    Thank you for the great video! Does it work well with live recording? Does it make mp3s to send to a other musician/youtuber? Does it have an a.c. adaptor? Thank you....

    Thanks! Yes I think it's perfect for a good amateur recording. Yes it creates mp3 files as output. No a.c. adapter just runs off batteries.

    I´ve just bought a zoom h1n for recording classical guitar but I still studing with gain it´s better and which position. More or less seem to be fine micro about 30 cm from the source (hole of the guitar )and gain wheel in 7. In 6 I find it thin, in 8 the sound use to break. Thanks for your video.

    Did you record stereo ? If I want to create two tracks and pan them L R then should I record in mono using just one mic at once ? and where should I place them accordingly ?

  • @DavidsMusicChannel

    the default it stereo, you don't have to complicate it too much. just record as is and then pan in your software as you want to.

    I know it's been a minute since you did this video so you may not even use this mic anymore but I just bought the H1n to record classical guitar and I've been playing with placement the way you did. The problem I'm having is that when I point it toward the 12th fret the right channel barely registers (i assume because of the xy placement of the mics). If I point the mic between the sound hole and the bridge both channels are even but the tone is a bit "muddy". I was wondering if you had this issue. What do you think is the best distance and angle of the mic in relation to the guitar?

  • @DavidsMusicChannel

    @DavidsMusicChannel

    Hi Jeff. I still use the same mic but not so much with the guitar. That’s odd. Maybe move it slightly back but both mic’s should pick up equally. Maybe move it a bit further . You can connect the mic to a computer or some way to monitor the stereo input as you strum so you can do finer placement.

    Thank you! Can I ask what kind of guitar are you playing? Really, I'm corious about the price. I'm trying to get out something decent of a Tanglewood Crossroads (about 130 Euro).

    I have some questions. 1. Are your voice is also captured by zoom h1? 2. I can also hear your breath, is it zoom h1? 3. Did you use edited audio which is totally recorded with ZoomH1? if, 1. If you edited the audio, what you did? I mean, It sounds so sensitive. Did improve the sensitivity of the audio by editing? what you did here?

  • @DavidsMusicChannel

    hi, yes it was all recorded together with the zoom h1 in one track. i added a bit of reverb and used a bit of eq and a bit of mastering, that's it.

    Hello, can I ask a couple of questions? What sensitivity do you set on the microphone? I have a zoom h5 and it seems to record sound very quietly at level 6. Have you ever had one of the stereo microphones record louder than the other and you have to look for another location relative to the guitar? I hope you find time to answer me.

    So my zoom h1 level goes up to 100 (or somewhere there), I usually am around the 60-70 level where I get the beat signal to noise performance. Yea I have encountered unbalanced recordings but it takes very fine placement adjustment to balance it out. As long as the difference in levels isn’t beyond 60/40 ratio it is fine. Hope this helps

    Download and install Audacity if you don't already have it (it's free!). Start the program, drag & drop your audio file into it, and then do a KZread search for "Noise Reduction with Audacity" and follow Curtis Judd's tutorial. It's super quick and easy!
