Origin Boot Review - Origin boots have made a big splash in the boot market with a little help from the joe rogan podcast and Jocko Willink but also by allegedly being one of the best boots made in the US. Origin boots are not made in the way most brands claim to have boots made in the USA, origin sources the vast magority of its materials and components from the american supply chain. So they sent us a pair to cut in half to see what's inside Joe Rogan favorite boot and how much of this boot is made in the USA.

To me this is so refreshing to see it’s possible to source all of the raw materials in the USA. Soo many brands tell us as consumers it’s impossible because of A B C reasons. This dedication from Origin sticks a finger directly in the industry’s eye ! Good on them and I truly hope they can maintain success with this business model.

Most of it is out of greed. Companies don’t want to lose out on the profits they’re making by using cheap labor. They can easily make it here just don’t want to. We need to bring back more American manufacturing especially in a time where people are looking for jobs

It is simply not feasible for a lot of companies to do this. It’s very possible for almost any company to have their product made in the US but to have the entire process from sourcing to a finished product happen in the US would leave many companies hung out to dry. A company that doesn’t already do this would have to start with a new business model from scratch just to manufacture a boot this way and sell it for a profit. Completely different animal from outsourcing materials and making the product in the US, which I do think more companies should do and can do.

Good effort by Origin. I wouldn't be too upset about the veg tan leather. The best veg tan is made with tree bark, e.g. oak or kebracho. It makes sense to make it close to the source rather than import the tanning materials. It is also good foreign policy to support an artisan's skill in a region that has a long history in that trade.

I’m a Canadian. This video and product is awesome. I love to see any people be able to produce a start to finish product in their own country, region, and/or locality. It’s great to see a “Made in the USA” story. It’s a good thing for your people, your place, and a GREAT thing for the environment to build things that are near where they will be used. Local manufacturing and sourcing prevents excessive shipping of products. THIS is what would actually create more efficient global energy use, not counter-productive carbon taxes and other punishing restrictions that unnecessarily offshore production. It also makes for more resilient, sustainable, and efficient supply chains. Trade is great, but close to home production is far superior in efficiency, and necessary for a healthy world. It should be a thing that entrepreneurs and environmental stewards should be able to agree on.

Since I've found this channel, I discovered and ordered a pair of Solovair's as a dress boot, which are quite comfortable when I do business in town. And, because of this channel I bought a pair of Georgia Romeo boots from Coastal for my daily work on the farm. I wish I had heard about Origin before I bought the Solovair's.... I had never heard of these boots before seeing the video. I have been in the market for a new pair of boots and was considering another pair of Red Wings which I have been wearing for the past 10 years. I decided to take a chance on these and I am not disappointed at all. I got them a few days ago and they are incredibly comfortable for a new pair of boots. While they're too new to give a real "review", my initial opinion of this boot is very high. I bought the Coronado with the big lug sole. I won't be wearing these for work but for most everything else. I'm a heavy duty truck mechanic and really need steel toes and my current daily work boot is the Red Wing Supersede 2.0. Thanks for all the reviews as it gives us really solid information when shopping for new footwear.

@PATRICK HANDYSIDE the boots for me did take a couple weeks to break in but honestly every one is dif with breaking in boots. I've personally heard of people soaking brand new boots out of the box and wearing them like that for a couple days, and some change the souls out immediately. But I digress, these weren't that bad to break in I got extra wide (EE) but that is what i get no natter what boot brand i get. The ankle area seamed not that bad when I wear taller socks. I've never personly worn Danner boots but the Origin boots were similar to the thorogoods for me as far as fitment. They have great customer service so if you have fitment questions they are very helpful. I had an issue with my first pair and the exchanged them within the week.

I'm from Lewiston, Maine. Interesting little town. It has one of the highest French speaking populations in the United States due to the massive amounts of French Canadians coming down to work in those exact mills. Some of those mills in Lewiston produced boots and uniforms for Union soldiers back in the day. My grandparents both worked in shoe factories their whole lives, but sadly, as companies shut down and production moves, most mills closed and have sat empty ever since. There are a couple well known shoemakers still around, such as Rancourt and Quoddy, though. So cool to see a story like this come out of a place like Lewiston. There are tons of secrets and stories hidden in those mills, and its amazing to see what can come from that. Maybe Northern New England bootmakers are on the rise!

The AR8s in terms of how it’s constructed is very similar to the Razorbacks. Biggest upside to Jim Green’s boots (I have been eyeing the AR8s myself after enjoying the Razorbacks as my work boots for 2 years) is the AR8 if you buy a pair a pair is then donated to the South African Park Rangers. So far the reviews I have seen the of AR8 have been very positive for a good durable sub $200 boot. I would say with a nice insole they would be amazingly comfortable. For the record the Razorbacks have held up really well for me and based on the wear of the sole I’m looking at easily ten years before resoleing.

@@IGmeanwell I've had Razorbacks for about a year, and I like them a lot. I don't doubt that the footbed is very similar to the Razorbacks but the uppers on the AR8's are way different. Over 40 years ago while serving in the 2/75 I had a platoon sergeant teach me how to spell "assume." I never forgot it. Which is why I'd like to see what the insides look like. I’ve had my pair of Origin boots for almost two years now and they are still running strong! I have a bit of a weird foot and have to do a very wide shoe but lacing up really tight usually laces go really quickly but they are still holding strong with no issues. Interesting about the shank, I hadn’t really thought about it because I do more carpentry work so not on a ladder very often, but these boots have been incredibly comfortable to me. In a pinch I’ve got hiking with them on trails instead of my other hiking boots and they still hold up great. Good traction and grip with very minimal slipping. All in all I’ve really enjoyed their product, but anyone else who has purchased their boot knows how long the wait can be, especially when they first came out. Seeing it cut in half was a tad heartbreaking 😂

I get heel rub when I walk or run. 2. The boots are WIDE on the inside. They are a D width and I have a D foot, but i can press in several places and I do mot touch my foot. As a result, my foot tends to slide left to right and since the toe box is so small (has a toe cap) my toes catch my movement and I come home limping some days.

My great grandfather on my mom’s side ( I can’t remember if it’s the Leach or Wicker side) used to make the manuals for using and repairing the looms and other equipment in the mills around North Carolina. He was even the basis for a book written about life in his time. Called “About a Boy”. I found a copy of it in the archives of UNC Chapel Hill and printed up and bound a copy for my mom. It’s not an easy read, it was written in the style of the way people spoke in the area. Like how Mark Twain would write. Lots of weird spellings and words broken up with apostrophes.

I got one of the first pairs of the Built Work boot. I've had them since January 2022. They are holding up fine. As expected. I wore Danner Rain Forest boots for 2 years previous to these. The Origins took just as long to break in (if not longer?). My feet were dying for about 2 weeks. I couldn't even get through the fist few 12hr shifts. I had to switch back to my old boots by lunch time. I also wish I got 1 size wider. I'm on the fence between normal and wide width. So if you are as well definitely get the next size wider. Shoes size is true. So if your a 13. Get a 13. They are comfortable. However. I think if you wear any boot for 12 to 16hrs a day there is no boot out there that's going to be like super A+ . I still have the original insoles, but will be switching them out soon. These boots have been exposed to ladders, chemicals, oil, hot pipe racks you name it. I walk at least a mile a shift in them as well. I clean my boots often. They should have no problem holding up for at least another year. I will pocket the $250 boot allowance for next year's alloted pair, or put them towards a nice pair of Whites boots. Always been curious about those.
