Hello and welcome to our channel! We're Trenton and Heath. We are brothers and business partners in two businesses (Potter & Sons Shoe Artisans) and (Southern Polished).
We created this channel to share helpful and entertaining videos about one of our favorite topics...SHOES. As two guys that have been in the shoe industry for a while now, we have a lot of insight on this topic. Along with our dad, we are both shoe cobblers in our shop. We have polished and repaired THOUSANDS of shoes, and we hope to use this channel to share our thoughts on which brands of shoes are best, how to polish your shoes, when to have your shoes repaired, how to repair shoes...and much, much more.
We're currently based in Nashville, Tennessee. We're always down to connect and answer any questions you may have. Feel free to reach out on social media, and if you'd like to reach out to us for business purposes, please contact us at [email protected].

good video thanks
You know Prada sponsored some activities of Communist Party in Italy and donated to PCI. So, I have respect for Prada for this. But honestly their shoes are crap :) Or maybe this is a way to take it back what they steal from parasitic capitalists, bourgeoisie.
I have a friend who spends a lot on designer shoes (ysl, prada abd gucci mostly). And when i point how absurdly it is what he is paying (i too spend a lot on shoes, but classic british) and he simply doesn't care. It's like he sees that as inherent, 'the way it is...The way they are made...' what's even more bizarre, he comes from a family of cobblers.
something about watching true craftsmen work is so mesmerizing
Content idea: demonstrate how the quality of designer brands, like To Boot New York by Adam Derrick, can widely vary because they get their shoes from different factories. Old To Boot’s were made by much higher quality makers, like Gravati, with very nice leather, soles, and excellent construction. Most of the stuff today is crap. Ferragamo has 3 different lines (all overpriced) but the quality varies a lot.
I have a 20 year old pair of to boot dress Chelsea boots with really nice leather that can be used as an example. A bad cobbler replaced the Blake sole years ago with a glued on leather half sole that made the shoes unwearable. I’ve held on to them for over a decade because they still look so nice and I hate the idea of throwing them out
Also might be because I wore them at my wedding, or at least that’s the reason I tell my wife when she asks me why I haven’t thrown them out yet.
Perhaps you have done this already, I don't recall, but I would like to see your top 5 or 10 high-quality shoe favorites.
You're probably better off with a pair of Meermin's or any other €200 shoe.
How dare you put a Prada logo back in those shoes you rebuilt. Yep I'm having a laugh. You made them so much better than they were originally. They are still ugly, but at least they are proper shoes now.
I do not buy designer brands (Gucci, Boss, S. Oliver, Zegna, Bugatti etc.) as most of them do not have shoe factories of their own. So they farm out their production to various anonymous factories, so you never know what you're going to get. And of course the most money you spend is on the name of the designer.
"You should be ashamed of yourself." "Don't shame me." Brother love. LOL
Really nice video!! As a designer I am learning a lot thanks to this! Pretty sad to realise this about Prada shoes... I am wondering if it's still like thise today ? Also it could be really interesting to compare and see how Dior or Berluti formal shoes are made, I think it is the highest quality you could have from a designer brand... !! Let's see!
We’ve worked on Berluti’s before. Very nice quality shoes!
Nice work. I’d wear those if I could go back to the future, and walk down Hollywood Boulevard in the early 1980s, after midnight before dropping into the disco to get some!
Thank you for this. For so many years getting scammed.
I'm in the Forrest Fan Club!
With as many other business concerns as you guys have going on, how many hours per day/week do you actually spend working on shoes?
Normally like new ;) This is magic. Greetings from Poland from the city of Radomsko.
You can spend thousands on a suit, and it is still cloth and thread......just like a cheap suit😂😂😂😂😂
I feel like for the money boots should last at least 10 years. Especially for higher end boots, and if they don’t repair should be free.
How much does Prada pay for being a billboard for them to lure in more suckers to buy cheap shoes at a high price?
what are the most common mishaps that happen in a cobbler shop? what happens when youre skiving the sole and it slipped, slicing the adjacent material? what happens when youre trimming the burr from the drum sander and it slips, poking a hole or scratching the upper? Cheers gentlemen!
I totally expected them to be stitched after being glued. Y’all refer to stitching as an “upgrade” when shoes are only glued together. What was the deciding factor in not stitching the uppers to the lower? They would be too wide, wouldn’t they, so the stitches aren’t stepped on?
Oh I see as the blind man fondled his banana.
You both look tired, have a good night, take it easy.
Can't say I'm surprised. Too many times, you pay for the name and what you get just ain't worth it. People don't mind spending money if they at least get value for it--which didn't happen here.
No cork No Good
Always great to see you apply your craft. I also subscribe to your dad and really like his vids, but realized I haven’t seen anything new in a few months. I sure hope he’s ok.
Thanks so much! He’s doing fine. Thank you for asking. He decided to take a break from KZread for a while.
@@TrentonHeath thanks for letting me know! Let him know his subscribers are looking forward to his return.
I watched the video twice. Where was the segment with Forrest?
Are some Pradas higher quality?
That is one handsome dog. German short hair?
Glossy patent leather?
An attorney friend of mine has either these or very similar Prada shoes. I offered to renourish the leather and give them a proper polish and he agreed. So I took them home and got to work on them. I quickly noticed that the soles must be glued on. I was not impressed at all. I also was not overly impressed with the leather.
$1300 my foot.
Not being critical, only curious. Why don’t you wear eye protection when snip-clipping those nails?
No
So many times, we see with high priced clothing and footwear we get cheaply made items and all we are paying for is a name, your excellent work highlights this issue in this instance. Well done to you both.
I don't know much about shoes, but I love watching what you guys do. I've been learning a lot. Not having had the money to buy a 'great' pair, have you ever done a video with recommendations for different price points?
Soooo many crap items that cost waaaay too much. And, they are narrow toe crushers. I saw the $10 2nd hand store price. Good to ‘pay it forward’ and bless someone with new-ish shoes. Karma.
Great job, guys!
I hope you boys are wearing eye protection when nipping off those nail heads!
At 1:30 - Do you buy those sole pieces pre-cut like that in various sizes? If so what suppliers do you recommend I'm trying to track down some. Thanks
People who buy these type of shoes might have FU money. The shoes look great, I'm not sure if the average owner cares about longevity.
Those loafers look like they're from the 90's. Out of fashion.
I've been watching you guys when you were still in your last shop, but I have been wanting to send a pair of florsheim boots that I would like to get resoled, but never really know where to look even when I was on your website I didn't know what I had to do to send them in.
Send us an email to [email protected] and we can walk you through it. Thanks!
So, these are like Lucchese.. paying more for the name?
Only shoe I can wear without laces are flops.. Loafers fly off my feet
K mart quality Prada prices! Such a wast of your artisanal talents.
