    The Secret commented: "Hi Dirk, I have deleted all placeholders in bubbles and entered manual text. Will it create any problems anywhere?" (KZread is not displaying the comment, but I wanted to reply.) Well, as a best practice I wouldn't do that (or I certainly wouldn't remove placeholders for Object Name / Input Value and then manually enter them...) but no, it won't _break_ anything, and everything will _look_ the same; the only downside is more maintenance effort (especially with rerecording and/or localization).

    Nice job, Dirk! I appreciate the explanation! Can you provide a session on creating branching in a simulation? Thank You!

    Thanks. I do have training on branches and decisions. I'll see if I can find the time to record a video on at least some of that.

    That’s a wonderful explanation! I have a query for you Is there any way we can add existing templates ? Like guided practice watch and learn etc? I have to create an e-learning module for our client they have their customised templates Please let me know if there is any way to add them and start recording

    What kind of template? What format are your client's customized templates in? You can't _import_ any form of existing template (maybe Word, but it's easier to amend the existing ones). Depending on what you mean by 'guided practice' and 'watch and learn' you may find that SAP Enable Now has playback modes that will work for you - check out Guided Presentation Mode and Free Presentation Mode (and maybe Concurrent Mode, which I use a lot for in-class instruction). If you just need to match in-house visual styles, there are a lot of things you can do to make simulations (and the documents generated from them) to look exactly the way you want - from creating a Simulation Template to customizing the bubble/highlight/text format, and even adding additional elements to playback and/or print. It's very flexible, but bear in mind that ultimately everything is based on the same screenshots and actions captured during recording...

    Good day, Dirk! Is there any plans to make a video about simulation templates creation? It would be very nice cause it is the part that missed in common EN help!

    Well, there's technically no object called a 'Simulation Template' - all you can do is create an 'empty' Simulation Project and use that as a 'template'. Often this is done to insert a custom Start/End page. Either way, I'll add it to my list. Thanks.

    @@EnableNowExpert Thanks! I've came from Ancile uPerform software (it's something similar to EN). But i found a lot of difference in basic knowledge. For example, in your video "creating a simulation" you shown this "Start/End page template". I try to recreate it, but found a lot of difficulties in making a good Start page. Right now I've create a step with (in this order): 1.Start macro 2.Background image 3.Some objects 4.Field with text and play button. But when I start it i have to press Play button, then I be able to see a "Field with text and playbutton" and have to press button again. However in your example when you preview simulation it is immediately show the background and "Field with text and playbutton". And I can't beat this situation. The next problem for me is to setup a correct window size to Start/End step in simulation. I have not able to find this setting at all.

    @@romanromaneev4976 There's two approaches. You can use a Book Page, but if you do that you can't display in-project content on top of this (e.g. a Bubble). Or you can insert a blank Screen macro and overlay elements onto that. I tend to use a variation of the 2nd method by building an image with my logo etc. on it, then using that as the screen (Page property).

    Hi Dirk! Could you please explain how to use "Text to speech options" in Simulations? Me and my team have tried to add this feature, however it remains silent. Thank you!

    See this blog post: enablenowexpert.com/?p=233 (written specifically for Google Cloud Text-to-Speech but the steps are largely the same). If you're using the (free/built-in) Microsoft voices it's relatively straightforward. Not sure why it would be silent - is it not generating audio at all, or is it generating audio but it is silent? If the latter, it's likely an issue on your PC. You DID convert the project to an Audio Project first, right?

    Hello, If I am recording lets say 30 mins simulation, but in a month 1 step is changing - does it mean I need to re-record everything, Or i can cut it in smaller pieces, and recreate only that 1 minute that has changed?

  • @EnableNowExpert

    @EnableNowExpert

    If only a single step has changed, I'd be inclined to just take a screencapture of that one screen, and paste it over the old screenshot. There is re-record functionality you can use to recapture a selection of steps in a simulation, but it is a bit hit-and-miss. Bottom line, no you definitely don't need to re-record everything.

    Hello Dirk once again, What in your opinion is the best approach while recording few apps 1) chrome fiori 2) excel 3) file explorer for example I thought about browser content area but excel sometimes being trimmed so need to be placed in selected browser area, in addition on second plan we can see the background of the chrome Active windows looks pretty cool but it’s recording bars and tabs as well, region is just not appropriate for me. The purpose is to create PDF and Word docs so maybe should we use active window and then cut by bulk all chrome screenshot and the tasks bar? Whats your opinion? thank you

  • @EnableNowExpert

    You mean you want a simulation that goes through all three of those apps? Personally I'd recommend recording Region, full-screen, maximizing chrome and Excel, and having File Explorer windowed on top of them. You'll likely want to include the Taskbar if you need to show switching between applications, otherwise exclude that - and hide your browser favorites bar. I don't like using Active Window as sometimes it treats a dialog box within an application as the Active Window and captures only that, resulting in mis-matched screenshots. Using a consistent auto-crop size will generally work without needing to manually crop.

    Thank you, region without taskbar will be best because even if I choose with the taskbar once I start recording it’s hidden, I don’t know why, but maybe because I use 2 monitors and this which I’m recording isn’t the main one.

    Hello Dirk, Could please help me with recording profiles? I try to record fiori app on google chrome. JavaScript is enabled, extension is installed, zoom is 100%. However, when i choose region before starting, enable now informs me about 3 elements (warnings) - extension need to be installed - it is - browser need to be on 100% - it is - DPI is different - didn’t check this out yet Anyway I’m starting with „SAP UI5” profile and after just first click, profile is automatically changed to „Generic Web Application” I don’t know why, appreciate your time

    Which extension is installed? There is SAP Companion, browser extension and also SAP Enable Now browser recorder. Install/enable both and see if it helps. DPI is worth checking. But at the end of the day they are just warnings and you can ignore them... / The profile is changing automatically because of the Authoring Setting > Recording - General > Profile Change = Always Change. Set it to Never Change and it won't switch. But the fact that it is trying to switch AWAY from SAP UI5 indicates it is not recognizing the application as Fiori. The extensions may fix that, else confirm scripting is enabled on the server side in S/4.

    Hello Dirk, How to address the issues with Citrix environment. We have Producer on local desktop, but SAP is accessed via Citrix workspace and mouse actions, inputs etc are not being captured properly.

  • @EnableNowExpert

    @EnableNowExpert

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, that's a problem. Producer needs to be running on the same machine as the application you are recording. With Citrix/VDI/RDC, all Producer knows is there's a window to another world, and it knows where you clicked on the window glass, but it doesn't have visibility on the actual objects, for object recognition. If it is S/4 or another browser-based application you could try using Web Recorder, although object recognition is very limited with that as well. But ideally you want Producer running on the 'other side of the window' - the same system/server SAP is running on.
