can do for great boots like these." I'll send you a pic. That is strange timing. Awesome shoes and video. Cheers
That’s Fire!
Thanks to watching your videos I now have a new hobby. I now check every thrift store looking for a pair of shoes worth sending in to be resoled and me ending up with a real piece of nashville.
Great video! I’ll be sending my Florsheim chukka boots to you next week. I also noticed your work bench for the first time. It looks like you guys take as much care of wood as you do with leather.

It's a wonderful what You are guys doing. Not just reparations of shoes/boots but repairing overal is not just about saving money and keeping our comfort. It's a great help to keep lower consumpiton. It can be seen as greener way of living. Buy high quality stuff made of natural materials, from people that are well paid. By my opinion it realy metters, it's making difference. If I could tell everybody one thing it's: don't trow what can be saved, because the longer you can use it the cheaper the thing is and less junk is made. It's better to support smaller and fair producers, then buying cheap sh** from … let's say east :). Even if you invest to reparation from time to time it's worth. As always, there are borders what it reasonable and what isn't but, be clever and do good things it will return :). Thumbs up
ALL craftsmanship is honorable!

"Let's get some new oatmeal in here"...reality is, you have to give your audience what they want. New cork is mandatory! Not sure what is so satisfying about that stuff, but the masses have spoken. A close second for me is the hand crank sole trimmer. The sound is pure magic to the ears.
