Red Dwarf - How Queeg Is Holly
Ойын-сауық
If you've ever seen Red Dwarf, you may want to see the episode "Queeg". This clip will show you how the rogue backup computer Queeg 500 is, in fact, Holly pulling off a "jape of the decade" on the so-called "Boys From The Dwarf". Enjoy!

This episode is 27 minutes of pure set up of a joke but the punchline makes it all worth it

One of the dwarf's finest moments, sadly that kind of humour will never be seen on BBC tv ever again.
"Appreciate what you've got, because basically, I'm fantastic." I say that to my wife all the time.
The comedy timing of this reveal from 01:19 is UNIQUE. Can't think of an equivalent on TV. Queeg's face morphs into Holly's face without any sound effect. There is no surprise or "what?" reaction shot from the crew. Holly IMMEDIATELY says "We are talking jape of the decade" - but in such a deadpan way it barely registers. And only THEN is there a long pause, as the audience plays catch-up with what has just happened. It's an example of the Audience Laughter being built into the timing, and actually makes it better. We just stay on Holly for 20sec as he keeps going. Priceless.
Holly's all-time greatest moment. Cheers, Holl.
Imagine a worldwide global apocalypse occurs due to the actions of one seemingly evil person, and the world completely spirals into endless misery and brutality, and then the guy responsible just says to everyone one day "we are talking jape of the decade"
This was the best twist ever, jape of the decade indeed. Horsie to king bish 3!
Back in the 1990s I used to love to watch this show on Saturday night on PBS, This show was followed by Doctor Who. Those were the good old days, it is also probably the reason why my wife left me.

Even though this isn't the Series 2 finale episode, Holly saying goodbye sort of feels like Norman Lovett saying goodbye as he didn't return for Series 3. Though his leaving the show likely didn't come about til after Series 2 had finished as we last see Norman in "Parallel Universe" as though he was gonna be in the next series.
I remember that ending and thought that was one of the best Red Dwarf episodes ever. It totally threw me off the rails.
The joke about shoes havin souls just before this is great but so difficult to tell lol brilliant episode, best suprise ending ever

Their reaction when Holly reveals himself as Queen was hilariously priceless. I liked Chris, Craig and Danny's acting when they say goodbye to Norman. It was as if Norman was really leaving the show and Holly really was getting killed off. Chris sounded genuinely sad at 0:27 when he said "Thanks, Hol!". What a brilliant scene.

Holly was always the best they had. Think about it. If some higher computer can replace Hol, then why wouldn't it have kicked in when Dave woke up? Hol already calculated that Rimmer was the best option to keep him sane. And hell, it worked.

In the books, Holly wrestled with the fact that the ship could only support one hologram. All of Lister’s friends were drunks and layabouts so Lister would have just drunk himself to death, or gone crazy, he hated authority like the Captain, Kachansky left him, and that wouldn’t have worked, so he chose Rimmer - who thought he was officer material but completely unsuited to his ambitions, with Lister angry at Rimmer’s petty ideas and quoting starfleet regulations (all made up), but keeping him sane because Lister always enjoyed winding Rimmer up by his slovenly behaviour, lack of respect to authority and was, in Holly’s thinking, the least worst option to keep Lister psychologically sane in deep space with the crew all dead.
I absolutely loved this episode! Totally hilarious!
Love how Holly pretended to be too stupid to play chess just to prove a point.
I used to have an Shootem up on the Amiga, that was on PD disk, everytime the game started it would have that clip of Queeg saying "OK SUKKAS"
There's only one thing I wanna say in response to this video: FUCKING EPIC SCENE!!!!!!!!
They should end the series with Holly bringing another crew member out of stasis and repeating the 1st episode making you wonder how many times he did it.

I mean with the crew getting older IRL, it might not be a bad way to keep the series going.

Best ever episode of RD.
Absolute classic, and I still use the square root of 2,049 in my daily nerd life.
The music playing behind Hollys speech is an extended version of the 'Observation Dome' music... Really wished they carried on and developed with this style of music, rather than the more 'bombastic' stuff that came later. It's beautiful.

The GREATEST april fools ever...
Possibly one of THE greatest payoff for a joke in the history of comedy...
April, May, June, July and August fool. I so use that when I pull a prank...though it's never as good as Holly's....
What is beautiful about this is when it first aired, people were supposed to see this and think perhaps this was really real. One of those wonderful moments when it does turn out to be a gag.
This, to me, is the best bit that Red Dwarf ever did.
Good acting by Danny, Chris and Craig at 0:15 0:27 and 1:18.
A twist worthy of M Night Shyamalan

1:50 'WHAT?!'
Red Dwarf was the best comedy in decades, earning its right - up there with Python and Fawlty Towers. The writers were brilliant and when they tried the American version it was as dull as dishwater and completely not funny. There’s something about British humour that surpasses other countries attempts. Maybe it’s our sarcasm, the strife of the underdog (think The Young Ones) and quirkiness. I remember visiting Czechia (Czech Republic ) and they loved our Yes Minister/ Prime Minister - the political system they have is as daft and bureaucratic as ours! UK comedy at its absolute best. The books are brilliant too.
honestly Queeg made me question Holly's IQ.
Did Holly... blackface? 😅

So wait, if Queeg was Holly all along, how did Holly have himself and Queeg appear together? Like when Queeg first appears and relieves Holly and then the chess scene.

Because he's a computer. The head is just something he's generating to interact with the crew. In theory he could probably put different heads on different screens throughout the ship as much as he wanted, limited by however much computing power he has vs a ship with more potential floorspace than a moderately sized country.
OI what's happening dudes?
Anybody want any toast?
I'm the nearest thing you get to infullible. Infallible? EXACTLY! Norman Lovett > Hattie Hayridge, not because he's a better actor but the writing was just so much better.
That's Hol not Holly
"Is that fuckin' blackface, dude?"
